  1. That's what the WoB Calderis quotes says, and isn't that just the answer? Concentrated Preservation is Lerasium, so it gives "a permanent connection to the mists and the powers of creation." The question, then, is what this means beyond making them an allomancer. Perhaps a Connection to Scadrial itself, that could allow you to influence your surroundings to a degree?
  2. Someone probably found him annoying. That's also why he got sent to the bridge crews.
  3. To all Elsecallers and Lightweavers who have been tasked with Soulcasting the chairs into aluminium, from now on the Bondsmiths will send a Skybreaker after you if you Soulcast it into something else that is visually indistinguishable instead.
  4. That's what I mean; it's not inherent to paladins.
  5. I believe Voidus is working on getting us a subforum right? Once we have it we should probably get some people (Voidus, guild leaders, Archer, Mac, etc) together to write some good explanation for what the Alleyverse is and everything.
  6. How are you so certain he doesn't?
  7. No, but that does not mean he can talk to someone with a spike if he doesn't know where they are. There's a major difference between those two things.
  8. Well, the spren rarely shows him/herself because it's afraid of Nightblood, so...
  9. A paladin isn't someone who can sense evil, it's someone who's very "good" and an example for others. Kaladin's often considered a pretty good fit, though he's a bit too grumpy for the archetype.
  10. Are you guys going to continue hijacking the un-Invested thread?
  11. Great idea, but I'm seeing one problem: The reason you get powers from being ill on Ashyn is because the viruses or bacteria making you ill grant the power because that increases the chance you don't try to get better, so they get to reproduce; it makes them more likely to survive from an evolutionary point of view. If you get ill from storing health, you don't get ill from a bacteria or virus, and therefore you wouldn't get the power.
  12. It's mostly strong because "destroy" is such a strong word, right? And because "evil" is so ambiguous and the sword can't understand it so it just assumes it's holder will know what evil is.
  13. This theory formed over the weeks and months after Oathbringer release (though I believe the seeds were there beforehand already?). I'm not sure if a single one member can be pointed towards as creator of the "Cultivation is behind the Diagram" theory.
  14. Browsers don't have spellcheck everywhere, but they do in text boxes like where we make forum posts.
  15. In fact, that's exactly what this forum is for: Looking at stuff that happened in the books, and making assumptions (aka theorizing) about what happened when we don't understand things.
  16. I'm pretty sure the "17th Shard" spellchecker is really just your browser's spellchecker. Also if you right click on a word you can add it to the dictionary. At least in Chrome you can. I don't know about Firefox.
  17. Mine tend to not be as broken, except for a few... I do have one character where I'm not sure whether she meets the requirement to become a Knight in the first place. Would want to see some Dustbringer oaths before I can definitely settle on that...
  18. You know you're a Sanderfan when you try to assign Orders to the main characters in your own writing.
  19. Put a disclaimer at the start: If you disagree with actor choices, keep your **** mouth shut unless you know a better alternative for the role. (yes I know it doesn't work like that)
  20. How hard can it be to makeup actors to fit Rosharan ethnicities though? Hair dye certainly isn't going to be too much of a problem, and though I don't have experience with it myself I have trouble believing it's not possible to fake epicanthric or whatever it's called folds.
  21. https://coppermind.net/wiki/Glyphs#Known_Glyphs Seems like there are two different glyphs both called shash (spoilered for size; first one is the fundamental glyph, other one is the 'dangerous' glyph):
  22. I believe there is.
