  1. No, he faked the severity, but he's still coughing after her fall.
  2. I know enough not to be confident about whether this is actually relevant or just coincidence, but In Rysn's interlude in WoR, Vstim appears rather sick after having been to cities around the Purelake. Rysn believed she'd seen him coughing blood on his handkerchief. It's possible this plague will spread to the Reshi Isles
  3. There's reference to fain-life in Arcanum Unbounded when Khriss is talking about the Scadrian System, so while the story isn't canon, the decay is. It's talked about a bit in the same WoB This is apparently taken as confirmation that the recipient is Frost by those who have read Dragonsteel. I unfortunately haven't.
  4. My first thought when I read that was that it didn't make any sense for a random eating utensil to be among the "delicate instruments" of the laboratory. In my head, i rejected that image in favor of it actually being a tuning fork. How that relates to metallurgy or what Gemmel would want with one, I have no idea. It just seemed to make more sense to me at the time. In typing this post, it occurs to me that a tuning fork could be used to test hearing, say if some of the experiments being done involved tin, but I feel like i'm stretching...
  5. Adolin wears this plate. Dalinar's is from somewhere else. and like Pagerunner said, not all of them were won by conquest. We know duels and advantageous marriage were both involved at least
  6. I don't think the city itself would be set up for something like this. Particularly in light of the WoB about the Skybreakers being MPs
  7. It was part of the question and not refuted here: and they were grouped with the Ryshadium, which we generally suspect bond spren Based one what I saw of his responses during this quick search, I'm not sure we can say conclusively that their specialness is due to a spren bond even though that seems the most likely. We saw Adolin's horse die right? Did a spren leave the body like with the greatshells? I don't remember.
  8. I don't think this applies to the heralds or knights. the other two entries on the second desk drawer refer to the Unmade. as to the rest of the points, yeah it's pretty obvious something's wrong with Ishar's instructions
  9. meh. maybe that's all it is, but Dalinar and Kaladin are so far the only ones to comment that way. And the way it's worded both times seem to call special attention to it.
  10. I don't think the rhythms are music exactly. just a beat. speaking to them is described as a chant. and they don't their songs too the beat of the rhythms.
  11. but it points directly to the rhythm.
  12. Based on what we know, I believe he did in fact find them. I'm less sure that he actually joined them. I don't see Nale being the type to give a set of shards to someone and then let them get entangled in a border dispute in Alethkar. Always possible there was more to that fight than we know, though.
  13. In Ishikk's interlude in WoK, it's implied that they read omens in the tides of the Purelake as well. So maybe there is something to it, But I'm not sure the Iriali would be looking at the Purelake. I might be wrong, but I thought their capital was on the other coast.
  14. This was my guess. I think Shallan's mom was affiliated with the Skybreakers. I think Lin joined the Ghostbloods because they had information about the Skybreakers. I think Helaran joined the Skybreakers because he found out his mother was a member and thought that might have been why Lin killed her (which is Helaran's understanding)
  15. Unless I'm mistaken, the waters drain somewhere before/during a Highstorm. If they don't recede the same way for the Everstorm, it's possible this is the first storm the Purelakers haven't had that warning for.
  16. i don't take the description of the flat side to indicate that it was it's original design. If something somehow split the city in half perfectly, the glass may have been how it was patched. That said, I actually like the theory posted that the symmetry is possibly completed in the cognitive realm. (I though it was in this thread but I didn't see it glancing back through. Guess I have to hunt it now.) Yes, i'm making the assumption that it would have the same symmetry as he others that are claimed to be Dawn Cities.
  17. Can our new Radiants hear the Rhythms to some extent? I ask because, towards the end of WoR, there are a couple of conversations with Shen/Rlain. One where Dalinar is interrogating him and one at the end where Bridge 4 is waiting on Kaladin to return. Both Dalinar and Kaladin have internal monologue about sensing an emotion behind the words. I'm not in a position to look up exact quotes at the moment. I will add when i get the chance. Now I'm wondering if the Rhythms are a part of Roshar and always behind the scenes for everyone. And then if becoming a Radiant increases your connection to the planet so they can possibly be heard. Are Parshendi naturally better connected than humans? That would support the theory that [not all] Rosharan humans are native to Roshar. If this has possibly been brought up before, please link.
  18. I don't think Roion had a shardblade. He came at Szeth with a traditional Alethi side sword that the assassin promptly sliced through.
  19. http://stormfather.tumblr.com/post/108812172073 It's the third to last question
  20. haha, yeah I realized after I posted
  21. This is discussed here: An opinion is given that Lift has already accepted the oath (as she claims) and that saying it is just a formality.
  22. There's also a WoB that specifies "Most" of the Orders had to say three oaths to get to the blade wielding stage. It's possible Lightweavers weren't in that category, so her having Pattern isn't necessarily indicative of the number of oaths she's spoken. edit: http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=1115#48
  23. It's part two of WoR https://coppermind.net/wiki/Words_of_Radiance/Epigraphs I don't consider the Forms different species though. If that was OP intention, then the answer to the original question is yes, this appears to be a form we haven't seen before
  24. I read this thread quite a while ago and don't really remember if it answers the question you're proposing, but it might help
  25. We really don't know anymore. At the very least, they're Listeners that have been without spren bonding for generations. I'm not sure they STILL haven't bonded a spren. The Everstorm just undid whatever made them slaves in the first place. I'm not even sure it's safe to call them Voidbringers. Something is very off from what we understand. I will continue to refer to all Parshmen/Parshendi as Listeners until explicitly informed by canon materials that I can do otherwise.
