  1. At this point I think these chapters destroyed any theories we have, both the main ones were effects of either stormlight or his resonance, or that despite all evidence against, the wording of his curse/boon matters.
  2. I mean in terms of the small details, like weeks ago there was a discussion about something that had not come up in the book, and the next chapter answered it (renarin and his powers), or the discussion about spanreeds needing stormlight. This week the main theories about Dalinar's memory had to do with his bond in some way, there wasn't much in the way of discussion about any other causes (only the occasional comment) and this week we learn otherwise. Almost every theory getting a ton of information the very next week.
  3. I would say it's really unlikely to be liss, the WoB (I can't find it on mobile but it came up in a bit about the orders of eshonia and Ash) that said that we had seen a dustbringer on screen but "it's complicated", and honestly, liss becoming a dustbringer seems rather simple and straightforward.
  4. Sometimes I really wish that I wasn't on mobile, but the epigraph said they considered the name dustbringer unacceptable because of how similar it is to voidbringer, so I'd guess the origin of it has to do with that. (Someone please find it if you can, thanks)
  5. The thing is, not only would she probably introduce herself as a releaser untill she needed to use "dustbringer" but that epigraph said that they considered the term unacceptable, not just a name they don't like, why in the world would it be her go to introduction?
  6. Mostly why I'm trying to say is I'm not sure if she's actually a dustbringer, if she has appeared on screen before now it's unlikely she is, also, as I mentioned, why is she referring to herself as a dustbringer instead of as a releaser? epigraph in WoR said they hated the term Dustbringers and called themselves "releasers", extra since she says her Spren called her that. But hey, if we see her use her powers I guess she'll be confirmed.
  7. The thing is I'm pretty sure the WoB (can't get it on mobile) didn't specify that the future dustbringer was a major character, only had appeared on screen.
  8. So with the appearance of the new Dustbringer in these chapters I'm reminded of a WoB I can't find right now saying that we have seen a future Dustbringer onscreen, but that "it was complicated". However, this Dustbringer does not seem complicated in any way, so my question is, have we seen this person on screen before now? Because that would imply that she is not actually a Dustbringer, especially with the added detail that the Dustbringers did not call themselves as such, they called themselves the "releasers" and hated the term "Dustbringers" as per a quote from WoR in an epigraph of WoR (can someone find that one, I'm on mobile). Both things combined I find this Dustbringer odd and somewhat suspicious, though it is perfectly plausible that she is legitimately a Dustbringer.
  9. I swear every single set of chapters is targeted at exactly what we have been discussing the last week. Between more evidence as to who Oathbringer's author is not, to why Mraize is there and whether ialai is a member of the ghostbloods and whether she committed the copycat murders.
  10. Based on the fact that the thrill comes from some entity, probably an unmade, and Dalinar sees it as profoundly wrong as of the pre release chapters, that wouldn't be much of a curse, honestly it's more of a boon.
  11. Based on the "ars arcanum" in either tWoK or WoR it would appear that voidbinding is it's own distinct power set, so I would assume that those people wouldn't be quite like the radiants in terms of what they do, but otherwise I feel like it's rather likly we see some humans bind voidspren.
  12. Can't find the chapter, but Wayne and "spoiled tomato" in bands of mourning, it's in series not parallel.
  13. Sorry if I was unclear, what I am saying is two parts, first, physical memory loss, simple enough. Two, when he sees or hears her her name, the brain has been modified so that when that happens, instead of working as if he saw/heard her, it works as if he heard Shshsh or saw a blur respectively. I'm no Neurologist but to the extent of my knowledge that is how the brain functions, you have a part of your memories for everything and draw new connections to them every time it's relevant. (You connect your friend's face to some party if you see him there as well as to that house and to whatever you were doing) I just view the brain as a ridiculously complex computer program and to the extent of my knowledge it is, so I just see it as replacing two variables with different values. also, I meant in essence what do you see as the largest flaws in this whole theory.
  14. To the first part, thinking of something requires knowing it, that requires remembering it, to part two, it could be only physical by means of modification of the part of his brain responsible for the processing of Evi as well as everything i said. I get the sense that this is going to go on, so what exactly do you feel that the stormlight theory needs to answer before you see it as plausible?
  15. Two things to add to this theory. One: in the vision Dalinar had of the two orders abandoning thier shards, did they instantly summon thier blades or did it take a moment (ten heartbeats) Two: the bondsmiths being the remaining order helps explain the lack of massive Spren having died at some point, that would more then likely leave some trace somewhere. (No they wern't bonded to Honor, the radiants were the product of Spren imitating heralds, so they had to have bonded Spren for that to be the case)
  16. I don't have the book on hand, but based on your wording, the only one Honor didn't see happen was the prediction for the future. (Most were things he saw, but some were things he feared WOULD happen, implies he saw all but the predictive ones, obviously capitalization is mine)
  17. If I remember correctly all cosmere healing works the same correct? We know that healing prioritizes from Bands of mourning and Wayne's "spoiled tomato" and what could possibly be lower priority then something with no present effect whatsoever on the body? Also how is it possible to see yourself as himself as injuried when he only sees himself as missing a memory, or in other words, Forgetting something. (A natural process), however, anything that prevents him from hearing Evi's name at any given moment could be doing damage to his capacity to register her name, an actual issue. a second option, the "spiritual template" healing works off of, wouldn't have memories, those would have to be filtered in by the cognitive, meaning that how can he gain those memories without a trigger (hearing Evi), the way memories work that would attempt to form a connection to every one of his memories of her, fail, fix the issue (stormlight) then the second time he heard her name (when he told navani to repeat it), trigger a new connection to each of those memories. (Hence them not coming to mind the first time he heard her name, cosmere healing is not quite instant, but fast on such a small scale as neurons)
  18. Where do the songs say how to get the forms of power? The songs contain mostly information about how to not bond a voidspren if eon a storm with one it would seem, the song about (decayform?) said "hold dear the fears that fill your head" and almost every other one advised them to avoid something related to that form
  19. The thing is, the part of the curse/boon that deals with memories could be purely physical, just am age or destroy or seperate the neurons and whatnot related to Evi, the only part requiring anything other then one time damage would be effecting him at the instant he sees Evi or hears her name, any point past that can be done with targeted damage to the brain.
  20. @asrael the only part of Dalinar's memory issues that would require ongoing magic would be his inability to see images at any given moment, the rest could be accomplished by damage to his short and long term memory related to her making him incapable of seeing or remembering Evi at any point other then the exact moment he sees a picture or hears her name, and the hearing part is even questionable because by the time he registers hearing her name it would be a part of short term memory, except it wouldn't be there to access.
  21. @specialNEDstark well, based on how Sanderson tends to write things, I feel like it's unlikely we will have a strictly "evil" group of radiants, it seems to me that we would more likly have a group working for odium but more out of a "righteous anger" style then a kill everyone for odium style opposition (righteous anger falls perfectly under the meaning of odium).
  22. The usage of highprince there is used as a reference to a position of power relevant to the conversation (as opposed to "king") Dalinar attempted to use his position as highprince to end the dual and she replied that she was the one in charge in the way you quoted.
  23. I agree, but we can't really say for absolute certain, just probably, so if we find a good theory for the cause based on another order staying then we can't just say it was the skybreakers who stayed.
  24. There is none as far as I know, that's why I said that we needed to find something that would make nine orders leave instead of all but the skybreakers leave.
  25. @Wreith The issue with what you mention is that not all the orders would have an issue with that. Notably not all elsecallers would have an issue as (can't find it in mobile) there is a WoB saying they would accept a "ends justify means" philosophy and enslaving a race is arguably justified by stopping the desolations. Same with skybreakers. The major issue with theories about the cause is that you need to find a reason that works for exactly 9 orders not 8 or 10.
