Trails of Cold Steel (and the Kiseki series in general)
Eluvianii replied to Zurvanight's topic in Entertainment Discussion
...now I'm intrigued. I'd better make some progress. -
Agh, storms! You're giving me way too much work. There. Be grateful this isn't women's script, or you would have angered a great many people. Luckily for you, it's easier to hide things in foreign languages like this one. Ummmm don't listen to this, guys. I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding. No infiltrations here. Yeah. Moving on. Well, can't deny this one. Poor guy.

Granted. It's a spin-off documentary about tea leaves and their properties narrated by Iroh. I wish for the answer. -
Don't know. B seems likely.

Ok, the fact that Rean is so weirded out by seeing a girl pick up an earth worm makes me laugh way more than it should. -
I've been sent to tell you kindly that if you say another word, an undisclosed random and completely natural catastrophic event may befall you. Have a nice day.

What are you playing right now?

I will have nightmares about chapter 14 of Fates: Birthright. -
Storm it. I wasn't posting because I'm so behind now it's unbelievable but, I don't really care. I just hope to catch up before November. Fun fact. Part of the reason I didn't recover when I was only three chapters behind is because I was about to binge a few chapters and catch up when Kaladin started talking about being productive. Then I glanced at my floor which very clearly needed some attention. And there was a pile of dishes on my desk. And I really needed a shower. So I spent the rest of the evening being productive and next day was Monday, so. Anyway, let's see. I like how Moash seems to worship Kaladin whenever he's being awesome. Then if he stops being awesome for two seconds he's a big jerk. Then the moment he starts being awesome again it's back to worship. Then again, all the bridgemen are more or less like that, but Moash really likes to voice it. Nothing really weird there, but I'm trying to find stuff in his behavior that points to his later life choices. He's basically dark Kaladin after all. I really like Navani. And she's smart. Treating Adolin like a son I see. Good plan, good plan. Darn, Brandon really played me here. I was actually thinking the whole time that the visions spoke to Dalinar directly. Like, let's be real, who would have predicted that ancient Roshar's gods had access to VR movies. Gosh darn it, Dunny! I thought you survived. I think I was kind of fascinated and terrified by cryptics on my first read. Those scenes with Shallan read like horror for a bit and I love it. Horror and fantasy should mix way more often. On that note, it's funny to think that Shallan's arc from here on was triggered by a bad jam jar. Were it not for that she would just be soulcasting stuff in her father's states, which would probably still end with her joining the Ghostbloods. Huh.

Insane. Yes, that was the word for it. What were they even trying to stop? A bunch of lunatics trying to go on a magic trip? They were crazy, a group of freaks who read one too many books. They probably weren't even a problem to begin with. No, they are, lunatics or not. "So that's it? You just want to go on a vacation to Wonderland?" Lewis was growing more angry with every word. "Then why the secrecy? Why the murders? Why the-" The fires. He left that unvoiced, casting a glance towards Wita. "Why did people have to die for your little game?!" Why was there people like him? Lewis had nearly gone crazy over a single murder. Why were there people like this guy, killing like it was nothing just to feed their delusions? @Sorana

Granted. You now live in the 17th Shard for all eternity. Some day there will be no more books, no more users, no more discussions but you'll still be here, enjoying your time. On the bright side, that means some day you'll be basically a mod, just without anyone to ban. I wish for some sour cream chips. -
Wizarding World Guild

Depends on if you hate her. I have trouble with that because one of my closest friends has similar opinions and we have some really heated arguments because of that from time to time, and he's still one of my closest friends. I just want to believe there's more to her as a person than the bad stuff. But I don't want to turn this into an argument. Hi, everyone, Ravenclaw here. Horned Serpent. Red Squirrel. English oak wood with a unicorn hair core, 10 ¾" and slightly springy flexibility.- 58 replies

Did anyone else feel that the deal with Sigzil might have been overprotection on Kaladin's part? Maybe mixed with some exaggeration from his POV? Because yes, he was impaled, and yes, his Stormlight was being drained, but when Kaladin saved him, he didn't seem scared to me, or even nervous. More like confused. Like "Oh hey Kal, didn't see you there. Huh? You want me to retreat? Why?" That little scene with Moash was amazing. He really seems to be going down the evil path. I really like the idea of a normal, good person with some internal conflict making questionable choices and gradually becoming actually evil. In OB he still seems like a good person, just terribly misguided, but at this rate, he could get on Rayse's level morally speaking at some point, and I really want to see the transition. I'd be fine with a redemption arc but there's nothing quite like the birth of a villain. (I know Moash didn't actually do anything this chapter besides standing there and jump, but I don't know, it really did felt like an entire year worth of character development had passed just from that) So Navani is hearing the rhythms now. At least I think she is. The number of humans doing that is increasing. Shallan, actions like the one you're planning are the kind that usually end with you spending 500 pages regretting your life choices. Whatever the result, I hope it's a good one, but I doubt it. It will be hard for your companions and superiors to trust you if you deviate from your objectives like that all the time. Also, I love Leshwi. Nothing to say there that hasn't already been said, she's just great.

You seem to have some freedom with that. The only freedom we get is fitting more than the normal 6 subjects in the schedule (like, getting one or two subjects that are supposed to be for future semesters), but that turns us into irregulars, which means next time we have to choose a schedule we choose last, which means we get the leftovers. I really find it weird how if we choose to study harder we are screwed in that aspect so we have no choice but to go with the program. Edit: Just realized we might be talking about two entirely different things here, but oh well, it fits with the thread.

Trails of Cold Steel (and the Kiseki series in general)
Eluvianii replied to Zurvanight's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Well, in my case the first pc I tried to run the game on, it was a beautiful wild card where everything was fine except loading screens. Meaning the time a battle took to load, the time a cutscene took to load, the time a new area took to load, etc. They could be normal or they could last 20 minutes. I was afraid of opening doors. In the end I got like 70 hours in but skipping a lot of dialog with NPCs and with long breaks between sessions, as they felt more and more like a chore. So I decided to just drop it and start over once I had something that could actually handle the game. -
I did. I feel so dumb right now. I was going to try again when I saw I got the latest newsletter. I could never find the confirmation email but I am already receiving it. In which of my attempts my registration was completed or how I managed to miss the confirmation mail I honestly don't know.

Alright so, I just got a new laptop (it feels good to see the Shard on desktop again) and it's pretty weak by current standards I guess, but it can deal with CS I and II no problem. It can't do anything aparently with III and IV but hopefully by the time I finish CS II I'll have that sorted out. For now, I'm just happy to be back into actual new stuff (for me at least) from this world. -
All this talk about aluminium makes me think that if mind controlling Investiture users came to invade Earth, those funny little aluminium paper hats would actually be a great defense. Kaladin is getting a lot of buildup for the Fourth Ideal. In OB he collapses trying to swear it and the solution turns out to be that someone had to save him this time. And now he's refusing any kind of help, both emotional and in combat. The guy has a huge responsibility over his shoulders when he shouldn't. He gives the others tasks he knows they can handle but overall tries not to let them take risks. Maybe the next Ideal is about making Protection a mutual thing? Protect and be protected? He's not letting anyone in, and unless he does so he can't fully trust anyone. He wants everyone he meets to trust their lives to him but he's not willing to do the opposite. Teft is looking better I see. I love that. He was always my favorite bridgeman and it was painful seeing him go down in OB. We had some hints at possible future problems between Shallan and Adolin. Granted, they've only been married a year so it's only natural they don't understand each other completely, but in their case, Shallan doesn't even understand herself, so of course Adolin would have a hard time doing the same, more than a normal couple I'd bet. I don't think these two can be a stable couple until Shallan starts being completely honest with herself. Looking forward to her arc this book. And looking forward to storming Dawnshard. We're getting clues that whatever happened there is general knowledge for the Radiants. Is Rysn getting close to the action now? And that battle. Now we're getting to see full-scale Radiant battles as they were being promised since the prelude. Imagine the scope this is going to have in the end if it took three books just to get to this normal state of things. I can't even imagine what Brandon has in store for book ten.
