Yep, I think I get what you mean. It's kind of awful. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, but the others always end up taking over for some reason. I start reading, don't really focus, and oh look, Steam discounts. And then I go back to read, I can't focus on it and oh look, a new slice-of-life show. sigh

Sorry, haven't read the thread. I need to get this out while it's fresh. Storms!!!! This was the best chapter so far!! One of my favorite chapters in the series already. I've been waiting since Shallan got to the plains for a chapter with the trio going out drinking. And now it's here! And it's so bittersweet. "You don’t have to smile. You don’t have to talk. But if you’re going to be miserable, you might as well do it with friends." Adolin just shot up a few places in my list of favorite characters just with that line. He's like the most stable person in the group. He might have thought that Kaladin just sulks because he wants to and not bother with him. He might have thought Shallan is just playing around, pretending to be other people. Instead he cares for them, he knows they're suffering, he wants to help them and is afraid he might not be able to. I'm not sure a lot of people would go that far. Shallan and Kaladin don't exactly disappoint either. They can barely get through their day to day with their own problems, and still find the time to worry about others. If the world has to be trusted to someone, they are definitely the right group. And it's not like all of it was sad. Seeing them joking, and simply chatting, teasing each other. That's one dream scene come true for me. So check. Now I only have to see them teasing Jasnah (And maybe that 'Well excuuuuuse me brightness' that Brandon's kids wanted?) And the hints, so many hints. Will we get to see the reactions at Dalinar's actions? We did get to see a glimpse of Adolin's. The line between lighteyed and darkeyed is blurring thanks to Jasnah. Good. We're getting new named characters, will they be important? And of course, Rock. We will miss you. Can't wait for that novella.

We're confessing family accidents now? I once accidentally kicked my sister with my knee on the face, knocking out a tooth. She was grateful.

Yep. That joke was bad, it deserves rep. TPBM is intimidated by the Alleyverse (I know I am).

Favorite 3 Songs of All Times
Eluvianii replied to Hoiditthroughthegrapevine's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I really like this l idea, actually, let me join you on that oath. I just listened to yours and the first thing I can say is that we have really different tastes but that only means I have yet a lot of music to listen to. I really liked So Long Marianne. It's something that would fall outside of my comfort zone genre-wise but I might look for more things by the artist. As for my own 3 favorites, that's a painful task. I mentioned it somewhere else but I have an "All Time Favorite Songs" list and it has around 63 elements. Narrowing it down to 3 is like asking me to choose mi favorite child (quantum child, since I don't have kids yet). Still, I have to admit there are a few in that list that have stuck with me more than the rest. Time to put into words exactly why. 3. Muñeca de Trapo - La Oreja de Van Gogh This was my edgy teen song but it didn't lose its shine or appeal with time. Probably the opposite. This band is a master of lyrics, and I know, language barrier, sorry about that but you'll have to take my word for it (or google translate them), and this is one of the best examples. This song is special in several ways. The kind of rock style when it's a pop band. The controversy around the lyrics to the level some fans still refuse to listen to it because it's "satanic". All elements to help tell a simple tale about unrequited love with all the emotions and desperation it needs. 2. Catch the Moment - LiSA This song wouldn't have made the list when I first listened to it three years ago. And don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved it since the first time but it's as if each time I listen to it it gets better. It's the longest case of song addiction I've ever had, to the point I can listen to this every day, sometimes several times, and I won't get tired of it. As for its strong points? Easy. The chord progression is absolutely perfect. It just flows so well each chord seems to exist solely to fit into this song. The arrangement is just as perfect and LiSA's voice is addictive, I really can't get tired of this song. 1. Hoshikuzu - FictionJunction Ok, here's a fact. Yuki Kajiura is an absolute genius. And this is her Magnus Opus. I like to think the range of genres I listen to is pretty broad but if there is such a thing as the perfect style, for me it's hers. No matter what she does, it's amazing and unique and always different from her other works but still instantly recognizable as her work, it's brilliant. And this song. This storming song. Quoting something I heard once, it's as if this song was "ripped out from the world instead of created for it". I mean, seriously, it's like listening to nature itself singing. It's constructed only one note at a time. No chords. Each instrument only one note at a time. But by the end there is such an array of sounds playing in perfect harmony I can't imagine anything ever beating it. It is, plain and simple, the most beautiful song I've had the pleasure of listening to. And that's it. This list will likely, as much as I don't like to think about it, change with time. Lots of songs still to come, but for now, this is what I have. -
It's in this book where I started seeing one of the main features or flaws, depending how you see it, people always mention about the series. There's so many characters the only reliable way to keep track is... actually keeping track, like with a notebook and everything. I don't plan on doing that, I hope it's fine just seeing what their role in the current book is and hoping I remember them before it ends, but it is pretty strange to see a vaguely familiar name that appeared for like half a page two books ago and the story expects me to remember it.

Yes, piano, and a tiny little bit of guitar (also, I practiced violin for a while but it was for so little time and so long ago that it doesn't count) TPBM wants to say something.
-
I don't really remember anyone mentioning what it said, but I'm picturing something like: Letter 1: You're the most wonderful person I've ever met and I want to marry you. Letter 2: But don't feel too comfortable, it's not like I like you or anything. Kind of a tsundere thing to do and I find it more adorable than I probably should.

430. If you're already a bad guy all the way, try to become as unimportant as possible in order to survive. The alternatives are keeping being bad and being killed by the heroes, or redeem yourself and dying as the final step.

Welcome to Crime Help Line, I understand you couldn't reach the desired destination for your crime? ... Ah I see, so you're robbing that rich family next to the homeless man? I could give you three answers to that, but two of them involve melted chocolate and that is messy business.

There's a seven-book series about why that is a bad idea. I've found it's a fool's errand to try and find the source of a meme. By the time they become viral it's already impossible. That's why some people use watermarks. They're not entirely trustworthy but it's the closest we have.

Wait, I'm pretty sure that's the plot of a book Brandon wants to write.

We're too bored to post most of the time. I, for one, have been to bored to post since page 1.

I was, but now that's below me *insert witty comment because I can't come up with one* TPBM loves peanut butter.

That's easy, it's about t-shirts with funny quotes obviously. Granted, your family turns into chipmunks. I wish for diabetes immunity. -
I am but I likely won't go to sleep for another few hours because I'm a coherent person. TPBM has a terrible secret.

10/10. Love the ending.
