  1. Broad worldbuilding could be made known to players, depending on how we want to set up. (Characters from the Alleyverse finding a new world, or natives of the new world, or a mixed bag in which case we might PM the native players so they are aware) but yeah the specifics of the plot would be hidden. EDIT: Just realized you said Paranoia with a capital 'P' meaning the game I assume I haven't actually played it so I couldn't say but that does sound like an interesting concept.
  2. Something similar, a little more free form than tabletops, since we don't want to post fifty times for 10 seconds worth of interaction with die rolls, sanity checks and whatnot, but yeah broadly speaking.
  3. It can work as a horror game, you just need a pretty clear divide between players and a GM in my opinion, it really doesn't suit the kind of Free Form RP we do in the Alleyverse where everyone is collaborating to create the story. Psychological horror really needs to have one group of people making the story, and another group of people experiencing the story. Because if you know what's going to happen you're really not going to get an optimal experience. For comparison my current thinking would be to run it similarly to how Lith runs 'Of Gods and Men', since you're both in that and it's easier to explain So worldbuilder's kept separate from the actual RP elements and act as the NPCs in the world.
  4. Hello all! This is going to be the planning thread for the horror setting that was voted on in the chat thread, now personally I enjoy horror a great deal, I DM a lot of horror games for my D&D group, and I've had something of a horror plot up my sleeve since era 1 of the Alleyverse so I would greatly enjoy worldbuilding and to an extent GMing this thread, but I'm not the only one who voted for the setting so in the interests of fairness I wanted to get some feedback on what exactly people wanted when they voted for this setting. Some people may be interested in a thriller more than an actual horror per say, alien monsters and things with tentacles and stuff, but still playing essentially the same characters as in the main Alleyverse, relatively powerful heroes whose job is to chop down all the alien monsters so they don't eat all the world or whatever. Some people may be more interested in psychological or a cosmic horror in which case I'd suggest that the PCs be completely unInvested if possible, and we'd likely need someone to act as a Game Master to drive the plot and drop some surprises in from time to time. (From my experience these kinds of horror really doesn't work well in an RP where everyone has equal narrative-creation power because people all want to do their own thing and it turns into a mess more than anything) Typically in these games the ambition of players should be to survive as long as possible rather than to actually defeat their enemy. Some people may be interested in something somewhere in between those two, where you're not playing as just some average joe who got stuck in the middle of a fight between Elder Gods, but you're also not a super magical hero slaying endless hordes of meaningless mooks. I would see this as similar to the kinds of D&D game I run from time to time, where the PCs are exhausted, tired, and a little bit crazy by the end but do ultimately have a hope of victory. So please provide any feedback on what you'd be hoping to get out of this or how you hope it could be run, either related to the above points or not. And we can start brainstorming. Current list of characters: Sorana (Lizanne Farmer): ZincAboutIt (Renata): ITIAH (Wilhelm Wendigo): Silva ( Ashira Celeste Blanche Addington): Ark1002 (Hellbent-Son-Palm): Blessing of Potency (Arundhati): Kenod (Lisa Waite): Kidpen (Tishyl): Beantheboy12 (Zib): Snipexe (Jack Overchild): Gancho Libre (Fah'Loofah Smedry):
  5. Of all the Alleys to take us through why'd he have to detour through 64%&12? Laurelai thought wryly, still trying to get the ringing out of her ears. I would have thought the last experiment on penguins ended disastrously enough to discourage further research. Now back in the Alleys she made use of her Zincminds to think things through as Mac spoke to Lita, though she did feel a smug smile creep across her face as Lita replied. Well she'll fit right in. Not a bad catch. She raised an eyebrow when Mac asked her to teach Lita Alleymatics. It wasn't exactly the first item on the training menu for most newcomers. Then again, if someone wanted to pull back the curtains of the Alleyverse then Alleymatics was definitely the place to start. "Of course." She replied politely before turning to Lita. "Come on, we can stop by R&D while we chat for a bit, they always have something interesting that shouldn't work but does. And we can pick you up a special pen of your own."
  6. He then likely realized the multiple illegitimate votes that don't count because they weren't from representatives.
  7. This would need an ok from the audience of this roleplay specifically, as opposed to the wider community of 17S. Chaos doesn't mind as long as topics with spoilers are marked, but that presents another challenge in that we'd potentially have to mark every topic that this character appears in as having potential Skyward spoilers. I suppose the crux of it for me is whether or not you're attached to the concept enough for us to go down that path instead of waiting for the end of the spoiler period and whether or not they need to be in the Alleyverse or could be in a separate RP, or possibly one of the tangential RPs we're beginning to explore.
  8. It's a preference, it's not technically against forum rules but I feel that it violates the spirit of the spoiler policy. As for why it's in the index that's because someone scored it for Archer I believe so he added it. I also don't know that i agree with the total either. Also again this is a preference not a mod ruling so AV mods or the community are welcome to overrule.
  9. One of those is a duplicate vote.and actually now that I've checked again, so is one of the sci fi votes.
  10. Subplots can develop or once we've finished the trial then new settings may be possible.
  11. I think we can call it at this point, majority of active members have voted and the rankings have been pretty consistent. Top three results: Classical Fantasy, Horror, Sci-Fi I think three is a reasonable number of new threads, not enough to start overshadowing what's going on in existing e3 plots but enough that we can get an idea of the potential diversity on offer. Now I'd like to take on the task of setting up the horror thread personally because I've had some plans for a while. So I'll make a thread shortly and get some feedback from people on what they want out of it. (For that one at least I'd rather not go into specifics of plot, given that a large portion of what makes horror horror is the unknown) For the other two (Classical fantasy and sci-fi) can I get some people to volunteer to kick off the worldbuilding, collate ideas and develop plots, and manage the thread? I think if we have a few different people working on them then we'll have a wider offering available.
  12. Sorry just got around to reading this again, need to do the final scoring but yeah on a second review this looks like it's still going to come out OP. Guessing I forgot about the healing when I said earlier that it should come out okay. Necromancer Healing: 70 (You mentioned healing lethal wounds here which means I assume this is a fairly quick process, PIs are expensive) Plant growth - 40 Other time abilities - 40 Skills: Intelligent (30), Scholar (30), firearms (45) Weakness: -10 Total: 245 - Needs a lot more weaknesses or some power reduction
  13. The preference is that people avoid using things from DE for now.
  14. Megan nodded, tucking her arms into her armpits as she stood up from the cold ground. But her carefully groomed brow, furrowed in concern and confusion twitched a little in surprise. Now she's inviting me to her house? Well I guess she didn't technically deny being an angel. She glanced sidelong at Indy as they walked towards the house. "So not a hallucination. That leaves an angel then? I can only assume you're here to smite me or something. Calamity's arrival didn't really leave me particularly religious. At least hell will be warm I guess." She tried to make herself laugh at her own terrible joke, but only managed to twist her wry mouth into something that probably more closely resembled a snarl.
  15. Laurelai looked back towards Mac as Lita introduced herself, trying to read his expression for any hints of annoyance or irritation at her. Briefly she considered Forging herself again but that probably wouldn't be the best idea. She pulled her pen out again, this time not clicking the conjoined ruby into place. This message wasn't for transmitting, but it might be easier to have some way to communicate without Lita noticing. She pulled out a small pad, noting down a few things in shorthand. Holding a pen without having anything to write on could draw its own kind of attention sometimes. While keeping an eye on their surroundings to make sure no one was getting too close she gave the pen a few deft twirls, sending another Alleycant message to Mac. She's not just good with tin. I think she noticed something off about my accent even when I'd forged myself. Insight beyond just enhanced senses.
  16. Laurelai's eyes widened as Mac walked into the tavern personally, briefly glancing about before moving over towards Lita and herself. She hadn't expected him to take that much of an interest in her message, still being somewhat new with the DA, all things considered. She'd also heard that he had been difficult to get a hold of recently, something about meetings with Voidus. A chill went down her spine for a moment before she stopped herself. She was a curious person, but she had a feeling she really didn't want to hear what happened in those meetings. Lita covertly opened the conversation with Mac. She seemed a little nervous, possibly noting Mac's importance within the DA. Mac replied bluntly, abandoning all pretense and asked Lita at face value what she could offer. Well, I suppose at least now I don't have to hold to any pretense either. Laurelai thought wryly. She adjusted her posture, no longer hiding the small protrusion in the cloth at her shoulder, the small metallic bump that indicated her first spike. As soon as Mac walked in here we were likely noticed, I suppose it wouldn't have mattered even if we'd tried to still be discreet. Mac was simply to noticeable and well known of a figure to blend into the background.
  17. You missed out on the compounding score. A bronze compounder is 165 points. I'll do a full scoring in a bit if none of the others have, on mobile atm though.
  18. Existing characters can be used, if we decide not to continue after trialing it for a while they can immediately return to the Alleyverse, if we want to adopt it as a permanent setting though then the preference would be that the character stays primarily in that setting rather than the existing one. Given that we're only aiming for a few settings I was hoping to limit it more like this but a few people have expressed the preference so I'll reset the poll and add the previous votes back afterwards, hopefully this should allow those who have already voted to continue to do so. EDIT: Have reverted poll to a multiple choice, I've already added the results for people who had already voted for a single result so try to avoid revoting for what you already voted for but if I notice anyone has done so I'll revert it back. Results before the change: 11 votes total - 1 No expanded setting, 1 Sci-Fi, 1 Noir, 1 Wild West, 3 Horror, 4 Classical Fantasy
  19. Laurelai nodded approvingly as she stared back at Lita, she'd been told that she could be cold at times, calculating. It was one of the reasons that she often altered herself a little when interacting with others. But sometimes seeing how someone reacted to her when she wasn't taking on a different life was useful, illuminating. "So you seek knowledge?" She clarified "But not knowledge for its own sake." Well I think it might be time to make a call. She reached into a pocket and pulled out a pen, twirling it in one hand idly as she continued staring at Lita and sipping her drink with her other hand. Most would only see it as a nervous habit, but the odd movements of the pen did catch some peoples attention. The way it seemed heavier, slower than it should. She twirled it from finger to finger for a few moments, then drew a slow circle in the air. Alleycant wasn't known by many outside of the Dark Alley, and it was useful for sending a spanreed message while in plain sight, the conjoined ruby hidden by the pen's casing Found someone interesting. She sent. Might be useful to recruit into your department, or as a general agent for now. Mac himself was usually too busy to personally respond to a message from someone like Laurelai, but the department might send someone else to evaluate Lita. "Well." She said, addressing the woman again. "I can't say that that's outside the realm of what is known of the motivations of the Dark Alley. Perhaps they'd be interested enough in you to meet." @MacThorstenson
  20. I would think the purpose of a trial was so that people can have a more accurate idea of what they're voting for but sure, we can have a pre-vote I guess. For the record, the previous poll of approval of Destiny content was defeated with 14 Noes vs. 4 Yes' EDIT: Poll is up, if anyone has any additional suggestions or wants to change their votes please let me know.
  21. "They could try." Chuckled another hooded figure from among the DA.
  22. Well as Sorana has pointed out I think the best thing at this point is a trial run. I'll try to get something up within the next few days.
  23. One for each of you.
