If someone has already stated a guild preference then I think accepting them in is appropriate for here, so that the character can be finalized. Just try to keep it simple and the preference would probably be that whoever the head of recruitment for that guild is, is the one to respond so that it's official.

A group of children huddled together, they shivered silently in a small, locked room. A few of them who were older than the others appeared to be trying to calm the younger children down and keep them silent. The door to the room burst open, a number of soldiers filing in along with what appeared to be an Epic hurling lightning around. The soldiers opened firing, slaughtering the children indiscriminately as the Epic began to fry them and their bodies fell to the floor, lifeless. A moment later the room burst into flame, incinerating all that dwelt inside. A nearby statue began to move, grinning at the sudden explosion. The illusions of the children inside the room all vanished, one of them covering the grenade that Whisper had dropped inside. She moved on again, searching for the next group.

Whisper let out a sigh of relief as a thick wall of thorny roots blocked her off from the approaching men. Reinforcements at last. She noted wryly. And more on the way it seems. She felt a number of shifts in reality, nearby corridors were suddenly filled with a number of dark-robed figures as they Alleytravelled into the complex. It seemed that her message had gone through. She hadn't been certain how many members of the DA would respond, but the eager looks on many of their faces confirmed her initial thoughts on the matter. Things had been boring lately, and a lot of the field agents were looking for a fight. She pointed off towards another corridor, where she'd seen other soldiers heading further into the compound. The DA forces eagerly started heading towards it, one stopped briefly to throw a bag of infused sphere's in her direction which she gratefully took. She ran in a different direction to the rest of them, she worked better alone after all.

There was another loud crack all as the head of the man with the cowboy hat and light blue skin exploded. A different man in an even more elaborate cowboy hat smiled and then headed off to hunt down some more intruders.

Whisper ducked into the middle of their path, arms outstretched to block them from proceeding any further. Not the greatest plan in the world. She thought to herself ruefully. Her eyes darted around the room, looking from place-to-place. Trying to find anything she could use to gain an edge. If she could distract them for just a moment then the ones who were behind them could catch up and finish them off.

One of the children from the group nodded to herself, she'd seemed to just be waggling her fingers in the air for a moment but now sprinted towards the fray, her lithe body sped across the grounds with the speed of a professional athlete, though as she approached the walls she felt that strength fading and grimaced. Those glyphs might be hindering them just as much as their attackers. Nontheless with a practiced motion she leapt from the ground, arm wrapping around the neck of a nearby soldier. The momentum of her mad dash slammed into his trachea and with a quick, mid-air twist of her body she felt something in the mans neck snap. She also felt the Stormlight dissipate from her body as the wall took that too, her form shimmered as the illusion was dispelled, her dishevelled appearance became cleaner and the short, ragged black hair she'd supported previously shifted to a short auburn coloured pony-tail. Sprouting from the top of her head, two small cat-like ears perked up. There goes that disguise. She saw a person of interest nearby, the one who'd sabotaged several dining establishments, they seemed to be engaged with one of the defenders of the church, both sides trading experienced blows. That seems to be a focal point, some support there should help shift the overall tide. Whisper wasn't particularly fond of wading into a battle, she kept her attention wide, making sure to avoid any particularly concentrated areas of fire as she made her way towards where Shae and the waiter fought. She preferred behind-the-scenes work or using her illusions but with both of those options out of the picture she'd need to offer some support in a different way. She hurled a small metallic spike in the direction of the waiter, however the two were both in close quarters, hitting only one of them was going to be difficult.

I was pretty explicitly trying to state that yes, as confirmed in BoM.

Yeah what Kenod said basically. Simply storing the Investiture you get from burning metals would be convenient but ultimately still limited in your rate of actually burning them. Storing the ability itself means you can achieve more power from the same amount of metal, leading to quickly ridiculous scenarios such as the one I mentioned above.

Record: Org-45671 Type: Organism record Planet of discovery: Alleyplanet, approximately 13 kilometers beneath the planets surface. (34° 55' 42'' S, 138° 36' 2'' E) Appearance: Org-45671 appears to be a large, flightless avian species. Appearance resembles a species formerly discovered on the planet earth, known locally there as the 'Dodo', however Org-45671 is much larger. Of the 100 specimens first discovered the average height was estimated as ~258 cm (Approx. 8'5"). Org-45671 plumage is typically white with occasional gray patterning, however more exotic colors have also been observed. Their beak appears long and sharp, indicating a carnivorous diet, and their feet include sharp talons. Danger: Minimal Initial encounter: Org-45671 initially appeared intrigued by the presence of the exploration team. They were non-aggressive but approached very closely. Exercising due caution the exploration team retreated without making physical contact with Org-45671, as dictated by protocol the team left respectfully and issued a verbal greeting and promise to return soon in case the organisms were sapient. On subsequent encounters, Org-45671 continued to try to approach members of the exploration team but did not give chase to fleeing researchers. An instance of Org-1046 (Commonly known as Canis Familiaris or the domestic dog) was released nearby a group of Org-45671. They seemed equally interested in Org-1046 and proceeded to approach it. After an initial period of caution from the instance of Org-1046, the instances of Org-45671 made physical contact with it. This took the form of gently scratching its head with one of their taloned feet. Org-1046 showed no obvious negative side-effects of this contact, and subsequent repeated trials with other organisms seem to show that Org-45671 is not immediately dangerous to other organisms. After extended observation it was still undetermined what exactly the diet of Org-45671 is. They have consumed no visible sustenance that any member of the exploration team has seen, nor have they consumed water. Exploration team has requested the use of a class-5 uninvested individual (Org-01, Vol-24875) to make physical contact with Org-45671. Vol-24875 was initially hesitant but after seeing Org-45671's interacting with other organisms became more confident. Vol-24875 took the initiative in making the physical contact, reaching up to stroke the beak of an instance of Org-45671. The instance appeared to accept this interaction, closing its eyes and remaining relatively motionless. This contact continued for approximately sixty seconds whereupon Vol-24875 was recalled and subjected to standard testing. Investiture or otherwise abnormal abilities and properties: After extended examination, scans, autopsies and sDNA sequencing, Org-45671 has been revealed to seemingly posses senses not typical of a species. They appear to have the ability to perceive the subjective realities of others. This seems to explain their ability to understand and accommodate other species and quickly establish rapport. They are instinctively able to perceive the world in exactly the same way as other organisms and thus can easily mimic their behavior or assist them with current needs. sDNA sequencing has also confirmed that Org-45671 appear to feed off of objective truth, the mechanics of how this functions or how they are able to convert this into material sustenance has yet to be explored but contains interesting applications. Containment procedures: Should an instance of Org-45671 need to be contained, contact the Department of Research and Development to procure usage of an appropriate security containment cell in Alley 5i1785. For studies which require full separation of the instance from objective truth use Alley Ψ••∞'s containment facilities instead. (May require approval from a head of department if resources in fully-subjective dimensions are at capacity so that more can be perceived/created) Bindpoints: List of bindpoints applicable to standard avian constructs appears to be applicable to instances of Org-45671. The following additional bindpoints have also been noted: t-47 : Located thirteen millimeters distal to the median of Org-45671’s left patella, with effective spiking diameter of 10 millimeters. When pierced by a tin spike within effective spiking range spike becomes charged with Org-45671's unique sensory ability. (See: Exp-15867) s-31 : Located at the median of Org-45671's third liver, with effective spiking diameter of 0.5 millimeters (Recommend spike of size 15 or smaller). When pierced with an iron spike within effective spiking range, spike becomes charged with Org-45671's ability to warble. (See: Exp-13456) a-03 : Located ████████████████████████████████, with effective spiking diameter of ████████████. When pierced with an Atium spike or an iron spike with at least 99% of it's mass composed of massless particles, spike becomes charged with Org-45671's ability to objectively be an instance of Org-45671.

Record: Exp-15867 Type: Experimental log - Organic Hemalurgic / Spiritual Purpose of Experiment: Investigation of the effects of spiking non-physical senses into a class 5 uninvested volunteer. (Vol-598345, Vol 597560, Vol-597561) Environmental conditions: Experiment conducted in standard conditions, sterilized and uninvested laboratory in a corporeal, non-imaginary Alley. (All-25789) Invested items: Three charged tin spikes (Size 38) utilized in experiment. Each spike was charged by spiking of an instance of Org-45671 through bind point t-47[1] into a standard blood-infused holding case suitable for a size 38 spike. Containment procedures: Standard containment protocols in place, lockdown procedures prepared in the event of unexpected synergies or responses, operating tables preprepared with a Class 4 restraining Aonic pattern, prepared by researcher ████████. Procedure: The three class 5’s were sedated using uninvested sedatives (40 mcg Fentanyl), and laid supine on operating tables. Each class 5 was then spiked with one of the charged spikes (Hereafter referred to as Spi-45671-t47) in a standard sensory bind point (Human bindpoint t-32) creating three instances of Org-01-45671-t47-t32. The class 5’s were observed throughout the procedure and for one hour until sedatives were no longer present in their system. After this period each instance of Org-01-45671-t47-t32 underwent standard personality adjustment assessment and security assessment, followed by an interview conducted by researcher █████. Results: Two of the class 5’s were flagged as having undergone severe personality adjustments during the procedure, however both passed security assessment and thus interviews with each was still conducted. The third class 5 (Vol-598345) began to immediately attempt self harm after spike placement, restraining Aonic pattern was utilized to paralyze Vol-598345 at which point the subjects eyes began to discharge an unidentified green liquid from the tear ducts. Approximately 15 seconds later Vol-598345 expired. Results of autopsy have yet to arrive however initial assessment suggests that the cause of death appears to be exsanguination. Researchers could not come to a consensus on the cause of this behaviour, it is possible that this was not a true class 5 and may have had some innate Investiture that had not been identified and interfered with the procedure, or this may be due to a mental inability to cope with the additional senses. Vol-597560 and Vol-597561 both exhibited increased signs of distress after the experiment and were uncooperative with questions asked during the interview. Both subjects either failed to say anything when asked a question or simply screamed at researchers in a language we have yet to identify. Further class 5’s may be required to validate these findings but it appears that Spi-45671-t47 is unsuitable for use within uninvested individuals at least, experimentation on its effects on a class 3 semi-invested may need to be conducted to determine whether Spi-45671-t47 is suitable for Invested individuals. The two remaining volunteers are to be kept in standard containment cells until further notice. Addendum: 06-03-543 - Vol-597560 attempted to escape containment, subject seems to have gained the ability to discharge a green liquid from their pores, similar to that seen in Vol-598345. This liquid (Mat-01-45671-t47-t32-a) appears to be of a magical but non-Invested nature, possessing the ability to isolate the perception of an object if it is covered with Mat-01-45671-t47-t32-a for a period of at least thirty minutes, rendering it imperceptible to others. Vol-598345 used this to attempt to hide itself and when security-denizens opened the containment cell to examine it, Vol-598345 attempted to escape. Containment Aons captured Vol-598345 during its escape, and after a number of hourse it appeared to become perceivable again. Containment protocols updated to sedate either instance of Org-01-45671-t47-t32 if they attempt to utilize this liquid again. 09-03-543 - Autopsy of Vol-598345 completed, as expected the cause of death seems to be blood loss. Vol-598345's entire circulatory system appears to be devoid of all blood, though it is unclear where exactly their blood has gone. Examination of Vol-597560 and Vol-597561 has revealed that they both still possess blood volume within normal human ranges. Testing of the spike remaining in Vol-598345 revealed that its charge had indeed degraded without the presence of blood in the hosts body. These results suggest that Spi-45671-t47 may be unsuitable for Hemalurgy. Footnotes 1. Located thirteen millimeters distal to the median of Org-45671’s left patella, with effective spiking diameter of 10 millimeters

"Oh," Lita said "If I do need to leave, do I just...Alleytravel out? Is there a special door?" Laurelai turned just as she reached the corridor, giving Lita a quick look over and noticing her exhaustion. She looked like she was ready to collapse the moment Laurelai left, probably not the best condition to be trying to Alleytravel in while she was still so inexperienced. "I'd recommend getting some rest in before you tried it." Laurelai said with a wry smile. "But yes, this area is pretty safe as Alleys go, you should manage fine based on how you did before. Take care, I'll see you soon." With that she gave a small wave as she turned around once more, her dress twirling around as she took one final step into the corridor and vanished, Alleytravelling to the department of records.

That's exactly what it does, confirmed as per the bands of mourning. But that's exactly my point, that's a terrifying ability to be able to compound.
-
A piece of metal the size of a speartip held enough Investiture for all 16 metals Allomantically and feruchemically to TLR levels of strength for an extended period of time. A little bit of metal can hold a lot of Investiture. Also, while I did mention Steelpushing on the moon as an extreme example, it gets dangerous well before that.
-
Also known as ~ 21 rounds of compounding. Exponential growth gets insane very quickly. If you've read Hero of Ages then you'll have a hint as to what happens when someone uses too much Allomancy. In the case of Lerasium it's Ascension. You'd basically just become a super savant. Which, yes, would damage your sDNA but not necessarily kill you. Not really, again the increased speed is only applicable to dodging or getting closer, not when they're actually in melee. And if they're using guns then they can't be using the speed bubble so they're back on equal footing again. Also it is borderline impossible to 'outlast' a gold compounder. The other problem is going to be that if the Bendalloy compounder gets hit literally once then they'll lose. The gold compounder needs to get hit millions of times if not more, without getting hit once in return, that is just going to be impossible. If your goal is distraction and you are able to throw something close enough that an enemy is in range and you're not then there are more useful options which have no point requirements at all.
-
Allomantic Nicrosil? They can Nicroburst to infinity, it's probably the most potentially potent compounder of all of them. Compound Nicrosil, touch a coinshot and for one brief instant they can Steelpush on the moon. Touch a Soother and they can for an instant cause everyone on the planet to feel enough emotion that it could literally kill them. That's not even getting into cross-system applications. Not if the gold compounder is a melee fighter, a Bendalloy misting is only really protected against ranged attacks, which a Gold Compounder is no better with than anyone else by default. It's no more complicated when taken on its own, it just adds more to the list. When possible if something is just analogous to another power, the easiest thing is to avoid duplicate entries and just list it once. Blessings are just standard Hemalurgy and dealt with in the rules for such. It's rare enough that doing it case by case would probably be the preference. Again, keeping the Index as short as possible is ideal. We could list every conceivable synergistic combination of powers at every level of possible skill, knowledge and talent and rate them all but then the Index would be hundreds of pages long and borderline unreadable, it's purpose is to act as a general guide, not deal with every conceivable character. Now some sections definitely do need rework, but I'd rather not add new complexities or additions unless we really need to.
-
It also puts a Bendalloy compounder higher than a gold compounder or a Nicrosil compounder. No formulaic approach is going to be able to capture the variety in compoundings usefulness. We're trying to avoid the index becoming too complicated, simple is best. Yes this occasionally leads to things being a little over or under-powered according to the Index, but we can deal with those case-by-case when needed. Again, it comes down to simplicity. The goal of the index is only to give general guidelines, case-by-case we may adjust an individual characters rating. For example Allomancy also has varying levels of skill, instead of explicitly catering for each level of skill in each metal, it's easier to give general scores that assume average skill level and if someone wants particular proficiency with something we add additional points. Any character in the Alleyverse has access to all non-god metals and will learn of them very quickly if they don't already. Not enough of a limit to prevent a character from reasonably using those abilities.

Laurelai approached Lita carefully, ready to support the other woman if needed. Exhaustion and exsanguination did have a tendency to leave one a little faint. She wouldn't be the first to pass out on their first day with the DA. "Alright, I'll show you to your rooms." Laurelai said. She led the woman through further Alleys, trying to keep the path simple, until the came out in another of the more traditional Alleys, large red brick walls loomed over the pair on both sides as they appeared, and a number of doors dotted the walls. "This is near the department of records, I spend a lot of time around here researching and most of the more... interesting experiments happen in different departments so it's usually quiet at least." She explained as she walked further into the Alley, eventually stopping at a nondescript pale blue door. "And here we are." She cautiously opened the door, peering into the room before entering to ensure there weren't any stray experiments, then gestured Lita to follow her in. Laurelai shut the door behind them and flipped the light switch, illuminating the interior of the somewhat plain room. The floors were a dark, polished wood, the walls a featureless white plasterboard, and a number of corridors led into other rooms. "Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, personal lab." Laurelai said, briefly pointing to each one in turn. "The lab's only got basic stuff, if you need any charged spikes or anything fancy you'll need to pick it up or head to one of the proper labs. Some of the kitchen's have Soulcasters in them but I'd avoid that and just use the normal food, Soulcasted stuff tastes weird if you haven't tried it before." She gave a quick rundown of the house's facilities, instinctively lapsing into a somewhat dull monotone as she did so. A bad habit she still held from her days of solo research when she'd relentlessly muttered to herself about everything. Part of her early attempts to create Essence Marks. "And that's about it." She finished. "I'll let you rest up and see you in a bit, if you need you can try tapping that copper medallion and see if you can pick up Alleycant, the memories should all be there." Laurelai turned to leave, heading towards one of the corridors to begin Alleytravelling to the records departments, there were a few files on experiments she'd wanted to go through and she reasoned that she might need to pick up a bronzemind if she wanted to be done by the time Lita was up again.

Thanks for making the effort for that, a couple of notes: Ett metal cubes should be rated based on what ability they are emulating, they should be rated at least as highly as the ability they give, if not higher in some cases. We don't want any complex calculations if we can avoid it so the ratings for Koloss and Kandra would be problematic. Separate ratings for different metals in the Mistborn and Feruchemist sections don't really make sense, you're either a Mistborn, or a Misting, you can't be a Mistborn with Physical and Cognitive metals but not Enhancement metals. Only way would be Hemalurgy which we calculate separately. Compounders vary wildly in their usefulness, we can't necessarily use a simple formula for them.
