Laurelai's eyebrow twitched in irritation as she heard the voice. She sighed internally before replying to it. "I however, do not." She said softly. "But I must admit to some curiosity as to your exact nature." She'd seen the way the dust suddenly dissipated, whatever this being was it wasn't simply some invisible creature. She'd heard of certain types of Epics that could disperse their material form and become incorporeal. Perhaps something like that? Or some form of cognitive entity that hadn't manifested fully enough to be visible.

The few remaining denizens rolled their eyes as the discussion continued. It wasn't likely to end in anything productive, or change the way they went about their business. The lawyers who were still present shot the other denizens stern looks as this occurred, but didn't exactly seem to disagree.

We try to avoid having links to major canonical characters in backstories, otherwise things could get a little weird. Also the cosmere doesn't directly have any ties with the Rithmatist earth so barring Hoid using the Alleyverse as a waystop he would be unable to reach it. Part of the weird kind of psuedo-canonicity we have going. Very quick scoring: Rithmatics, high level: 60 M Unsealed Steel Metalmind: 40 M (Lower than just being a steel ferring because this can't be recharged) Skills: Intelligence (Genius): 45 S Weaknesses: Against killing -15 Bad with gore: -5 Allergic to Hemalurgy: -10 Curious: -10 Total: 100M + 45 S - 40 W = 105 Should be fine to use, approved.

Sorry about missing this one. Enhanced physical attributes: 35 (Powered by the sun, which is less easy to carry than pewter so little lower than pewter) M Light rays: 40 M Healing: 50 M Skills: Intelligence (smart): 15 Hand-To-Hand expert: 50 Weaknesses: No guns: -10 (Not much of a weakness given that lasers serve the same purpose) Epic weakness: -10 (This is a little more restrictive than most Epic weaknesses but for reference I usually don't subtract any for Epic weaknesses) Total: 125M + 65 S - 20 W = 170 Little OP still, would need some additional weaknesses or scaling down of some of the powers.

The entire house seemed to silently shake for a moment, a few trails of loose dust trickled down from the ceiling and the glassware that had been left on tables rattled for a few moments before the tremor ceased. As the vibrations faded, a faint sound began to be heard throughout the house. A sourceless, high pitched whining sound that seemed to vary in volume between nearly inaudible and a low scream. The creaking sounds from the stairway paused for a moment before being replaced by a series of loud thuds and protesting squeals from the old wooden structure. A young man, the doorman who had greeted them all earlier, came bounding down the stairs, a look of panic on his face. He jumped the last few stairs from the third floor landing onto the second and was spinning to jump down to the first floor when he stopped, looking at the array of people still upon the stairs. His eyes flickered to each of them and then towards the Shardblade that was still drawn. His eyes widened even further in alarm as he began to call out. "Doctor!? There's a little bit of a situation here!"

Laurelai's gaze wandered over the crowd, trying not to miss anyone in her notes as newcomers arrived. She noted down the appearances of the servers as well as they wandered about offering food and drink to the guests. Lita had returned a short while ago and was also watching the crowd, that was good, she hadn't wasted time in getting to the job at hand. With this many people Laurelai wouldn't be able to see everything herself, she needed another set of eyes. But after speaking to Okame for a moment, Lita addressed her. "There's some kind of incorporeal... thing hanging over the party. Do you have any idea what it might be? Okame's spren caught a look at it just now. I've already reported it." Laurelai started for a moment before directing her gaze upwards, she kept her head still so it wouldn't be as obvious but whatever it was was high up, which didn't give her much choice. She slowly turned her head, as though in a stretch, until her eyes caught sight of a dim outline, the same shape that the others had spotted. It wasn't anything she immediately recognized, anyone using Lightweaving would just be able to do the same to the dust around them so it shouldn't be leaving an outline. An Epic perhaps? "Could be anything." She said with a touch of irritation. She hated not knowing something. "But as long as it's just waiting there then we should probably leave it be. If it moves directly over us or it seems threatening then we'll see what we can do." She spared another frustrated glance for the shape. Invisible enemies were not something she was well suited for, but luckily she'd seen Lita's proficiency with tin, she should be able to keep an eye on whatever it was. "Can you keep an eye on it?" She asked Lita. Now, to see if anyone else has noticed it. I wonder what our hosts reactions will be if they see it there?

It could definitely be played as a weakness, but definitely no where near enough to cancel being a Channeler more powerful than Mazrim Taim. That's getting into OP territory even for Randland, which is itself pretty insanely OP compared to most cosmere settings. Particularly not when combined with a High Epic ability, Blademaster level swordsmanship and high level unarmed combat.

A voice from atop the staircase was just on the edges of hearing as the fight began to break out below. "-ou mean you don't know what-" Nitinyas' somber voice drifted down and then suddenly cut off as noise from the stairway drifted back up. A moment later, further creaks could be heard as footsteps began to descend once more.

Laurelai sat silently, her left hand twitched uncomfortably in her sleeve and quickly brushed against the items she'd kept in a Safepouch. They were convenient for avoiding searches, many people knew enough of Vorin culture not to insist that it be searched, but rusts these things felt confining. Still, at least Alethi had some nice fashions. She'd picked out a nice blue dress, and the silver scrolling came out well, accenting the rest of the outfit nicely. But the tight waist and the low hem would make any attempt at running a futile effort. Thankfully she'd taken a leaf out of the Horneater's book and worn something else underneath, in an emergency it would only take a moment for her to drop the dress. She watched the other attendees with interest, naming those she recognized and describing those she didn't. It seemed that there were a number of people interested in what this invitation was about, though the other guilds didn't seem to be sending much of a show of force. Perhaps concerned that it was some kind of trap? She put that train of thought to the side for the moment, focusing on recording information for now. They could speculate later.

Laurelai smiled, looking over at Lita. The response was almost identical to the one that she had given when Laurelai spoke to her the previous night. "You've come to the right place then." She said. "We might need to get you something to wear as well though, the blood might put some people off." Laurelai nodded to the blood splatters across Okame's chest, likely produced when the nearby bodies had been slammed into the wall.

"Yes, though I am confused as to the little rectangle. What is this?" Okame asked, holding the chip out. Not just new to the Alleys then, new to the entire Alleyverse? Laurelai noted. Well he'll be in for a bit of a culture shock. I wonder if he's going to faint when he sees all the exposed safehands? She'd seen it before, some people didn't adjust too well to suddenly being in a giant boiling pot of different cultures clashing together. Nobles tended to do the worst though. She'd seen a Scadrian Noble get half his teeth knocked out once when he assumed that a Lighteyes must be a commoner guard if he was stupid enough to use a metal sword. "These don't have spren." She said drily. "Something else drives them, though it's somewhat similar. I don't think you'll be able to see these ones." She looked over at Lita, who it seems had already found an outfit. "You already had something? Wonderful. I might still need to change myself though." Wearing a dress that she'd stayed up all night studying in would likely not be appropriate. She'd have to think of something new to wear. Maybe something Alethi? Try to blend in with the Skybreaker?

Voidus sat, staring blankly for a moment. "Wait." He said, just as Mac was turning to leave. The corner of Voidus' mouth curved upwards, some of the tension faded from him, His clenched jaw unlocked, the near-permanent frown he usually wore smoothed out, and his shoulders settled into a relaxed posture. "If an Aspect of his has been spotted then he'll be returning sometime soon. And you're right, we should have something to welcome him back." Voidus stood, looking towards the ceiling though once again seeming to look through it more than anything. He still couldn't see where the Stranger was, but knowing that his old friend was returning would indeed be welcome news. "But before that, you seem to have recovered nicely from our training." A smile still tugged at the corner of Voidus' mouth, but the rest of his expression settled back into a business-like mask. "Are you ready for the next steps?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Laurelai nodded politely as the Macs spoke, she had never been entirely certain of the relationships between the various Macs, but Mac had never led her astray since she'd joined the Alley. If he had a mission for her then she would do her best to complete it. Plus she'd likely get the chance to try a few different Soulstamps while mingling. For the barest instant her mouth twitched into a sly grin before it settled once more into a simple, polite smile. "I've got a wardrobe as well if needed." She commented to Lita. Laurelai needed to keep a range of clothes, multiple styles, even some made for different builds. Soulstamps that went back far enough could affect her growth so she needed a small range to hand for emergencies.

Epic powers: Plant growth/manipulation: 40 Other time abilities: 30 Skills: Intelligent (30), Scholar (30) Weaknesses: -30 Total: 100 May have undershot it this time but definitely within reasonable limits now. Approved. (As a thought: Since he's in the DA you could maybe have him have his initial powerset(The OP one) but can't use anything beyond what's here when he's outside of DA territory due to the Sudiov nerf) And I'll move Gavris for you as well. EDIT: Having just rechecked Galvris I've just remembered that they're well outside normal power limits, they were definitely within the OP character ranges. Laurelai approached the two bodies on the wall, looking a little closer at them. There wasn't anything too unusual about the bodies, other than the means of death for one of them, she also didn't recognize them from anywhere. Why had someone thought the DA would want one of them dead? She shook her head slightly to dismiss the thought, it was likely some project for a department, or even an individual denizen, that she wasn't familiar with. But regardless, she was the one who had found it first, which made it her problem now. "And how do you feel about other people fighting?" She asked as she looked back at the man. Okame if she'd heard correctly? "We have plenty of people who don't do a lot of front-line fighting, myself included, but you'd still have to interact regularly with those who do." Radiants could be frustratingly stubborn about their oaths and how rigidly they adhered to them, it was one of the reasons that the DA tended to spike surges from spren directly rather than stealing the bond with one. It meant more spikes, but less restrictions. Voidus sat in his office, a steel spike held idly in one hand. In rapid succession he stabbed himself in each of the thirty eight bindpoint on his left hand, striking with pinpoint accuracy through each one. Blood began to seep out of the wounds for a moment but was shortly pulled back as the wounds were healed. It was a simple exercise, one they used to give to new denizens to help them learn bindpoints and become used to the cycle of pain and relief brought from healing. Nowadays many took shortcuts, using unsealed copperminds to learn the bindpoints. But Voidus still believed there was benefit to the old techniques like this, there was no better way to learn than to get your hands a little bloody. The door burst open suddenly, Mac springing into the room with a strange expression on his face that took Voidus a second to identify. Was Mac smiling? And so soon after exhausting himself from their previous training? "What in the world..." Voidus muttered. Mac didn't seem like he'd broken from the stress, but what could possibly cause such a sudden shift in his personality? "Is everything alright?" He asked.

A second recruit? It's not even my department. Laurelai tried to smile politely as she felt a headache brewing. Still, Lita was definitely a good find. This one might be useful too. And a Skybreaker? Not a lot of them around here. The DA didn't tend to abide by other peoples laws other than accidentally. But if he was looking for someone to provide laws, well she had to admit that if any single group in the Alleyverse had the power to enforce any laws it would likely be them. "I see." She replied. "Well it's not exactly my area but I can see what I can do at least." She pulled her pen out once more, this time it seemed more a nervous habit, a staccato twirling between fingers, mixed with a few clicks of the pen for emphasis. Finally she stopped the pen's motion with a thumb and palmed it for the moment, keeping it to hand in case someone tried to reply directly. Sales & recruitment weren't always the most reliable departments, they might drop by, they might just send approval, or they might just leave her waiting for a while. "What can you tell us about yourself?" She asked. "Beyond being a Skybreaker." Learning more about him would be helpful either way, either something to give to recruitment, or if all else failed, a basis for a Forgery.
