Laurelai's expression wavered for a moment as Lita asked about the Nightwatcher. Her brow furrowed for a moment before she focused once again and forced herself to impassiveness. She paused for a second before replying, running through a quick mental exercise to maintain her calm. Just like a Stamp. Become a person who isn't curious about that, just a scholar. A scholar with some information that might be helpful to a curious student. "The Nightwatcher is... complicated." Laurelai began. Her voice still wavered slightly but she maintained control over it. "A spren of some kind, as best we can tell. A little piece of Cultivation. She grants a blessing and a curse to those who visit her, sometimes related but usually not. And very rarely gives you what you wanted directly, or at the least not in the way you expected." It was a question that Laurelai wondered herself. She'd studied the Nightwatcher in great detail, though she'd never made a return trip to visit her on Roshar. They said it was impossible anyway, she didn't see people twice. But she also didn't remember the first time she'd seen the Nightwatcher. She was young at the least, but she couldn't even recall precisely what age it was, just what she had been given, and what she had been cursed with.

I just enjoy telling riddles and I know a bunch off the top of my head but I also know that you could probably google most of those and it wouldn't be that much fun for me if I told a riddle and someone instantly answered it because they just used a search engine. Kind of ruins it for me. But I'm in it now so will see how things go.

Not currently it's not, and if it were then you using the word point would be a UNO! Even if we were to take it as implied that Dappers First rule also applies to the singular case, you'd have to apply the same logic to both the word point and Egg or you're being logically inconsistent and I would argue violating the Rules Lawyering Rule. :3 Rock paper scissors? If more people want to play I'll happily join the PM and I guess see how things go, I'm just not that optimistic about its outcome. I do love me some riddles though.

I'm not a fan of riddles when played via the internet, too easy for people to just google the answers to any well-known riddles and personally made riddles usually have too many perfectly valid answers which are still, nontheless, not what the riddle poser intended and so are ruled as wrong. :3 I'm glad that caught on. Do you mean the plural of Eggs? (Given that there is an ammendment to change Eggs to eggs I assume that we're insisting that the capitalization is relevant) But even so, Eggs is already plural so do you mean the plural of the singular form of Eggs should be eggses? Or that if the plural is itself pluralized that it should be eggses?

None taken, and thanks for your feedback. Nothing is decided yet, that's why we want to collect feedback for a while first, I'm doing some initial investigation as well. If it's particularly low maintenance I might even be able to set something up as a showcase, people can explore it for a bit and then if we don't like it we can just continue to use the Shard. I would like people to give it a try if we received wide spread community agreement for it, but I understand if people can't. I struggle for time already as well from time to time. So yeah, no pressure for people if you're not in favour of this, we would only implement it if we thought the benefits outweigh the demerits so it's not something we'd get upset about if people disagree.

Simply stating UNO would still not be a UNO! able offense even were that to be the accepted interpretation. I didn't implement any changes in game state or Egg changes. :3

I would say that is still referring to me, in which case you're in violation of rule 17 so UNO! :3 But for the sake of people actually being allowed to talk to me I withdraw my previous proposal.

One quick thought for people's consideration, we could potentially do away with guild PMs by having different access roles for different groups, and each guild could have its own subforum which isn't visible to those outside of the guild.

Nice proposal O Great One, Leader of Us All. I do not support it though. Per Meta's clause I propose: This proposal is to be considered a proposal. I withdraw that proposal.

:3 is a representation of an animal, and has been consistently ruled as such. We'd need to UNO about 80 posts at this point if we wanted to rule that it doesn't satisfy rule 15.

UNO! Violation of rule 15, which means this post is considered to not exist. Unrelated note: I propose that 'Eggs' should be referred to as 'I support Rule 16 as well as the amendment which is currently proposed for it now and in perpetuity with no restriction and hereby waive my right to withdraw this support' :3

Technically double posting is allowed on this site, it just requires particular circumstances.

Just realized this may have been giving some people who were checking the topic feed some wrong impressions that this may be referring to a new website for the Shard in general so have renamed the thread.

I am indeed a prominent shipper, but a mod first. So if someone is genuinely uncomfortable with a topic being discussed and that topic is not relevant to the OP of the thread that it is in, then I would ask people to stop discussing it. That said, this is a pretty open thread so there's not really anything particularly off topic for it. It comes down to whether or not this genuinely makes you uncomfortable for people to discuss or if this is just personal preference / not of interest to you. @BringerofShadows

Firstly, not sure if you replied before or after I edited but I realized on re-reading that the original post came across as more aggressive than I intended so apologies if it seemed like that (Problems with intention versus literal reading again ) I completely agree as a general rule, but for the purposes of this game as they currently stand you can't. There is a rule that explicitly states that things are to be taken as they are assumed to be intended. (I acknowledge that applying this interpretation to the rule itself is circular, but given that this rule is about how to read and interpret things, any reading of it is going to ultimately be circular) This was my thought as well, that needing to have a full community vote every time we wanted to parse the nuances of a rule would result in play time being even longer than it already is, just adding another thing to the backlog of things people would have to vote for. Well if all else fails there's the loophole that I pointed out earlier, that The Slightly Altered Internal Consistency Plea does not apply to the post in which it was established, leaving it open to interpretation and deliberate misapplication. In terms of imposing the Rules Lawyering Rule, I think it's prone to some of the same issues, namely that people might rules lawyer the rules lawyering rule itself. That's always going to be the problem I think, any time you try to arbitrate how people can interpret a rule, that rule is itself going to need to be interpreted before it can be applied. I honestly don't know a good way to resolve the issue but I can say that my normal degree of rules lawyering is going to be limited to the level that I mentioned earlier, of whether or not a rule stating something about a plural applies to the singular. If we think that is acceptable enough that it's at least not a definitive violation of rules lawyering then I'm happy to agree to support this and can promise that I at least will not attempt to dispute that understanding of the rule. Perhaps in the interests of time and avoiding punishing people for honest misunderstandings we can state that so long as someones interpretation of the rule is at the least ambiguous and not obviously incorrect, then that person cannot undergo any point loss for the misunderstanding, though once the rule has been clarified no player may make use of he same erroneous interpretation. (Eg. If we later decide that Dappers first law should apply to the singular, those who have not adhered to that aspect of it are not punished for previous posts, but can be punished for future posts if they make the same mistake) And again I acknowledge that technically that means I'm supposed to propose something new but we already have too much on the backlog so: I propose the following: Proposal of not a proposal: This proposal should not exist. I also withdraw this proposal from consideration as there is no current rule forbidding this from happening. And since I don't need to make a point anymore, my cat is no longer going to be in a white font coloring so everyone can actually see it. :3

Alright well there seems to be sufficient interest in this that I'll start doing some research into options. I'll need to have a few conversations to see how viable some of this stuff is and see what's available. I'm a fan of customization which does rule out a lot of template-forum type options. But I'll see what's possible and keep everyone updated. Weird way for this thread to turn out.

The doorman looked at all of them, wide eyed, his gaze flickered from the one who had been holding a Shardblade, to the one with blood crusted around his face, to the one asking him questions. Beads of sweat began trickling down his scalp as his eyes continued darting around like a scared rabbit trying to find somewhere safe to rest. He eventually settled for staring at the floor nervously, with occasional glances behind him back up the stairway. "Ettmetal?" He said, addressing Wilhelm's question first. "I'm not sure if it uses... I mean I don't really know that much about... You're not supposed to be up here you know?" His voice tilted upwards at the end and he seemed as uncertain of his own words as he was the entire situation. As he spoke the high pitched screeching seemed to fade back into silence once more and several loud sounds of metal against metal took its place, this time echoing down from the top of the staircase. The doorman spared a glance back for the door and seemed to slump in relief as some of his tension faded. "Just some small issues." He said uncertainly, now turning to Lizanne. "But, I believe everything has been resolved. No need to panic, nothing wrong anymore." He seemed to be trying to reassure himself more than any of them.

Personally I think funding it solo is more ideal, if we do donations then there's a bunch of legal stuff I'd have to look into, but I do appreciate the offer. If pricing is going to be prohibitive enough that it would need people to donate then I'll look into it. Yeah one of the main implications would be that we'd have no obvious source of new players unless we linked to the RP on the Shard itself, which I'd need to discuss with the admins because it is technically advertising. I'd probably want to talk to the admins regardless actually, not sure if there's any implications for the Shard itself that I'm not thinking of.
