I still take issue with that, Compounders tap 1000x multipliers at once, I find it difficult to believe that Hemalurgic decay would relegate Inquisitors to being unable to store even the usual 20% or so, unless the spike had been left out for years.

Technically yes, but we've been able to predict the uses of some metals through it, (Chromium and Nicrosil were speculated to do what they do because they're the external enhancement metals) And considering that its Alloy is definitely Temporal as well I'd say they were fairly spot on with its accuracy.

We do actually see something quite like this when Szeth half-lashes something upwards so he can kick it at some people (I think it was a table) and a multiple downward Lashing would have a similar effect to increasing your Inertia. Granted it's not an exact correlation but I think they're far too similar to use both.- 89 replies

How do you figure? Not much has been shown in terms of skill level in feruchemy.

Thug dodgeball would be pretty brutal.

What Lyre said basically, so short answer yes, their pushes would stack, I think we actually see this with Vin and Elend in HoA with the door they're Pulling on.

With you on that SF, if I just disagree with someone I almost never downvote them, I just try and explain the issues I have, I think most people are the same and just keep downvotes for particularly rude posts or ones against the spirit of the community.

I've always had a problem with this, I think that sometimes people mistake Compounding for being equal to infinite supplies, sure you could be 1000x luckier than most people most of the time with a bit of effort but even then you're just going to have good days most of the time, think about the best day you have in a 3 year period. Yes that'd be great to have everyday, but it's not quite like you're going to win the lottery everyday, then discover a Lerasium mine in your backyard or anything.

I think that a bit of the problem, with regard to artworks is that some areas of the forum are more often visited than others so people can counter pointless downvotes quicker by upvoting them. I do agree with Meg on that one, I was curious as to why we upgraded to a system where you only see the average of up and downvotes, was it just to focus more on the community opinion rather than individuals or was it just a random addition to the massive forum upgrade?

(Theory) The Tanavallah: a Surgebinders Guide to Harmonics

Because Windrunning directly influences the force of gravity, but Inertia is defined by having a direction Inertia without changing mass at all though would just be a Basic Lashing, so I don't really know what you're meaning here. But there's no indication that that's even vaguely necessary, aside from which you are giving the investiture to the object, this is clearly shown, with Duralumin you're taking it in yourself, changing something about yourself, this is giving it to another object and changing something about that object, quite different. And the more we have to twist what we already know to suit this theory the less likely it is, we should be adjusting the theory to suit what we see in the books rather than inventing things that aren't in the books to support the theory.- 89 replies

But you wouldn't usually add an undertext to just a copy, that's the work of scribes rather than someone who actually had direct input on the original. It could be really interesting if they did though, you'd get to see the progress of how the book is regarded by society as time goes on, each scribe adding their own undertext.

Those are both a bit of a stretch I'd say, Soulcasting changes something about other objects, there's no indication that it changes your spirit to be charming, the only real example we have was the goblet which didn't require any convincing at all and involved giving the investiture directly to the object to be Soulcasted. As for Szeth when he Lashes himself he changes his own spiritual bond to the earth, which should be internal.- 89 replies

I doubt that the Surges follow Internal External patterns like Scadrial, so far Gravity, Pressure, Transformation, Lightweaving and (Probably on this one) Travel are all able to effect External things (Or both external and internal) So unless all 5 of the remaining Lashes are Internal then we have a problem Particularly given the effects of the Dustbringers in the prelude (Although they may not have been KR's) But also since Gravity effects both internal and external things (Can lash yourself as well) how can you say it's external?- 89 replies

Well Brandon did at one point IIRC say that he wouldn't mind releasing like an epic collectors edition like they do with Video games, with extra material (I think he mentioned annotations) and like a statue, maybe a fabrial with fake gemstones or something for SA I guess. I'd pay over $100 for that.

Inertia is a vector though, it needs direction, otherwise you're just increasing mass.- 89 replies

I think that the other thing in its favour to show that it's not abused is the relative number of downvotes to upvotes, people are much more liberal with upvotes, most regulars are over 100 Rep but I've never seen anyone with anywhere close to that amount of negative rep, or any long term posters even with neutral rep, most members will even out the downvotes that are unjustified or too harsh so its really only on the posts that really need to be worked on that'll still have downvotes on them.

Yeah downvoting an admin doesn't have any dire consequences, they just express their thanks for the criticisms in spike form. And everyone loves spikes, Love the spike!

For practical purposes though that's just a basic lashing, (Weight and direction) just that the actual mass (Rather than just your weight) changes, far too similar I think for them to both be surges.- 89 replies

I'm happy with the Admins reasons for the downvotes, I think it's quite necessary sometimes, it might be nice if there was a way to anonymously leave a comment attached to each up or downvote for criticisms or to explain why, but that'd probably be way to difficult, I don't think it's really a problem for most members, except sometimes the newer members who go into negative which could be disheartening but that's already been addressed. I really like the 'popular' tags that were added a while ago too, I thought they're a great way to encourage really awesome topics and posts.

But Brandon has said that some stuff will occur on multiple worlds so it's a possibility, although I think that Windrunner abilities would probably render it more or less obsolete.- 89 replies

I'd love to read all the undertexts, although unfortunately I don't know if there would be any in Way of Kings since men could write at Nohadons time (From Dalinar's vision)

Yeah I'd definitely agree that he's almost certainly going to be in one of the orders, at the very least he'll be a user of one of the systems of magic on Roshar, but given the glowing with the Plate thing I'd probably say KR actually now that I think about it, we might be able to tell what order from the glow since Adolin thought it must have been just Stormlight, does Stormlight have a particular colour or is it gem-dependent? I always imagined it as a lightish blue but I don't remember any specific mentions...

Voidus replied to Isomere's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I only just noticed Rubix's new sig, that should be the welcome page But yeah I doubt there's going to be too much in the way of elemental stuff, not the traditional elements as well, you pointed out that by combining the elements you can receive the Ten Essences but that's kind of the point of the whole element philosophy isn't it? That everythings made out of them? So it's a bit of circular reasoning to say that that means it's applicable to the cosmere.- 89 replies

It might be a good question to confirm with Brandon, whether the whole swearing to only use animal bodies has changed or whether there are multiple factions or what's going on.
