I think the more concerning point is that no one just looked up with a telescope and said "Hey does anyone else see some angry dude with wings glowing in the sky? What's up with that?"

Have you considered a career with the Dark Alley in the social guilds section? On the sDNA/Spiritweb/Soul issue there's still quite a bit of confusion on the exact distinction between terms, would the clone essentially be like a drab? This seems like the most likely scenario but equally likely is that the sDNA that it carries with it is enough to produce a functioning soul with some (if not identical at least similar) metalborn trait

I swear I'll finish reading that post soon, I just keep getting distracted by Epic ideas Also sparkly things. As some people may have guessed I've been sick for a few days and mildly drugged up.

Loud and annoying? Check Interrupting the one moment you're trying to do something? Check Breaks a bunch of stuff and doesn't pay for it? Check. Irritating noon-day shopper confirmed.

Eerily close to the broad outline I already have going which is a necromancer who can reanimate humans but when he brings them back they have his face and act more like zombies than anything, he murdered his identical twin and is terrified of anyone ever discovering the body to the point that if anyone sees him with a dead body it activates his weakness.

This term is doing a number on my spelling OCD*, I'm not sure if I like the fact that it's spelled the way that phonetically it really should be spelled or if I hate that it differs from the obvious root word in spelling. *Note: I do not have OCD. I've checked. 17 times. I prevent myself from catching it by always washing my hands an even number of times.

I would dearly love to see the backstory of whichever Epic that is but no It was in one of the earlier 'day in the life of's. (That being said I am now scrambling to make an Epic who has that as their weakness)

He tends to have that effect on people He received some character development when I mentioned him a few threads back so I thought since I'm unlikely to introduce him in any of the current WHI's I might as well let everyone know what his day's been like. Probably not, although details of his Rending are far more disturbing. The astute reader may have noticed that I have revealed a weakness in this thread though.

I was sure David did know about Rendings when they were mentioned in Firefight. I could be wrong but I also think it would at least be pretty commonly believed even as just an urban legend. Rendings of Epics like Steelheart and Obliteration for example would have been pretty big news.

Sorry to ruin the dream But there may still be hope:

On the houses front: PP would be in all of the houses of course Impact is probably in Ravenclaw, MV in Slytherin Scribbler would be a Gryffindor I don't really know that the Adventurer would fit in any house Bioterror would probably go for Slytherin I don't think I've ironed Cornucopia out enough to really tell but probably slytherin or Hufflepuff Soulcaster would be a Ravenclaw And Metronome would of course be the headmaster

I don't really have much to add here after Kaymyth's correction on the thermodynamics issue, if you're not convinced by it that's fine by me, I've yet to see papers that sucesfully refute either and I've seen enough work on both cosmology and abiogenesis to think that while we may not have a perfect answer to either that it's close enough given the resources we have. (We don't have a billion years and several trillion planets to play around with to search for abiogenesis) The issue of being the only code that wasn't designed is a complicated one, it's really more of a linguists field than anything, it ultimately depends how you define a code, study enough of the chemistry underlying DNA and lines start to blur a bit, but again, linguistics and philosophy are not really my fields so I could certainly be wrong. On the atheism is a religion front, it's a common assertion and one which I completely and wholeheartedly disagree with but it's ultimately a matter of semantics, I would point out that if you define atheism as a religion then you must have a relatively broad definition of a religion since atheism has no leader, no fundamental tenets other than not believing in any gods and no belief in the supernatural, but if that does fall under your definition of a religion then that's fine I guess.

I'm surprised that it took this long for someone to start turning Stormlight into a yaoi.

Well I'd point out that there are a limited number of ways to achieve the same end, other than increasing durability (Which obviously the Shardplate already does) there might be no way to block a Shardblade. Simply being invested doesn't seem to work, or if it does it needs levels of Investiture far beyond what Shardplate is supplied with. But agree to disagree I guess, the connection was really just a way to mire the theory in already established canon but it holds without it, I'd speculate that Shardplate increases the durability of its wearer even without the example of half-Shards to work off of.

Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!

A really quick scroll through the page and the words 'oh dear calamity the ham' jumped out at me. So thanks Twi for the amusing moment. I don't know the rest of the story since my scroll wheel is like a hamster on steroids but I like to let my imagination fill in the gaps and assume you were attacked by some kind of ham-wielding MLP hater. I hope you threw mustard into his eyes. -
Pretty sure that the Ardents Soulcast buildings out of air at some point, which is essentially the same thing. (Soulcasting a small subset of air rather than all of it) But my opinion is that Jasnah knows how to Soulcast in a somewhat different manner, especially since she's also used it on living beings to kill them which seems unlikely, Shallan had trouble convincing a stick not to be a stick, it'd be a lot harder to convince a person to self-immolate in the span of 2 milliseconds. That being said the potential model I'd use is that we are talking about the cognitive realm here, Jasnah as the person using the piece of paper is probably the primary source for its cognitive identity, if she really believed that it was a bunch of different letter-shaped pieces of paper that were stuck together then Shadesmar would probably reflect that.

Well Shardblades and presumably Plate too weren't really fabrials and I have my theories on Soulcasters but also half-shards were explicitly designed to try to emulate an aspect of Shardplate so even if that's generally speaking true given that imitation was the whole point I'm inclined to believe Half-Shards may have more in common with Plate than the spanreed.

ShardWire Create incredibly thin strand of ShardWire. String up at approximately chest-height at the edge of a plateau. Wait for a Chasmfiend to pupate. Enjoy.

BoardJumper's Rending involved no murder but was also more horrible than you could possibly imagine. If I ever canonized it I'm sure he'd earn an instant 5 or 6 places on the ATTD list.
-
Well they won't manage to do it before BoardJumper who holds the power of always knowing what will be trending in advance
