  1. I literally know no Tolkien fans other than my dad and myself.
  2. What about the cookie*? I can offer you one as well. *Disclaimer Everyone knows two cookies are better than one!
  3. That's why I turned it off.
  4. I did post on here before, but it was really short and just blech. It was also one of my first posts, so... Yeah... It all started a little more than a year ago. I was chatting with @LionTale_Writer, and she told me about Sanderson. I just kinda went, "Oh, that's nice," then went on with life. A few weeks later, my family was up in Twin Falls, or Idaho Falls, can't remember, and we went into a B&N. Where Brandon was having a signing. I was like, "Oh. [Insert @LionTale_Writer's name here] really likes his books. Cool." I went past the super long line, (it was longer than the one at the signing in Provo. We only waited an hour, and we were fifth in line!) and saw that this one book I had really liked head a sequel. Then we left. When I next talked to her, I told her about the signing. She said all her books were signed. And she had met him several times. I just kinda went "Blech." Then we went to Salt Lake, and went to the Gateway mall. We went into the B&N there, and I saw the SA on display at the end of one of the bookshelves. So, why not? I got a mass market paperback copy of tWoK. It was April 19. I found the recite in my bag a few weeks ago. I still have it. I read tWoK over the course of three weeks. When I got to school the next Monday, I saw @Cel reading it too! Then the day I finished it, I checked out the library's copy of WoR. I read it in eight days. Now, I own 24 of his books. (I have multiple copies of each tWoK and WoR. Why not)? I went to a signing two weeks ago, and got (I feel kinda bad about this) fifteen books signed. I'm on my sixth reread of tWoK, I've read WoR five times, and OB twice. I consider myself a bit of an expert on Roshar. Most people here heard about Sanderson by reading tWoT. I heard about tWoT by reading Sanderson. I am going to start reading tGH once I'm done with tBoM and the Two Towers. I swear, his books have changed my life. And sorry for such a long post. I had a lot to say.
  5. Anything by Shannon Hale is good. Especially the Goose Girl and it's sequels. I forgot what the series itself is called. But it is YA. And it takes a bit to get into the first book. But the second one and the fourth are my personal favorites.
  6. To build onto what @MacThorstenson said, have a cookie* and an upvote! *Disclaimer
  7. Does that include his WoT books? When your birds wake you up in the morning, and you say, "No, you can't have my pain! Go back to sleep!" When you wake up in the morning and don't get out of bed for two hours because several people who are on this one RP you do are on.
  8. I just put "Waving Through a Window" from Dear Evan Hansen through google translate then back again.

    Spoiler

learned to slam on the brake
Before I even turn the key
    Before I make the mistake
Before I lead with the worst of me

    You no reason to stare
No slipping when you slip away
So I have nothing to share
No, I have nothing to say

Step out, step out of the sun
    If you have repeatedly burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you learned because you learned

On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I always was?
Because I'm tapping, tapping, tapping on the glass
    I wave through a window
I try to speak, but no one can hear
So I wait to appear an answer
While I watch, watch, watch people pass
I wave through a window, OH
Can anyone see is anyone waving back at me?

We start with stars in our eyes
We begin to believe that we belong
But every sun does not rise
And nobody tells you where they went wrong

If you fall in a forest and there's nobody around
Have you ever really crash, or even a sound?

  9. @podman36 How apposed are you towards the DA? When you make these: Vin as Valette, Hoid, Shallan, Syl, Raoden, and Jasnah. When you are on your sixth time reading tWoK. I've also read WoR five times, and OB twice.
  10. Can I get your recipe? By PM, if you'd like.
  11. Ignore @Archer! And his signature! (Although it is pretty great). Have a cookie*! *disclaimer
  12. Well, hello. I am Tesh, the, erm, founder? of the Knights of the Cosmere. The Knights of the Cosmere is a decent sized role playing group, though most of our members are inactive. We have a role play on a PM, so if you'd like to join, I'll tell you how to go about doing that in a minute. This thread will basically just be for updates, general conversation among members, and ones who would like to join, and a catalog of sorts to keep track of all the members. To join: Members: Rules: RP #3 will be starting in a few weeks, and recruiting will end for a while. If you want to read the role plays, @AonEne has them in a Google Doc, and you can ask her for the link.
  13. They did the same thing with the flashbacks in OB and tWoK. Shallan's picture was like that until she and Jasnah were separated. (And, @RShara, technically, Shallan did go back into Shadesmar twice after that. If you count the time where she soulcasted The Wind's Pleasure. Then the "I am a stick" sequence). Then in OB, the chapters from Jasnah's PoV are also headed by the picture of Shadesmar. It's probably just because when Shallan thought she had lost Jasnah, she sort of pushed her soulcasting ability aside, and focused on lightweaving instead.
  14. Just how it works. We know there's eight different types of blood, but I had no clue how the DNA part works. Then he said that, and I realized it made sense that soulcasters can't choose the blood type.
  15. As @theRoyalDingus, and @Iron_Ape said, do eat the cookies*! Here's one, and there's an upvote as well. Welcome to the Shard! *Disclaimer
  16. It has a yellow cover. Seriously, three days at school, and there's fingerprints all over it! And it wouldn't fit in my backpack.
  17. So that's how you join... Okay, introductory board, here I come!
  18. I'm reading tBoM, by Sanderson, obviously. The Two Towers, Tolkien, again, obvious. And I'm rereading Oathbringer.
  19. They have a non-hemallurgic department?
  20. I finally met Brandon. One week ago, at the Provo signing. I went with @Cel. We ate cookies afterwards. They weren't spiked. And (I feel sortta bad about this, though I don't know why) I got 15 books signed. (Don't look at me like that! I even had to leave three at home! (And got another one in B&N the next day). I told you not to look at me like that! Yes, I know I've got a bit of an obsession, but I think if you're on this site, you have to have one). I got my braces off on Wednesday! (And now have crappy retainers that I have to wear 24-7 for the next three weeks. Then I get the more traditional ones). It was a snow day today, and my dad and I went skiing. Our local ski resort got about three feet of snow. And I spent forever on the shard. I threw a pretzel at our wood burning stove, and yelled, "begone, demon!" (When you close the door, you can't hear the fire! The only reasonable explanation is that is is possessed by a demon). I ate the pretzel. I don't know why that's good news.
  21. Congrats! (And I don't blame you. Lovely lot of nerds on here). (That probably made no sense). (Eh. I got my meaning across). (I'll leave now).
  22. I'd like to join. I can contribute Rock's apple pie recipe. And lots of metal knitting needles. (Role play joke).
  23. One of my family members is really good friends with Emily Sanderson. So my cousin has met Brandon several (three, I think?) times. And I own books 1-4 of tWoT, and have only read tEotW. (Which I loved). I only started reading them to get to the last three, though. But I finished tEotW in August. It has taken me about a year to read all six MB books. I'm in the middle of tBoM right now. I'm not wearing my retainers right now.
  24. We have it on a PM, although we do have a Discord server. I can't find a way to get it, (stupid technology...) so I'm not on it. Although we do have a separate page for random conversations. On a PM. It works pretty well. There are a few inconvenient things, like no upvotes, but that's about it. I'll add both of you right now.
