  1. I wonder what if all of this will lead Kaladin to become the "good parshendi"'s defender and later their leader. And then both he and Dalinar will try to create some sort of peace between them.
  2. Well, Adolin, this attempt to give a hint to Shallan that the first killer was you, has failed cause of transparency. Keep trying cause i feel that storm is coming. Everything is too good for both of you and you are too often say each other that you dont want to screw your relatonships up. I bet you both gonna screw your relationships up.
  3. Elhokar now got the same treatment as Renarin a couple weeks ago. Renarin didn't do anything before to think he is able to be a copycat killer, to kill people like that. The same with Elhokar now. Based on his behavior and things he did before i would never call him a manipulative evil bastard. Well, he tried to trick Dalinar in TWoK but it was a child-level trick and he was punished for that. Plus come on, he loves Navani enough to not mess with the man she loves. Pretty sure the following events would confirm his intentions were clear and good.
  4. There are interesting possibilities for Dalinar-Adolin situation. On one hand, consequences aside, i think Dalinar wont judge Adolin for Sadeas death. He himself did much more terrible things to judge his son, especially since it wasn't the "knife in the back" situation. Adolin killed Sadeas in a more honest and reasonable fight, than, said, Dalinar killed Tanalan. So, I'm pretty sure he won't blame Adolin, or banish him, or turn his back on him. He is not hypocrite. On other hand, taking into account the consequences, try to imagine what the hell will happen inside Dalinar when everyone and he himself will find out that his son killed Sadeas. The man who constantly tells everyone about the union of nations, the man who constantly reminds with his own presence about the Honor, the man, who believe that the humankind can do better and the man who was promised to be the new Messiah for humankind. Suddenly, his son killed one of the bright lords in a pretty dirty way, a knife in the eye. That would lead to an interesting situation. Dalinar will have the two roads: 1) To step aside, ashamed, and let someone else to lead the humankind for sake of Honor; 2) To move forward for the sake of humankind. That WOULD require the Honor betrayal. It would be interesting if hell choose the second road and that will slowly turn him into the Odium's champion.
  5. I like how someone mentioned on reddit that Taravangian started his letter to Dalinar with "Your Majesty". Like he knew. Or Taravangian simply used logic and assumed based on Dalinar's reputation, that if he started to gather the nations, then he have already seized the throne. Maybe
  6. For me that type of line indicates that Dalinar really killed the boy. It has a little sense for BS to make Dalinar remember the sound of brave boy crying if Dalinar didnt kill him.
  7. Finally read the new chapters. That way of reading is actually great. Dammit id actually pay weekly for Oathbringer's 3 chapters to be released every week untill the very end of the book. That would make... almost a year for the book to be read fully. That would make the waiting for SA4 less painful. As for the chapters. -Kaladin knows how to be a rock-star! He really looks and acts like the one. Its pretty awesome after all these brooding and gloomy moments in WoK and WoR. I love this Kaladin. -Interesting note about 1 to 2 spheres exchange. I wonder will Sanderson give a new spin to that moment or not. What if Kaladin will come back to find out city-lords used the spheres he gave them for their own sake telling people Kaladin did nothing to help them, and people will hate him for that. That would make an interesting conflict and give the new layer on lighteyes-dakreyes theme. -The scene with that ardent, Syl and sex-talk was amazing. I actually thought Kaladin would make a Shallan-related comment when he saw the ugly picture ardent drew for him. And i wonder was this play of words intentional on Sanderson part. Syl said Kaladin liked Shallan, and Kaladin thought her words struck uncomfortably close to the truth. Not "struck as the truth", but "close to the truth". If it was an intentional word play, then Kaladin either "less than like Shallan", or "more than like Shallan". I think Sanderson implied that Kaladin more than like "that Lightweaver" given previous excerpts from WoR. -Dalinar was a monster. Actually, i read his chapter being afraid of hating him by the end of him. I dont want to start hating him. But that chapter was tough to read. I really wonder what happened that changed Dalinar so much. Because... he was a bastard and i was totally on Tanalan's side during their combat. And that scene with the boy and his mother, ugh. I thought Dalinar was gonna finish unconscious Tanalan in front of his son and wife's eyes but he did something even worse. And i dont think he left the boy alive. The part with "remembering the sound of a brave boy crying" heavily implied he killed him. Notice how Sanderson didnt let us know what Dalinar did with that beautiful woman. Did he kill her too? Raped and killed? Raped and took as his wife later? Just took as his wife? And if that woman is Shshshshs, then i wonder was and if she was then HOW was she happy to live with Dalinar, the murderer of her previous husband? Were Adolin and Renarin the sons of great love or the sons of unhappy marriage? -Sadees is the Sunmaker. And Sadeas wanted his sword. Its funny that Sanderson named the Sunmaker and a bastard almost similarly. Sadees and Sadeas. That was intentional and what was the meaning of that? -Its shocking, but Kaladin and Bridge Four were bought in exchange of the sword that Dalinar got killing the 6 years old boy. Im pretty sure Kaladin wouldnt be happy to know this detail. -So its confirmed that horses are not belong to Roshar. It was obsious. Every creature that has hairs dont belong to Roshar. Its the world of shells, clutches, corals and seaweed-like plants. I wouldnt be surprised if evolution on Roshar was influenced by the ocean and storms. Maybe for millions years the whole continent lay underwater. -I dont think Adolin has no development. I noticed that he tries to spent more time far from Shallan, Dalinar and Navani. He either work with other people, or spent his time feeding the horses. These are the subtle hints. Adolin is obviously afraid of staying close to those he keeps his secret from. I totally understand his behavious. Also while he has less screen time, he shockingly less time spent with Shallan in comparison to WoR. Its also understandable. He thinks the more time he spend with dear people keeping his secret away from them, the more he lies to them. -Sheeeeeeeet, that last line from Dalinar make me shivering. Thats one deadly line and this line was like a foreshadowing for Dalinar's death in the end of the book. Dont trust Taravangian, do you hear me, Dalinar?! Dont trust him!
  8. https://youtu.be/LckJTjGtz2M?t=1m20s Try to listen this reading the scene where Kaladin fly through the storm to fight Szeth in the WoR finale. Its short but damnation epic.
  9. -My god, this Kaladin chapter was an aboslutely badass. I love Sanderson didnt slow down the action and plot. Kaladin grew up since the first two books. Now he does what is right and does it with a class. I have a good imagination so the scene with him hovering above the ground holding the spear of light before the crowd in the rain has some serious God vibe. I share an awe with Hesina witnessing that moment. I also like Sanderson gave Kaladin a new, very good reason to fight - his newborn brother. I had some doubts before, but know im pretty sure - Kaladin wont turn out to be the Fallen Hero. He will fight for his brother till the very end. And i think the voice Syl mentioned in the chapter 5 was Oroden's voice, calling for her. I guess Oroden will become the Knight Radiant in the future. -As for Shallan. While she ment nothing romantic, the scene itself would be pretty romantic) -Adolin plot is probably the most interesting for me in Urithiru. What a turn of events. Someone copies his way of murdering Sadeas. I have a two questions: 1)Did the copycat saw Adolin killing Sadeas? 2)Who did that? I can see Renarin knowing about Adolin, since he is the Thruthwatcher, but im sure he is not a murderer. Come on, its Renarin, he wont kick a dog. I have two candidates - Ialai and Ghostbloods. Ghostbloods because they can use that knowledge to manipulate Shallan. Ialai because we heard nothing about her at all after Sadeas death. Its strange as hell! I guess there will be the case of "Pandora box" Adolin opened killing Sadeas. Ialai will bring Kholins pain, youll see. -And, finally, the Odium's champion. Im convinced Renarin saw what Dalinar didnt - Champion's face. He is the Truthwatcher (c). And i bet he looked at Dalinar asking himself did father see what Renarin saw? Who Renarin saw is another question. I bet on Kholin. Adolin, Dalinar or Renarin himself.
  10. In before Mara is a grown girl and future romantic interest of Kaladin, probably red herring.
  11. I guess the fate of Shshshs will be revealed in the last Dalinar's flashbacks. And it will be paralleled with present time heroic deeds of Dalinar. If to speculate, id say well see Dalinar doing horrible things to save Shshshs, while present day Dalinar will save Navani in a much more adult and epic way. Well, id speculate even further. That most likely won't happen but giving the direction Dalinar goes (The Beast without a control -> the Human in a full self-control), id say we will see him killing Shshshs in anger and blood drive (Thrill) during the fight against those who kidnapped her. Then in present, Dalinar tragically lets Navani die bounded by his oaths, suppressing his anger and inner beast, to save everyone else. That will be his sacrifice and burden but also will show him grown and matured.
  12. Im really excited by that Odium's Champion. The more exciting is the fact that Dalinar found something familiar in his eyes. That opens so much possibilities, one better (or worse) than another: -Gavilar or Amaram, who fell into the trap of blind good intentions; -Moash, led by his own understanding of the world order; -Dalinar himself, led by his good intentions and infinite tenacity to the Odium's camp; -Adolin, forsaken by his father and friends, torn by guilt, doubts and despair; -Kaladin, the fallen hero, disappointed by humankind and Herald's secret sins. Kaladin has the least chances to become Odium's champion imo, so ill try to look at potential conflict of the Hero (Kal) with his Nemesis. I find Kaladin and Dalinar conflict the most interesting if it will happen. Kaladin and Adolin is too cliched, Kaladin and Moash has already happened and will happen again, on a more private level, Kaladin and Amaram conflict was in fact decided in WoR, and Kaladin-Gavilar has nothing to share to become an interesting conflict. Yep, id look at Kaladin vs Dalinar global conflict.
  13. Id say Maggie Q with minimum cosmetics would make a pretty good Jasnah. Also look at some Indian actress. Some of them would also be a pretty good candidates for Jasnah role. Like this (too young but you got an idea):
  14. Right now its hard to predict how the realtioships between Kaladin, Adolin and Shallan will turn out. If i correctly analyze the WoR, Adolin seriously crushed, finding in Shallan something to live for due to the complex of her features: her intelligence, stormy yet calm personality and beauty. She is interesting and full of unexplored mysteries. Thats what attract him in opposite to usual "oh, prince, im all yours" Rosharian girls. Its a pretty good and common reason to love a girl. Shallan attracted to Adolin cause he is hot. Yes, Sanderson also mentioned she likes him for who he is - with kind heart, not very brilliant yet a nice guy, but he did it in such manner that it looks like absolutely last importan thing, while physical attraction is the main anchor for her attraction. During the reading of WoR i didnt get the feeling she really loves Adolin. Maybe its Sanderson's mistake but i lean towards intentional choice. In other words, Adolin and Shallan dont have something deeper and substantial for their love to be believable, mainly on Shallan's side. What about Kaladin? Sanderson didnt give any direct statements about Kaladin's love, just gave some bits that hint on him being hit by Shallan. Interestingly, the reasons are simiilar to Adolin's. Kaladin attracted to Shallan cause her intelligence, beauty and the fusion of her stormy and calm character. The only addition is that he has one more thing to care about her - its her really strong will. I mean that scene in chasms when "she smiles anyway". Thats what hit him the most. Her strong will. Thats the trait that made him admire her, respect her and want to protect her. Sanderson wasnt that kind describing Shallan's feelings towards Kaladin, yet he made her opinion about Kaladin look more relevant than her opinion about Adolin, closer to the end of the WoR. While Adolin's "kind heart and nice guy" looked like some nice yet not that important addition to his hot appearance, Kaladin's description sounded like something improtant to her, something to be excited about. In other words the base for Shallan's attraction towards Adolin is mainly physical attractiveness, while the base for attraction towards Kaladin is mainly personality and inner traits, though she also find him pretty attractive. What also matters is that Shallan and Kaladin in a couple day became closer to each other, than Adolin and Shallan managed to do in a weeks. I dont mean its the most improtant thing, and there were mainly circumstances that forced them to open to each other, not some "love", but right now, i think, Shallan and Kaladin ship went further than Shallan and Adolin's one. Maybe in OB Shadolin ship will cut the distance between them, who knows. Btw, i find Adolin's last action in WoR is positive for Shallan and Adolin ship, not negative. It will help with their relationships.
  15. Another theory connected to the previous is that the The Halls of Tranquility were inspired by Zelazny' Lord of Light concept. THoT is some kind of orbital station or space ship, the mothership of mankind before they came to Roshar. The beings lived there created Vorinism to manipulate the mankind of Roshar, and grant them the ability to return to THoT if they will earn it. Maybe that were the Heralds who did this. Heralds themselves were an advanced super humans that possessed the hi-tech gadgets, weapon and armor. Maybe they are not even a humans but the avatars of those who sits in The Halls, since they probably can't be killed permanently(?)
  16. Fun? Parshendi is a native race of Roshar and humans+Radiants+Herolds were advanced tech civilization came to Roshar via energy-fed spaceships a long time ago. Shardplates are magitek exo-suits powered by storm light. Honorblades are advanced magitek weapon. Humans were so technological advance that they could build a massive transportation gates that fed with energy, as well as material producers (fabrials), analogue of 3d printers but far more advanced. What is the basis of this theory? The idea that humans dont look like species that belong to Rosharian eco-system, while Parshendi does. Parshendi were like native people of American continent, while humans were like European colonizers.
  17. Everytime i imagine Kaladin i draw the picture of the men with arabian appearance, like this one: Also there is Daniel DiTomasso: Also, Anson Mount. He would make a good Dalinar or Amaram.
  18. There is the scene from TWoK that made me scared as hell. The scene where Shallan drew the Cryptics that surrounded her in the room. It was a really creepy scene.
  19. Kaladin x Shallan camp added one more guy, me. They look very sexy together. They have such a good banter potential and chemistry. They almost look too good to really become a final couple in the end. Im pretty sure right now they share nothing more than animal appetence, but i hope with the flow of time they will build more on it. They already have started, when Kaladin realized how beautifully strong inside Shallan is.
  20. One of the charming little details i picked up reading the chasm scene is this: Shallan drew Kaladin while he was asleep, since there was no mention of her drawing his portrait while they were sitting or walking (obviously). Thats pretty cute and accurate detail. Oh, and that she dropped both her own and Kaladin's portraits, not just Kaladin's only or Kaladin's and portrait of some random girl/guy/creature/plant.
  21. I have a feeling that Radiants and Shardplates are somehow related to each other on the biological/structural level. Shardplates are working when they are filled with the Stormlight. As well as Radiants are only capable to do some superhuman stuff when they are filled with the Stormlight. Stormlight gives both Shardplates and Radiants an abilities to be solid as steel and an enhanced strength, agility and speed. Both Radiants and Shardplates working mechanisms designed similar to each other. Sometimes i think that Radiants are ascended Sprens, while Shardplates are dead Sprens. Sometimes i think that Shardplates are partly living tool, designing with addition of Radiant's DNA or "miracle power". Sometimes i even think that Shardplates are first Knight Radiants remains, crystallized in a form of the armor or probably melted with dead Radiant's spren. p.s.
