This is what I remember from my questions at the signing. Really can't wait to get the exact words, since I got some great answers.

Aww, thanks! OK, here is the gist of it. Harmonium's instability IS caused by some of the subatomic particles being of Ruin and some of Preservation. Harmonium is NOT an alloy, but rather a complete metal. Its particles are NOT composed of investiture, but have a "spiritual identity" that associates them with one of the shards. A portion of the energy that comprises the explosion when harmonium touches water is energy being pulled directly from the spiritual realm and the particles thus losing their spiritual association with one of the shards. Due to this, there is no such thing as Harmonium Oxide, although he did add a cryptic comment that there is "something else" left behind after the explosion which is "interesting" and will be important to Scadrial's future. At this point I figured I couldn't hold up the line much longer and started fishing for a RAFO card. So I asked about Harmonium's nuclear potential. But get this: He didn't RAFO it!! He said that harmonium can't actually create a nuclear explosion but it does something similar which will be "very important" to the cosmere in the future. He explained that this is because he essentially added a third state of matter, since investiture is analogous to energy and matter where one can be transformed into the others through the right processes. So harmonium can create an effect that is somehow similar to a nuclear explosion but instead of transforming matter into energy, it does something with investiture. He didn't elaborate after that. As soon as we get the recording transcript done we can analyze his exact words, but this is what I remember for now. Please ask for any clarifications since I'll probably remember in better detail if a specific question is asked.

Can't write details now but I can't wait to say this: This theory is officially confirmed!

Great cosmere tidbits from the Rithmatist discussion, as well as some insight into the nature of the Shadowblazes (finally confirmed the name too) and charcoal creatures. I should have time to upload my copy (with video!) on Monday, and I'll get a recording of the signing tomorrow as well. Great to meet you in person too! If anyone wants to find me tomorrow, I'll be in a grey suit with a bright green tie.

@ccstat and I got separate recordings. I'll upload mine asap (which is code for Monday)

Question: What qualities would attract an inkspren? Answer: Inkspren don't like how variable humans are, it's a thing out of Honor, so a person who is willing to think about their life rather than reacting by instinct would work for them. The scholar is the perfect example but for instance a soldier who is very thoughtful and doesn't just rush into battle would work for them too.

Vin: I'm not a good person or a bad person. I'm just here to kill things.

Looks like I'll end up missing all of Friday thanks to my engineering computation class, but I'll be there bright and early on Saturday and Sunday morning!

One great way to contribute is to find a question nobody has asked before, and ask it! There's a thread full of them here. I'm planning to ask about a theory @Pagerunner came up with regarding Ettmetal, and if I have time @ccstat lent me some other Scadrial-related questions.

Once they develop surgical techniques advanced enough to safely implant metal into human bodies (I'm thinking like the titanium pins and screws used in restorative surgery), it'll become impossible to tell if someone has a metalmind/hemalurgic spike. If they can pay for the operation, that is.

@Belzedar TBH it rubs me wrong to remove the balls like that. I see this as more of Vin's story with a backdrop of the heist, and less of the heist which happens to involve Vin. Her struggle to reconcile her new roles as allomancer and noblewoman with her old one as a thief gives the story human appeal, and the intermixture of allomantic training with spying on nobles at their parties paints that struggle perfectly. If anything, I'm in favor of the "training montage" being replaced with a "training and partying montage" that shows how playing both roles affects her. It could also highlight the differences between the two: a scene of her in a yellow dress on a brightly lit dance floor with a handsome young nobleman, followed by a scene of her in an ash-covered mistcloak on a shadowy rooftop with scar-covered Kelsier. A scene of her ingratiating herself with a new social circle followed by a scene of her kicking Ham's butt in a spar. And best of all, of course, the emotional fall out with Elend followed immediately by Vin cutting down his fiance in a brutal duel... The juxtaposition is just beautiful in my head. If I had to choose which subplot to cut out, I'd pick the skaa rebellion. Not that it isn't important, but it's tough to translate to film because it ends up being mostly political. Same reason George Lucas had trouble with the Star Wars prequel trilogy and decided to go with the original trilogy first.

@PagerunnerThis is a convention that incorporates 2 signings. So I think I should have ample opportunities to pick his brain over the course of the three days.

I was a swimmer in high school, and I always wished I was a gasper (cadmium ferring). A quirk of swimming technique is that breathing slows you down, so for sprinting races we sometimes hyperventilate to oxygenate our blood and reduce the need to breath. Now if I could use cadmium for that instead, I'd drop some serious time.

Mistborn TFE actually already has a project team working on it. Someone over at Dragonmount posted the following links: http://thewertzone.blogspot.co.uk/2016/10/brandon-sandersons-cosmere-universe.html http://thewertzone.blogspot.co.uk/2017/01/mistborn-movie-gets-writer.html I for one am excited. Having some of the same people who worked on the Marvel universe doing the Cosmere sounds like a dream come true.

Most of this went over my head, but are you suggesting that there's a "Ruin" electron field and a "Preservation" electron field, and that the particles we're discussing are excitations of those separate fields?
-
Sure, I'm still good to ask. I brought my copies of the Mistborn era 1 trilogy from home, so it'll be a perfect time to ask some Scadrial-themed questions. And yes, I'd love help with phrasing. This'll be my first signing, so I don't know what to expect at all. So if you could help me work out how best to phrase the question, I'll print it out and slip it into one of the books I'm bringing.

Now spike them with the ability to use Duralumin and you get Restaurant at the End of the Universe status.

Any idea how we're going to record question and answer sessions and questions asked at the signings? I don't think my phone will cut it...
-
This. Actually sometimes I use that as a selling point when explaining the Cosmere to my friends. The nerdier ones, of course, since they'll think having six or seven series of 1-10 (eventually) books all being interconnected is a good thing.
-
Still waiting on a schedule... They haven't updated the website yet.

That explains why I couldn't find it--they didn't translate the title literally. Thanks!

Make yourself an oathstone and grab an honorblade. You'll never be unemployed again. Problem: School starts next week. -
I opened my .docx in Adobe Reader on my phone, which is free and acts as if it were a pdf. Just another idea if you can't find a decent converter.

Just finished my first read through. I also thought Eric was Hoid for a while. But after I figured out he wasn't I couldn't find him anywhere. This is frustrating!

I usually don't make stuff from scratch; rather I break stuff and then fix it into something else. My current project is rebinding my copies of the original Mistborn series as hardcovers. Most of my other stuff is woodburned, although I also do a little cheap jewelery making. I made a soulcaster once by taking apart some costume jewelry and reconstructing it.
