  1. My feelings about Sadeas roughly parallel my feelings about Dolores Umbridge. If you know what I mean.
  2. Oh, well. I guess that puts paid to my convoluted theory of common descent from Yolish languages.
  3. Wait... Ati means hope? So the shard Ruin was held by a guy named Hope? Wat.
  4. Ironically enough, I just woke up from a dream in which I was an electrum misting and using it to great effect. Weird.
  5. Lol everybody hates Sadeas so much they won't vote for him
  6. Heal Iron, hurt Atium 3. Iron--104. Steel--176. Bronze--415. Cadmium--1016. Bendalloy--1817. Atium--2618. Lerasium--10
  7. Yeah what he said. You can trust me, I'm the best Inquisitor there ever was. Also, welcome to our wonderful world of crazy theories! I hope you enjoy it here.
  8. I didn't get it until I saw somebody quoting a joke Brandon made about it here on 17th Shard. So no, you're definitely not the only one who had to be clued in.
  9. I'm all down for a living SprenBlade without having Plate, like where most of our proto-Radiants are at this point. I've dulled down enough of my favorite pocket knives in my life to seriously appreciate one that cuts literally anything, changes shape to suit your needs, and never gets dull.
  10. Perhaps Utah people are more confident in being able to see Brandon often, so they're bolder with their questions. Cause if they get RAFOed it's just a matter of waiting till next time he does an event. Those of us in the East see him less often, so we're more cautious about asking questions we're sure he'll answer. At least that's my thought process with regard to his trip to Boston next year. I'm trying to come up with questions I think won't be RAFOed cause this may be the only chance I get to attend a signing for a long time.
  11. Has anyone here attended Boskone before? They haven't released the schedule yet but it'd be nice to at least be able to guess whether Brandon is coming for the whole weekend or just one day. After all if he's only coming the the free bit on Friday then there's no reason to buy a pass for the whole weekend. Can anyone confirm this?
  12. Wassup Geoff! I'm Marsh. Hopefully you're far enough into Mistborn to get that reference. If you're looking for the next Brandon book to read, definitely pop over to his website and download Warbreaker for free. It's the only cosmere book he's released free of charge. And of course finish the mistborn trilogy. It's still my favorite, after all this time.
  13. If someone doesn't beat me to the punch, I'll try to explore this topic more when I see Brandon in February. I'd like to confirm this theory about Ettmetal containing slightly more ruin than preservation, and ask about the repulsion between protons and neutrons. He'd probably RAFO this but it's even worth asking if the metal has nuclear weapon potential.
  14. Willing to second this. I've read the whole thing and my only complaint is that I lost track of some of the characters due to the incredible complexity of the series. Oh, and book 9 drags. I didn't like it until the end. These may be a bit light compared to Cosmere books, but the Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud is highly entertaining. It's an engaging story with an overly generous helping of humor. I'd read it just for the hilarious subtext notes.
  15. I never dreamed that AP chemistry would serve me in a place like this. MEGA high five for asking a question like that! And upvotes. I think you're spot on with the assumption that Lerasium would be like Cobalt and Atium like Nickel. It fits the physical description, at least for Atium. I can't recall the physical properties of Cobalt at the moment.
  16. Yeah I'm pretty sure there's a really recent WoB that they're God-metal-esque. So maybe it'd turn the mistborn into a surgebinder!
  17. My old 8th grade english teacher (who has taught three of my siblings so far, so we have an excellent relationship) was looking for a dystopian novel to study in her class. She wanted to read Hunger Games, but my mom had a huge problem with the amount of violence in that book. So she tried to get her to read Mistborn instead. My old teacher didn't go for it . But hey, we tried. Good thing you succeeded on this one! On that note, you know you're a Sanderfan when you've got your mom and no less than five siblings reading the guy's books, not to mention an uncle or two (JK the uncle was the one who introduced me in the first place).
  18. Heal Iron, kill Pewter 1. Tin--5 2. Pewter--0 3. Iron--9 4. Steel--16 6. Bronze--6 12. Nicrosil--2 15. Cadmium--9 16. Bendalloy--16 17. Atium--22 18. Lerasium--10
  19. You may not know this, but secret Steel Ministry texts inform us that autocorrect is actually a deadly weapon, first used by Rashek to kill Alendi. It then went on to kill several thousand more people during the Lord Ruler's unification campaign before he finally locked it away in the Cognitive realm for safekeeping. As far as we know, it's still there. Waiting. Watching.
  20. Hey, it's not my fault you're allergic to my spiked cookies. I mean spiked with, uh, uh, extra cinnamon. Not hemalurgic spikes that will steal your Surgebinding abilities. Not at all.
  21. I see you've posted a couple theories already! Very nice. That's how I ended up on the Shard too, although I've been inactive for a long time. Welcome! By the way, if you're interested in the prose version of White Sands, I heard a rumor that you can get it by emailing Brandon and asking nicely. I just did so myself so I can hopefully confirm or deny that rumor in a few days. >.> are you talking about me?
  22. Oh that makes sense. No worries then. Well that's true, and I agree. I'm of the opinion that this apparent judgement thing of the Skybreakers and the apparent lie detecting of the Truthwatchers are both resonances.
  23. Lol no, it'd drain your investiture REALLY quickly if Nightblood is anything to judge by. Better to stick with a sword. Unless you've got an overabundance of spare investiture.
  24. What...? This site is doing weird things... that post was originally put up six hours ago. What's it doing reappearing now?
