[Weltal quote that my iPad ate] We know for example that there are reactions in allomancy where energy that should be present goes 'somewhere' and it's going to play a role in future books. [/quote] The question to me is whether the amount of power “requested” by the end-result magic takes this into account. If it doesn’t, and the magic finds itself a little short on energy, then it would make perfect sense that it would draw on the nearest available source, which is nearly always heat. It’s just like an endothermic chemical reaction. Exactly where the energy goes missing matters, since the later it happens, the more plausible my explanation.

Most of the time. I’m an optimistic sort of guy

Well for the last 8 years or so I’ve been trolling the Shard and Dragonmount

Just devoured the novella. Geez, does Brandon knows his color philosophy or what! Davriel is so quintessentially black, and Tacenda and the Bog nail green. Also he writes like a boss.

What he's done is have an arc that parallels Kaladin's, but taking the opposite choice from Kal at major turning points. In order of importance: Both have a particular lighteyes they hate, and teeter on the edge of being destroyed by the grudge. Kaladin learns to fight the corrupting influence of that hate, where Moash feeds it. Both kill the lighteyes in question, but Kal does so in defense of Dalinar, fulfilling his oaths as a windrunner. His personal beef with Amaram is no longer his motivation. Moash kills the king in a dishonorable way, and solely for his personal gratification. Both are offered two different shardblades. Kaladin rejects both Blades he is offered, where Moash doesn't hesitate to take either Blade. Both become a lighteyes through various means. Moash allows this to separate him from Bridge 4, where Kaladin remains connected with his friends. Both have serious doubts about their position as Elhokar's guards in WoR. Moash abuses his position to aid the assassination attempt, while Kaladin ultimately honors his by saving the king's life. The two respect each other greatly, even after clashing so many times. Each has a powerful mentor who is intimately connected to one of the Shards: Dalinar (Honor) for Kal, the Fused (Odium) for Moash. Each trains a group of outcasts in the spear: Bridge 4 for Kaladin, the group of parshmen for Moash. Due to Moash now having Jezrien's Honorblade, both of them have access to the same Surges at the present time. Moash is the Vader to Kaladin's Luke, the dark reflection whose narrative purpose is to show what he could have been. The most hearbreaking (and totally Brandon-ish IMO) conclusion to their arc that I can think of is for Moash to become Odium's champion and for Kaladin, as Honor's champion, to be forced to kill his former friend. EDIT: Lolme for basically rehashing a conversation that was already happening in the thread. If I would finish reading before responding to somebody, this stuff wouldn't happen

Definitely isn't me. The only other forum I'm on is Dragonmount (Wheel of Time forum). Which Ley knows already. Hi Ley!

As soon as my group project is turned in, I'll print it. And I'll take photos to post too

Funny, I'm sitting about twenty feet away from three 3D printers right now at my university's engineering workshop. I'd love to have one of these symbols for my wall!

Ten anecdotes told by ancient KRs (one from each order obviously) about their adventures. Special emphasis on what each order was like, what the personalities of the Knights were like, and how they tended to use their Surges

[OB] Questions I have about Vasher and Wit
Ironeyes replied to charlietk421's topic in Stormlight Archive
1) Rayse, which is the name of Odium's vessel. He and Hoid (Wit) know each other personally and Rayse has a serious grudge. 2) Yes, they are the same person. If I remember correctly, Vasher came to Roshar in search of an easier source of investiture to feed on for survival -
Welcome to the Shard! I think you are correct.

[OB] Characters that surprised you in OB
Ironeyes replied to mariapapadia's topic in Stormlight Archive
Elhokar grew on me considerably over the course of book 2, and I was heavily invested in his arc in this book. When I read his death scene, well, I'm pretty sure my roommates thought I was dying after the sound I made. Venli takes the runner up spot. I'm psyched to see where she goes in future books -

I was checking out the new WoB database when I found the following: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/123-sofia-signing/#e3299 "Questioner If you were entrusted with a Shard of Adonalsium, which Shard? Brandon Sanderson Ahhhm...heh heh heh...maybe Ingenuity. " My first reaction was, "Dang, Brandon just accidentally let slip another Shard name!" Then my second reaction was, "No, he probably made that up to troll us." So which is it?

Just give me Allomantic steel. I'll take or leave the rest.

I'm attending a Modern Grand Prix in February, so I had to build a Modern deck. Storm ended up being my archetype of choice, so I just had to pimp it out with a Stormlight Archive theme! So far I've made a deck box, three different goblin tokens (for Empty the Warrens), and mana/storm counters featuring the covers of the three books. None of the tokens or counters are printed yet, so hit me up with some suggestions on how to improve them. And go ahead and vote for which goblin token is the best!

From the album: Highstorm MTG Deck
Dustbringers and Skybreakers felt like a perfect flavor fit for the deck. -

The cover of Oathbringer keeps track of my floating red mana. After finishing this I considered making tokens for the other three colors using the WoR art of Shallan (white) and a sweet fan art I saw of the chasms (green or black), but that's a project for another day.
