  1. I really like Kaladin's lesson dealing with Elhokar, and that sometimes you have to protect people you don't like because it's simply the right thing to do. (Though not simply done.) There's that lesson from The Emperor's Soul, where sometimes knowing a person is knowing the little things, and not the big achievements or faults. It not just about what, but also about why.
  2. Hm, I don't have a big magical weapon, but one of the weapons in my story concept was like a wooden staff, with a lead core and thick/short steel hooks at the ends facing opposite directions. Called it a brasten, but it's a working title.
  3. "You up for that Aang? Some Earthbending rumble-city?"
  4. One of the things that I'm not a fan of in ANW is that they sometimes give a huge amount of coverage for a contestant, and then they don't make it even past the third obstacle. I guess it's hard to predict who will make it and who won't, but it was kind of depressing to see the JAG woman with the backyard obstacle course fail on the Rail Runner, same place she failed the last time. (Rail Runner wasn't the third obstacle though.)
  5. Nice! What medium did you use? Or is it digital?
  6. Oathbringer 1-3 chapter
  7. "Trying to get out of the swamp and search for power-hungry people who need to meet the Melon Lord. And the Avatar," Toph replied. "Seen anyone around like that?"
  8. It came as a wave, a rush; the fear that clouded the skies, that seeped into my skin. I scarce could feel the hands grasping at my limbs.
  9. *gasp* Was he the one that did Twinborn? Because I love that one! This one is just as good! It kind of reminds me of Avatar the Last Airbender music. He definitely has my support.
  10. Probably the debate with Jasnah. Religion is one of those things that can easily go either way, and I feel like I could defend my beliefs. Would you rather cook like Rock or spar like Sarene?
  11. Good luck! You can do it! I would say I feel but I don't think my classes will be anywhere near as hard. Your halfway there at least! I'm having some problems of my own. My oldest sister recently contacted the family and told us she and her husband are separating. They haven't mentioned the word divorce yet, but we feel as if it's coming close. My mom and other sister are heartbroken and angry and I listened to them spout out their anger against the oldest sister the other day. I'm not as emotional about this situation as the rest and my mom tells me that it is because I can't comprehend it, I'm too young. But I fell like I do/can and what hurts me is not the separation but that my other family has to be so mean. They seem to think that my oldest sister is not being smart, is going to go off the deep end, leave her kids, being selfish, etc. I feel like they don't seem to think what she might be going through. Family is so important to me and I hate it when they go off at each other; I even hate it when I argue. I feel like they are always going to create this tension between each other and neither side will want to be the first to open up.
  12. @Taravangian'sDayOff I love how those all turned out! It kind of sounds like slam poetry. Staring me down is a silence. It's the horror that came from the things I've done; the caution at the things I will do; the helplessness at the things my hands carry out today. Inspired by Rothfuss's silence of three parts. Frankly, that whole series is so full of power sentences. And I love it!
  13. I am the beat you danced life through, but she will only hear the song you sang.
  14. Deep in the chasms where all the vines hang A creature is prowling, intent on its game With mandibles snapping The men ahead laughing This beast, this band could tame
  15. @Kered That first one is so good! That's a pretty cool professor by the way. I need to practice. "Go ahead. Walk. You'll never get there. The world you dream of may be limitless and without boundaries; yet you will never know where you are, where you can stop; no victory for your struggles."
  16. All of these plus Riptide/Anaklusmos.
  17. Ay, please don't hate, but probably a life without. Reason being because books do need a recharging period after bingeing them, I would miss the other series too, like Harry Potter, Inheritance Cycle, Percy Jackson, and other non-series books that I really enjoy. Would you rather be on the Dayside of Taldain without being able to slatrify or a one-armed Herdazian (not a Radiant)?
  18. "I wanted to be a surgeon," he said Then over his hands she bled He forsook the needle For a spear he did wheedle Still to save, an army he lead
  19. High level Forger all the way. I love the concept in The Emperor's Soul, or rewriting a past and really having to know an object/person. Would rather be in the chasms without Stormlight/Radiant powers, or the Forests of Hell without silver?
  20. Does anyone out here watch this TV show? Or Spartan? Would love to follow this year's season with some people.
  21. @Ammanas Totally agree. There's also the idea that we believe in worlds without number. It doesn't just pertain to outer space kind of worlds and that whole thing, but also that there might be worlds intersecting our own, sharing the same space but not knowing the other exists. I just thought of another parallel, but this has to with the Stormlight Archive. Kaladin, is a surgeon, and one the Ideals he spoke was that he would protect even those he hated, so long as it was right. Multiple times in the Bible, there is a phrase where Christ compares himself to a physician, and said "They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance" (Mark 2:17), meaning that He came to protect all, not "special" individuals who had gained his favor. Whether or not this is a true parallel, I love how Sanderson voices how being kind in general is such an important thing.
  22. This is so beautiful! This is going with my Studio Ghibli soundtrack.
  23. For that Oathbringer prologue
