  1. I say Dalinar and Dalinar. The story needs a Voltron power to take down the champion and a triple bondsmith might be up to the task. I don't think Mr. T would be a good choice because the story would become too similar to what Cultivation did with Dalinar already. However, I do feel like someone who went to the Nightwatcher already seems like the best fit for bonding her. As for the Sibling, I guess if it can't be Dalinar, I would really love to see Raoden enter the story and bond or be the Sibling.
  2. If youve seen the movie 'Split' it operates the same way with clothing essentially.
  3. I agree with BigMikey that the Sibling is the stone spren in some manner. The biggest holes we have in the story are Urithiru's origin, the Shin's god, the Shattered Plains', Amia's destruction and along with these, the Sibling itself.
  4. While I agree that the names are rather simple, it does kind of make sense. She has so much complexity in her psyche and emotions that having something easy to latch on to is probably a relief. Also, naming her personalities by what distinguishes them is easy schytzo organization. But more likely, it is a simple tool for the reader to keep track of.
  5. Storms/Stormfather is the Vorin mythology. Spren/Nightwatcher is the Old Magic mythology. Stone/Sibling is the Shin mythology we know too little about. It seems too convenient to think what we know so far is 100% accurate. Brandon loves to lie to us in his stories. So crazy theories may be more plausible than reasonable theories at this point. 1. What if the Sibling is in fact Odium's spren? Maybe Odium used it as a spy and somehow during the last desolation the KR finally realized it and had to put it down or capture and hide it. Perhaps the shattered plains was the setting for this event. What if the Shin are actually ignorantly aiding Odium by 'securing' the honorblades from being used against him. 2. Craziest theory of them all, what if the Stormfather is Odium's spren and the Sibling is actually Honor's spren? The Stormfather helped bring about the Everstorm and is the one who is giving visions to encourage using a champion which Odium seems mock alarmed about but actually pleased about during his confrontation with Dalinar. The highstorms are a very divisive world mechanic and the Broken One fits with my personal name for Odium: Segregation. The Sibling is gone just as Honor himself is gone and the Shin people seem to be the most honor-bound human cultures on Roshar. The Sibling is seemingly at the center of business in Urithiru, basically KR HQ. Stone is the best Rosharan fit with Honor as nothing natural is as reliable and sturdy as stone. I have a feeling something is wrong with the religions as we know them on Roshar.
  6. I'd be interested in hearing what you think the possible primal equivalent to passion/emotion is. As it is, this post has me wanting to reevaluate/rename the known shards. Thanks.
  7. I also thought it odd that the Heralds don't all share the same appearances. I'm still closet theorizing that the Heralds are the Rosharan human equivalent to Adam and Eve from that one Earth book.
  8. The questioner only asked if there were spren in Scadrial's Shadesmar. They did not specify alive or dead so maybe it's as simple as people with dead blades are there ie. Ghostblood or 17th Shard members who have acquired them.
  9. I was imagining Dalinar going to Sel and using his pillar of awesomeness to merge the cognitive with the physical and binding the splinters together and picking the whole shards up.
  10. I could see Cultivation 'cultivating' the honor shard into the new Adonalsium through Dalinar as the first step. But I don't see cultiation+honor alone being Unity like preservation and ruin equalling Harmony. I do like the possibility of the break between the front 5 and back 5 of SA being Dalinar binding devotion and dominion to himself to tip the power against Odium.
  11. All good points. Perhaps this book was really SA book 3 part 1 and the next one will be spectacular. Then the 5th being the finale leading into an intermission will be more like Brandon's typical books again. I too have faith in Brandon even though I was one of the disappointed readers. He will certainly make a great series when it's all finished.
  12. It could also be something his mother told him and not connected to the Rosharan mythos at all. I like the theory of it being something more, but I always felt like Brandon didn't have Adolin as a big player in his Cosmeric outline.
  13. When I read OB I was pretty disappointed. It felt like the most Hollywood-esque of Brandon's works. Every other book of his has felt organic and naturally intriguing throughout. This one felt very formulaic and missing the soul of his other works. But, this forum has helped keep things interesting with the continued predictions and discourse. P.S. I watched The Last Jedi shortly after finishing OB and that movie also helped make me like OB better due to TLJ being a much bigger disappointment
  14. So, we discovered in Oathbringer that Kaladin has to be within a certain range of his squires for then to access surges. But the cute story of when The Lopen begins to regrow his invisible arm happens while Kaladin is located elsewhere. My question: is this a mistake or some kind of delayed loss of surge access? Can squires have a capacitor-like storage of investiture/surge-ability to delay the effect caused by the absence of their raidiant?
  15. I tend to agree that it is odd for noone to bring up or ask why Adolin is not a Radiant. My conclusion is that Brandon has too much out-of-character knowledge and slipped up. Maya will bond to him so he has tabled Adolin as a future Radiant. My reasons for this belief are: The evidence for expectation is there. The Kholin family being at the epicenter of many spren bonds. Bridge 4 acquiring many squires as well as full Radiants relatvely speaking. And the OOC knowledge is that spren don't want to interfere with the resurrection of one of their number. This could all have been looked past if a PoV character thought it internally or any simple interaction with Adolin asking,"Hey, are you sure nothing weird has been going on with you that might mean you will become one of us?" I'm fine with it as is, but I hope I'm on the right track.
  16. I wouldn't think his oath-truths would be related to the ones he openly admitted to characters. There must have been something less apparent that he was avoiding and blocking out. Unfortunately, we will probably never get more about it for obvious reasons.
  17. Didn't Kaladin use adhesion to stick to Szeth when they fell from the palace? At least that is the impression I got. If true, it sure seems that adhesion works on skin. Also, a raidant climbing spidey style would be pretty quick because of the athletic boost the bond/stormlight bestows.
  18. I agree with your parentheitcal the most. If Syl was as much of a bummer as Kaladin his story would have been impossible for me to read. However, I do think there is a possible connection with each type of highspren gravitating toward or against their counterparts though. Perhaps some like to have a 'fixer-upper' as seems to be the case with Wyndle, Syl, and Pattern. Alternatively, I would have a hard time imagining Ivory or Nale's spren working well with opposing natured Knights.
  19. First, I have seen quite a few theories get outright destroyed by conjecture instead of fact which is what truly upsets me. Beyond that, I just don't think it's necessary to keep at it ince the facts have been laid out. I am not calling any individual out here; it's just a caution/concern of mine. However, you have just tried to prove thise DR by means of taking what fits your argument and removing what does not. When have we seen Shallash 'sit' while scratching her eyes out, hrmm?
  20. While I agree with Shallash being Ash, I have a problem with blatantly refusing anyone's theory regardless of evidence. Brandon himself changes details in books he reads so that they are more enjoyable to him. There is a WoB where he mentions some character having a mustache and his buddy denying it in 'his' depiction of the character and completely supports interpreting the book the way the reader wishes. So yes, offer up counter arguments so people who don't know can make more informed opinions of their reception of the story. But don't argue to the point of attempting to persuade them to see it your way. Let creativity and enjoyment flow.
  21. I think there was an oversight in not explaining Rlains absence. However, it seems like an obvious outlined intention. We and Brandon know the danger of Rlain being present fighting against Odium's forces: he could be easily posessed by a Fused. In-world it can be realistically presumed that the coalition would be wary of friendlies attacking him accidentally. Also, we know from the previous two books that the parshmen were left out of battles in order to prevent inciting them to fight for their people. I personally believe Rlain will be a story casualty. There is already too many things going the way of the good guys. I'm also certain that Kaladin is going to continue to have betrayal and hard lessons in his future and Rlain plays well into this. Brandon seemingly forgetting about Rlain or at least reducing his importance tells me not to invest in him going foward.
  22. Perhaps only the Windrunners decided to leave shardplate and blades for future generations for PROTECTION. So maybe the real number of spren corpses is in the hundreds as opposed to thousands. And I can realistically conceive of a hundred or so going missing through loss or being stashed away.
  23. Unfortunately, I don't believe you can have an absolute bad/good guy in a Sanderson story. At least not in his Cosmere works. The Heralds aren't THE good guys. The Listeners aren't THE bad guys. We can't say the KR, Lighteyes, Tanavast, Hoid, main plot protagonists etc. were THE good guys. And we can't say Odium, Taravangian, the Ghostbloods, Shallan's father etc. were THE bad guys. At least I can't. I refuse to pigeon-hole myself while TLRs, flawed heroes, and good intending shard-holders gone corrupt can still surprise me.
  24. Or... what if it is mimicking Kaladin's childhood lovestory? Perhaps Shallan does love Adolin but something KR related drives her to marry another KR? And since she likes Kaladin and it would hypothetically be beneficial to the KR she chooses/is forced to marry him. As for the one that will 'destroy us', my money is on Dalinar. Szeth would be to simple; Kaladin would devistate everyone; Shallan is a possibility due to her instability and being prone to manipulation. But Dalinar makes the most sense for me for the following: He was already a berserking monstrosity. He is getting blocked diplomatically which will lead to desperation and frustration. Taravangian is in his life for a reason. And he may lose Navani all over again causing him to lose his mind. No matter who it is, I'm certain it will be both shocking and deliciously satisfying.
  25. Anyone else feel like Shallan's experience with Re-Shepnir will lead to it or another unmade doing the same thing with Alethi blade stances? I have been wondering if all the stances were just world building or non-magical systems to add depth to the story. However, it appears the unmade/voidspren are awakening much like KR and their spren have been. Maybe there will be numerous melees where the KR have the advantage in the beginning, but begin to lose any edge as the enemy learns and adapts. Well, that's my prediction. Thoughts?
