sh spoilers Khriss's **sh spoiler** is from Sel
AeonaRin replied to Farnsworth's topic in Cosmere Discussion
What others said. Also IRE are not from the third continent, they are Elantrians. And they are old, definitely pre-reod old, probably many years pre-reod. Btw, Brandon said that Sel is pretty advanced at this point. -
Cognitive Realm map and Silverlight location speculation
AeonaRin replied to AeonaRin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
is that a fact ofr a guess? I thought the pipeline would be pretty hermetic, because it would be stupid to just let the Dor out everywhere. A giant aluminium pipe was in my mind, but maybe I let myself go xD If you're right, then the pipeline would have to go around Nalthis, and the end of it, near Scadrial, it would end up more to the west than what I've drawn, so it is possible I think.- 3 replies

Impossible. Shardblade is essentially a splinter and it is hard to take of a planet it is connected to. The had to know a way to do it, so there is no way they would just mistake a Shardblade for a ordinary knife.

Hello. In this thread I posted my proposition of cosmere CR map along with speculation where Silverlight might be, but the thread is a bit old and not a busy one, so I decided to post a new topic, to induce a brainstorm. So. Just quickly: The map was created by rotating the star map by 90 degrees. Rosharan shadesmar expanses theories seemed to be fitting with it. The idea of Ashyn and Braize access via nexuses comes from the fact that in cognitive they would be very close to Roshar, much closer than planets dozen systems away, like Scadrial, that can be reached by the Expanse of the Vapors. The distances are of course irrelevant, as they get condensed in the cognitive. I just drawn over the star map. The star map is an artistic vision, so the directions are not perfect either. Cardinal Directions Because they exist in minds of sentient life forms, I believe they exist in the Cognitive realm. Also, Nazh tells Kelsier to go west to find IRE. Another thing is the order of planets in the planetary system. I don't think they would move around much, so I organized them the way the planet closest to the sun would be closer to north in cognitive. I am not too attached to this idea though. Btw, I think the Southern Scadrial is also south on this map. Pathways I've drawn potential pathways. Note that there is no direct pathway from Roshar to First of the Sun - I think it goes through Braize, just like a path from Sel to First of the Sun goes through Nalthis. I was also thinking if Expanse of the Broken Sky might in fact lead to Threnody, while Taldain could be accessed via Ashyn, but I concluded that there is no reason to complicate the matter, because we lack information anyway. I guess the only way to not get a RAFO on that would be to show this to Brandon and hope he is impressed enough to clarify Dor pipeline So IRE has a pipeline through the cognitive realm that transports Dor. And their fortress was to the west from Scadrial. I just drawn the straight line from it to Sel. I know the fortress isn't exactly to the west, with Sel being north-west from Scadrial, but neither my nor the original star map are super accurate, so we should probably not fixate on this too much. Silverlight Now this is just a wild speculation. > The star map is a visualization as imagined from Silverlight, not an effect of space exploration > Silverlight is solely in the cognitive realm > Cognitive realm is entirely flat > Therefore there is no way Silverlight is in a plane that allows this view. I think the star map was made by someone who simply traveled the Sardworlds and mapped them in the Cognitive realm. Silverlight is supposed to be a meeting point. Therefore I think it should be somewhere between the major Shardworlds. I've drawn a few ideas: a: Between Sel, Taldain and Roshar - that would be between the three most cosmere-aware/realmatically-aware planets (excluding Yolen). b: All roads lead to Rome Scadrial, so I thought Silverlight would have a convenient path to Scadrial as well. And Taldain, except for Yolen, is the first Shardworld with cosmere-aware people. I find this one to least likely though. c: My favourite. Not only would that put Silverlight in the most densely populated area, but also on the way of IRE's Dor pipeline, which, I believe, would be quite convenient for Sel-descendant people. d: Silverlight would be in proximity of Yolen. Many people believe The Scar is the location of Yolen. If it is, Silverlight would be between The Scar and the rest of the Shardworlds. I'm interested to hear what do you think and what ideas about Silverlight you have may contradict my map

If we all agree that 1000 breaths is not enough to make a sentient blade, why do you think it is enough to manipulate already heavily invested object? We've been told time and time again that difficulty of affecting and invested object is proportional to the amount of investiture it holds. No way 1000 breaths would be enough to affect a shardblade.

Damnation. I just thought of this exact theory, and someone have already done it. I made a map and everything. Eh. Let me quote Wit then. Bonus: I mapped the entire thing. The distances are of course irrelevant, as they get condensed in the cognitive. I just drawn over the star map. The star map is an artistic vision, so the directions are not perfect either anyway. Poland - Warsaw and Krakow events 18/21 March

I just got one in a t-shirt printing house thing. The graphic was from /sanderson memes thread. -
Yeah, definitely, dye replaces pigment in your hair with artificial one (well, sort of, that's the general idea) while toner just sticks pigment to keratin cuticle of a hair.
-
Purple faded faster. It was pink after one wash. Blue stayed longer and it was staying blue - only lighter shades of blue. But that was with toner, I'm not sure how would that be with a proper dye.
-
Permanent = with developer, not just a cream colour. But even permanent dyes of unnatutal colour fade :c blue lasts more or less as long as red (not copper), so after a month or so it won't be vibrant anymore, the colour will wash out a little. But trust me, it's still better than toner, toner only lasts 2-3 weeks in theory, in reality, it lasts 2-3 hair washes, that was always one week for me. After two weeks my hair looked pretty much like that: So yeah, toners are a let down. Btw I just saw that Schwarzkopf live has purple, but its more burgundy than violet. Maybe some other brands have something better, you need to ask in a hair salon.

Yeah, I go for lighter colour. I used to love auburn too, but changed my mind ;D Navy blue is not that hard to do, there are already permanent blue dyes. Purple is much harder, it can only be done with semi-permanent stuff, like toners and foams and such. I don't have that pic on my phone anymore, so here's from instagram My purple was lighter than what you want, so my guess is your way doesn't use bleaching. And so I discourage it, because after two hair washes there will be barely any colour visible. Not that I encourage bleaching, it's awful XD So my advice is to give up on purple and do only navy blue with a permanent dye.

That's because I'm doing mixology. I don't use pure henna, but henna/cassia mix - the effect is less red, more copper-gold - I don't use water to mix the powder, I use chamomile tea (last time I mixed it with rhubarb root extract) and honey - it makes the colour lighter - I use weaker acids than lemon zest - It's making the colour too dark - I use diluted juice or apple juice, acerola works great. I also add non-dying stuff - a bit of no-silicone little-oils conditioner, lax seed gel, aloe gel - to avoid over-drying my hair in the process. So every time my mix is a bit different. Also my hair structure is weird, because part of my hair have been bleached before, so my natural hair - to shoulders - dyes more or less the same every time, below that, I just never know what happens this time my hair is almost metallic in colour. Oh, I add tumeric too! Makes colour more yellow. Btw, my natural hair is also kind of reddish. Ginger blond.

I checked it. There's no specification on number, but I think Is enough evidence. But there were spren before shattering, so there might be some forces that come directly from Adonalsium. Now, my theory is that Ashyn is Tranquiline Halls. There was a cataclysm, it's history spoils Stormlight Archive, the magic resembles boon/curse system - and that is also why I think it might be of Cultivation. The only thing is, Nightwatcher might have been not of Cultivation originally, like the Rider of Storms was not originally of Honor. In that case, Ashyn is of Adonalsium too.

"Currently". There could have been one in the past. If there was, my money's on Cultivation though. Either her or it's of Adonalsium - parallel to Rosharan Old magic. But that's an offtop

What about the Voidspren and Renarin
AeonaRin replied to Mileswasbestcharacter's topic in Stormlight Archive
She's barely speaking at that time. Her conversation with Ym shows that. And "he comes" she says before he shows up, so that's forseeing. But even if she just knows things she is not supposed to know, it's still consistent. Renarin says "It's come. We're dead", also in present simple. Before that - "It's comming" in present continuous.- 68 replies

One thing I wanted to discuss. We have Listeners that say they turned to their Gods because spren betrayed them, giving surges to men instead of Listeners, which have been bonding spren since forever. Why did spren choose to give surges to humans? This stanza indicates it was before Listeners got forms of power, so it was not to protect humans, it was not because they feared voidbringers. To answer this question we need to ask ourselves what is the difference between Nahel bond and Listener bond. We see Eshonai transform. We also follow her before that transformation. There is no spren flying around her, she doesn't communicate with it. It just is there, somewhere within her body. (Prologue to stormlight 3 spoiler) Meanwhile spren bonded by Nahel bond are separate entities, thinking, feeling, growing. They give something to men - surges - while receiving something back - sentience. It's a symbiosis. While listener bond is either commensalism (one party gains, the other neither gains nor loses) or exploitation (one party gains, the other loses) - I personally think it's commensalism, but who knows, we didn't actually see Eshonai release the previous spren she was bonded with as a warform. (Again, spoiler for stormlight 3 prologue) There's no surprise that sentient spren rather wanted to bond humans, that could give them something. Of course they probably didn't know the bond is kind of permanent and they could die because of it. When they found out they stopped bonding with humans too. So. We have Listeners feeling betrayed and jealous. And we have Odium seeing an opportunity. He gave Listeners his spren, because they wanted power, but his spren are spies. His price. These spren are both gift and price. And so Odium crafted a weapon. PS. All the quotes are from coppermind.

What about the Voidspren and Renarin
AeonaRin replied to Mileswasbestcharacter's topic in Stormlight Archive
Sorry for necroing, but I'm a bit baffled that so many people seem to think Renarin's ability is inconsistent with Truthwatchers. We've seen exactly one chapter from the perspective of a proto-truthwatcher. And in that chapter we've seen: Ym's spren clearly sees the future. Now, you might say that it's not the same, because it's not Ym seeing the future but his spren. Well, why was Syl able to stick stuff together before Kaladin was? Why Pattern can reproduce sounds before Shallan can? It's quite obvious for me, that spren have similar abilities to their Radiants. And Ym was very early on the path of Truthwatchers, his spren was still quite slow-minded and didn't even give her name. It's possible that healing is the first ability manifested in Truthwatchers, as both Ym and Stump (from Edgedencer) do it naturally. Renarin might be more advanced. His spren has enough memory to tell him the name of the order. So Renarin could be able to see the future himself. The one thing that is weird about him though is that he cannot stop himself from writing down what he sees. I don't however think that is enough to suspect he bonded a voidspren. He's abilities seem normal.- 68 replies

I know, but can you imagine? You're already pretty strormed up, but then you betray your friend sentencing him to be forever tortured, alone in hell, with all the hate focused on him, and the god dies and you can't help but wonder if that's your fault. I would be surprised if the Heralds were sane honestly.

I know the shards don't have to be organized the same way allomancy is, but it is a very good theory that I personally like And if Brandon's personal views on God had a deciding role in setting the shards, I don't think there would be an Odium.

The Heralds have been "broken" before they broke the Oathpact. That was kinda the reason they did that. Kalak points it in the prelude. And there's nothing surprising about that, considering their life consisted of either war or torture.

A little theory on Heleran
AeonaRin replied to Did Someone Say Kill Evil?'s topic in Cosmere Discussion
I just think she might just have been super religious. Vorinism condemns Radiants. She actually tried to explain (well, frantically) Lin why she's doing that. And skybreakers minions seem to travel with Nalan. I agree she might have been a member of a secret society, but there's plenty of them on Roshar and I don't think that it was Skybreakers per se. Might be some group that believes in similar things. Like Sons of Honor and Envisagers. Also Helaran believed Lin killed their mother and hated him for it. I don't think he had any idea about the cremmery that actually happened, he didn't blame her. _________ One thing I recalled randomly. Renarin was carrying around a sword screaming in his head with agony for five days straight. Both Kaladin and Dalinar, tough guys, drop dead shardblades after few seconds. Lol, Renarin is extremely strong-willed. And even he is not able to fight with this thing.
