1. Soft clearing Aman made me chuckle since his alignment was revealed. Guess paranoia of him never dies:P
2. Right. That's very true. That's what I get for posting early in the morning after getting only 6 hours of sleep. xD I knew I had agreed with Aman's plan enough to advocate doing it in a few cycles before but I couldn't remember why I wanted that. Lolz Also nooooooo our Rand activity. :'( what is your major out of curiosity? Edit: RP: Doreen barely flinched when she accidentally pricked herself with the needle. She'd been sewing since she was a child. She now ran the business that her mother once had. Making dresses for all of the stuffy noble women. She remembered as a child she'd always dreamed of putting on the beautiful gowns her mother would make and going to a fancy ball with all of the twinkling lights, lilting music, and graceful people. The older she got the more she had seen how those same people had treated her mother. They yelled at her for not working faster, not getting the details the way they imagined them, or the dress making them look fat when that was all their doing. She brushed the fine silk between her fingers, sewing careful gentle strokes and remembering her mother hard at work every day and night of her life. Those spoiled pigs didn't deserve such finery. Doreen sighed. It was a living. She couldn't deny that she still loved seeing the finished products on display. She was proud of her handiwork. She heard that someone had been killed in the city and it hadn't been human. That sent a shiver down her spine. Even after that, people were still going out and about tonight to their grand parties. She doubted even a war would stop them.
3. Okay so last cycle Aman asked me towards the end (which I saw after rollover cuz I closed at work) why I thought fifth was village. But I'd like to point out that I never said he was. I only voted Aman when I did because he was in the lead and I was trying to avoid a tie (counting in Aman's soothing) because a lot of people seemed to either forget that a tie would kill all of the people or they didnt care which is kinda concerning to me. Y'all are really bloodthirsty this game xD I didn't want to tie a lynch on the first day cycle when 1 of them was for certain a villager since there's currently only 1 elim and there was a good chance they both are/were village. I didn't think it was a good idea to dwindle our numbers so quickly. I don't understand why we want to speed along the elim team so quickly when they're surely not going to use every conversion right away. Not unless the inquisitor is just really suicidal xD oh that reminds me, we should know that there's always a chance for conversion until it shows up in the writeup that the inquisitor died. Because we know then that they used the last one and we'll know how many elims there are at that point. So I doubt that will happen early on. Anyways, rest in peace Aman. If you were right about this plan then apologies for doubting you but at least now there might be a conversion like you wanted. xD
4. Actually I did but it wont color red and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong xD so there are 5 votes on aman vs 3 on fifth Edit: I'm at work now and I already tried to color it like 5 different ways. If @Straw could pls accept it as a vote I'd appreciate it. Gotta run!
5. aman @Amanuensis thanks mr suicidal xD hmmm I'm failing xD
6. I actually forgot it was announced. That does make a big difference since I was assuming having to reevaluate my reads like every cycle just in case it had happened. I've never played a conversion game before. But just having 1 more elim won't be a full team? I'd prefer that too but that's not a conversion game. That's a regular game. I honestly think your gambit is well intentioned and honest and at point I have to leave to get ready for work. I didn't want you to sacrifice instead of hunting for the inquisitor but I don't have more time and I apologize for showing up later in the cycle. Because I don't want a tied lynch when 1 is definitely a villager and 2 could very well be villagers I'll go ahead and vote Aman as well. (As soon as someone reminds me how to do that on mobile xD)
7. Okay well answering my question before it's asked xD I don't agree with killing both of you. That's not healthy for the village unless one of you is evil and we know for sure that one of you is not. I don't like taking out 2 people in the first cycle when there is only one elim. How is that a good strategy? Edit: whoops forgot I was double posting sorry
8. Okay I caught up from last night. Personally, I think the inquisitor should play the game however he wants. While converting early would definitely help him out, it doesn't mean he will decide to. Besides if the inquisitor is inactive or forgets than that goes out the window too. xD personally, I feel Aman's stance would only be helpful if we knew the inquisitor was planning to use all of their conversions asap. But I feel like they won't do that so how will that help with our reads at all throughout the game? @Amanuensis you claimed your idea will help because it will make the game be more like a regular game but it won't. Not if the inquisitor saves a conversion for like the entire game. Our reads will always vary from cycle to cycle because of it. We'll be starting over again and again and I don't think that's gonna change. I don't see why helping the inquisitor get converts is a good thing because there will always be the possibility of conversion for the entire game. And what's wrong with winning on the first cycle?:P I mean you clearly don't care about being out on the first cycle so how do you know other people wouldn't mind it ending after 1 cycle so they can brag about how they won on the first day lol. Also did anyone else notice that @Haelbarde pointed out that a tied lynch kills both? Do we really want to kill 2 of our heavy hitters on day 1? That feels like we're very much advocating village suicide and speeding along the win process for the elims. I don't like that at all. (Okay Araris just untied it. Except not cuz Aman could still soothe a vote) I don't have time to read through the thread again cuz I have to leave for work soon. @Amanuensis if you want to die so badly then why did you tie the vote with fifth? That will kill you both
9. That's why I suggested only considering Aman's proposal of lynching a known misting after a few cycles if we only hit vanilla players. Besides, if we do follow Aman's plan, there's no guarantee that the inquisitor will even convert the first night anyways. They may decide to not convert at all for a while. It's pretty easy for 1 player to hide among a large group most of the time and later conversions help them out with throwing off reads. I wouldn't guilt trip the inquisitor into making their conversions right away and I'd argue that it wouldn't make it more fun for everyone because everyone likes different play styles. Personally I do like regular games the best where it's just village vs set elim team but that's not what we signed up to play. The inquisitor shouldn't feel like they're required to convert early just because other people might say it will make the game more fun. It's part of the mystery for who would be converted etc. Trying to wipe out the game mechanic won't work because you don't know how the elim team will want to play the game. I'd guess they'd save at least 1 conversion for late in game anyways with the suicide thing. So we won't be able to completely rule out regular reads early in game anyways. This cycle will be the only one where we know for sure that there's only 1 elim so we should probably vote suspicions if any or at least talk about them today because it'll be the only for sure cycle we get if a misting dies where we can look back and analyze who might be the inquisitor. I'm gonna do a read through later for who I'd rather vote for. While I think Aman's idea was probably well intentioned, the more I think about it, the less helpful it seems to try and focus on.
10. I agree that the inquisitor doesn't have to(and probably won't) use all their conversions up on the first couple of cycles because that kinda loses them the element of surprise and confusion which they want and is kinda the whole point of a conversion game. So while it would be nicer for the village if they do convert early, that doesn't mean we can expect it to happen. Maybe if we don't hit the inquisitor or a misting after a cycle or 2 then we can think about lynching a misting purely for being a misting to hurry the conversions along? Edit: Oh also, @Amanuensis care to take the inactivity vote off of me?
11. Oooooooooooooohhhhhhhh okay right. Yeah I should've just reread the rules rather than asking but that's so much work:P thanks Hmm so I agree with this idea but I also agree that role claiming could be dangerous as (Haelbard I think?) mentioned earlier. I'd rather you (Aman) didn't die cycle 1 just for this idea because that feels a little sad for you. Hm. I do like the risk it puts you at because it makes me lean village but I also don't ever trust you fully anymore so yeah. xD I'll just put it on my regular sus and not sus list in my mind as a point in your favor lol.
12. Ohhhh okay right I didn't understand that at first either but I get it now. I'm dumb xD because early conversions means trusting our reads on people better throughout the game without their alignment flipping. But I'm still not sure why the mistings in particular?
13. Okay firstly I'd just like to say, I love having my posts deleted when I change the page It was just basic explanations about why I've been absent which were work, feeling sick, and forgetting the game until last night. I'm here now. Heyy first time to be voted on cycle 1 I think xD thanks Aman,I feel accepted now lol. (Even if it is just for inactivity xD) Okay last time I tried to quote @Haelbarde then my post got deleted so I just wanted to say that I really liked the part of your post where you said there might be 4 spikes instead of 3. I always think it's a good thing to figure more than less. Making the village expect less conversions would feel like more of an inquisitor thing to do. So I read village on that. With a lot of very experienced players in this game it's kinda nice to have a bigger pool of people to suspect for the first conversion because if there were less of you than it would be less fun and you'd probably get picked off early because of it which always sucks for game play and fun for you guys. (Am I part of that list now? #thonk) Okay so one thing I was asking about in my deleted post was @Amanuensis why do we want to lynch mistings? I'm gonna go reread the rules but I didn't quite understand why we should want to lynch them first. Wouldn't that give the inquisitor more powers to give his converts? Since they might get the dead mistings abilities? I'll try and be active this game I swear. Please give me a chance to do so. I'll be back with more later after I get some stuff done irl.
14. Should this say that you can give up a spike to convert A player? Instead of THAT player? I've never played this game before. Would be obvious if the player died and came back to life that they were spiked lol.
15. Eyooooo told you Striker was an elim from the beginning guess that's what happens when you play with bffs haha @StrikerEZ glad you got to finally be elim!!
16. Okay, I'm going to post my thoughts on this post according to how Burnt split up her post: Firstly- Telling us that you got a random bird could be true or it could be a subtle way of making everyone think that you took an action to get an aviar rather than to sabotage. Secondly- The reaction to losing the brig could be real but it also feels like it could've been a fake reaction. I try not to read too much into reactions to things that happened in the cycles. Regardless of alignment people mourn or fake mourn in their posts generally lol. I don't see that losing the brig did that much other than knock us down to a regular MR without a brig mechanic. I don't see why the elims would knock out the brig over another section of the airship this early in game. I did mention that they might take out the brig at some point but I thought they'd only do that if they also had an inspector who would lock someone up and then take out the brig. But that would be like something to use late in game to get a double hit near the end. Not something to try cycle 1. The navigator could always have been an elim trying to prove striker's innocence cycle 1 by showing that he got the birds and didn't sabotage. That would be a move I'd consider on cycle 1 so that me getting the birds would look less evil as an elim. (not accusing, just speculating based on what I might suggest as an elim) Thirdly- Pointing out that you will be looking specifically at the people who initially voted for Elandera etc is a tactic that elims often use to point blame on players for lynching a villager. While it is something you should look at, it just gives me a feeling that you're specifically placing extra seeds of doubt in people's minds about those players. Overall my read on this post is that there's nothing in it that wouldn't be safe for an elim to say. I really shouldn't analyze each post like this in a post of my own but I'd find it a little interesting if I do and make you all have to read it. Would it be possible for a villager engineer to have read my post last cycle or just to have thought to themselves that the brig is more potentially dangerous to leave available then it is good? I'm not saying i'm positive that would be true but I'm curious to the possibility that a village engineer would sabotage the brig to avoid the elims getting a hospitalization. I find it hard to believe that Rand would give the elims an engineer when there are only 17 players to begin with and the elims can already sabotage. I'm not ruling it out, just curious if a village engineer would've done it for some reason. Why would a village engineer want there to be someone in the brig when they sabotaged it on cycle 1? That seems far too risky. This post feels genuine to me. As a villager I often try and cut off people's suspicions before they start. Because *cough *cough people do what they've done this cycle and jump down your throat for stuff that's not even suspicious. xD Drake's vote on Stick for saying this seemed almost like a joke or slyly teasing someone but then he seemed to put more weight behind that suspicion in his next post. Striker's vote on her felt like someone trying to jump on the bandwagon and looking for an easy reason to lynch a villager. These were a few things I really wanted to mention from my first read through and it felt best to put them under this quoted post before I forget them. Striker has been giving me some bad vibes in this game and I could see a Striker/Drake team. (just a theory) Is it? I'm a little surprised they'd have one in a game with so small a player count. I'm not positive they do have one tbh. I don't like to assume things like that early on. Why do you seem so unsurprised that they had one if they do? Oh that's a good point. I can definitely see the elims trying to get the brig out early because of having their actions blocked and the inspector reporting that to the thread. Hm. I like this point. I'm reading village for that point of view. I'm gonna pause right here and vote for Striker and then finish my post. I want this vote to be seen before the end of the cycle. HIs posts feel off to me and where Lopen claims that he seems to be talking off the top of his head, I don't necessarily read village on someone just for that. I'm gonna post some reasons why I think this: First cycle he says that there are 4 players up for the lynch and that it would make 3/4 chances of there being an elim in that pile. He then adds another name onto the list instead of adding to one of the existing candidates (this can be a safe place for an elim because he says he doesn't want to break any ties and have the person flip village) He votes on an inactive because he hasn't found anyone he suspects. Not a terrible reason for a Cycle 1 vote but not an unsafe elim move either. Picking off an inactive can be an easy way to allow no information for the village. Plus, I wouldn't call someone being absent for part of 1 cycle them being inactive lol. Then the post in this cycle about a village engineer wanting someone to be put in the brig when they sabotaged it? I don't understand that line of thinking. Then his reads on people he starts out saying that Xino could be an inactive elim but then says that he doesn't think there would be 2 inactive elims? Who was the first one that you're so sure of? (Oh nvm I see the thing about Aman later on) Then the whole casting shade Stick's way after Drake already had seems like pushing for a stick lynch without actually having to vote for her himself. Pretty much all of his reads were neutral which doesn't tell us much if he gets lynched and flips elim. Pretty safe way to play a reads list while looking like you're posting a lot. (later on he does use the Stick thing as a reason to vote on her which could've been a way of playing it off as that was someone he had previously stated suspicion of in an earlier post.) Takes his vote off of stick because he likes her response but then later puts it back onto stick. Hmmmmmmm okay so reading through some more Striker has actually voiced suspicions of Drake so maybe my theory about them isn't correct or maybe it's distancing. It looks like currently the vote is tied for 2 and 2 on stick and burnt. A vote on striker might not tell me as much right now as a vote on Drake if I think they have enough interactions to pull from since Drake already has 1 vote on him. Okay so strike the vote on striker for now lol. Gonna vote Drake and go back and do more analysis on him. Edit: sorry everyone I decided sleeping was more important to my health than doing more research. I'm happy with leaving the 3 way tie where it is for now. I am curious to Burn't alignment as well as Drake's so I'll let it stand there and go off to bed.
17. There was already a tie actually for Aman and xino? drake forgot to take his vote off of xino so he actually has 2 votes. Not sure what Rand's policy is on that. @Randuir @Young Bard @Devotary of Spontaneity that's why I said I was okay with the vote where it was because I thought it was already tied and I should be asleep lol.
18. Okay just caught up and finished reading everything in the rules. It's almost 2 AM so I'll be brief. One thing that I'm curious about is the internal affairs role. If there's more than one internal affairs role and several people get locked up in the brig then sabatoging the brig will put multiple people in the hospital which could take out multiple players that cycle rather than one that the elims could attack. I agree with whoever said that the village probably has a trapper and not the elims. It would be too powerful in a game with less people. The elims having a doctor sounds right and I'd think each side has at least 1 if not multiple engineers. Elim doctors healing their own teammates might become suspicious so I'd bet they'll heal villagers at some point to throw people off. Especially for if they get lynched later on. Biologists are helpful for each side and I'd think the elims would be wary of sabotaging the lab if they had a biologist because the person hospitalized will be at random. If their biologist gets hospitalized already then it would be fair game. Also I'd target someone every cycle to figure out who's targeting who and possibly catch elims that way. Messengers get to talk to the spec doc???!! Do they get to ask questions? I must know more @Randuir Okay that's all my comments for now. I must sleep. Sorry for taking so long. I'm good with the lynch where it's at because I don't have thoughts on it right now. My brain is tired and I promise to be more involved next cycle.
19. Okay finally here and going to catch up on the thread. Listened to the audio book of 6th of the dusk because I didn't want spoilers. Sorry for being late to the party but here's a bird I painted while listening to the story. Hopefully it'll help make up for my absence a little. Haha (not sure why the image is sideways)
20. Okayyyyy so I worked today and then totally didn't forget the game was starting lol. I'm gonna listen to sixth of the dust tonight and I'll be back to read the rules and the thread after because spoilers
