You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Andy92 replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you're watching a basketball game with the San Antonio Spurs and you think SA means Stormlight Archive. -
Could you use Chromium to wipe the Stormlight reserve out of a Radiant or is that limited to draining metal reserves?
-
Duralumin + Pewter = Throw radiant down a chasm
-
Maybe they're the side of Scadrial that's closer to developing instant noodles.
-
The Hoid quotes are a little...ambiguous. Brandon is pretty careful to say Hoid didn't make the switch, and Hoid didn't take it from Taln, but that doesn't mean someone else didn't do it for him.

mistborn theory is the body that Kelsier currently in Elend's
Andy92 replied to Uverdat's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I personally think Kelsier is in...Kelsier's body. The person Wax sees has scars on his arms which sounds like Kelsier's original body. I think his bones were preserved and a kandra/mistwraith was used to recreate his old body. That's just a theory at this point though, not 100% sure what body he's walking around in. -
I honestly doubt I'd watch a Mistborn anime even considering how big a fan I am of the books. I know that doesn't make sense to an anime fan, but it really is a niche genre. So much so that I'd probably even skip it. I'd prefer live action tv shows too, but at this point I think we're definitely getting a Mistborn movie. Stormlight Archive might be up in the air because I read recently that the first screen adaption for The Way of Kings made a 4-5 hour long movie. I really wish they'd reconsider that one and make it a tv series instead of chopping it up into a 2 hour movie.

Speculation on the importance of the color Red
Andy92 replied to Steeldancer's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I found another one that touches on the concept from 2015 on a Shadows of Self tour according to the tags. -
@The One Who Connects I actually searched over at Theoryland after posting that comment and found the same thing as you, so it might be doubtful if the Stormfather is "everywhere." Maybe it could still be something along the lines of "where the Stormfather is investing most of his energy" or something like that.
-
Any way that the Perpendicularity follows the current location of the Stormfather?
-
Potentially useful quote from The Way of Kings (Chapter 2): Maybe it's not a general highstorm that causes the Perpendicularity, but a strong concentration of a highstorm's power? I do think your theory of high Investiture concentration near the Perpendicularity has merit, but maybe it's something that the strength of a highstorm can play a factor in. This might also explain why Kaladin briefly slips in and out of the Cognitive Realm while he was tied up in a highstorm.
-
Oh well that just made things substantially easier.

Lightweaver for me. What a tough order when you're supposed to be honest yet you can disguise yourself as anyone lol.

@TheCremling A mix of the Coppermind plus transcripts from Q&A sessions with Brandon at autograph signings, Reddit posts, etc. There's a website called Theoryland where a lot of the transcripts from those Q&A sessions are posted.

@Staphylococcus They just seem like polar opposites which would make for a funny conversation I'm sure. Jasnah's a scholar and Wayne thinks he is in his own little way lol. But I can't disagree with you because I feel like Wayne talking to anyone can be comical.
-
I just want Wayne to meet Jasnah.
-
At least your idea was good enough that Brandon thought of it.
-
@Calderis Ah yes that does seem to fit well.
-
Are you talking about this one? It kind of reminds me of (Mistborn SH Spoilers): It seems to be a vision of someone seeing the Cognitive Realm as you say right before they die. I think this seems to be somewhat common for Cosmere deaths based on some other books. Maybe this person is seeing the very near future instead of a more distant one? I don't know what the person with "his head of lines" if referring to though.

I think the Herlads tend to shadow the Shardholders on a smaller scale in that they seem to be normal people with special abilities. Brandon's largest theme with the Cosmere is really, "if mortals were given the powers of the gods, what would they do with them?" And I think most of us would inevitably do what the Herlads and many Shardholders did...break under the pressure. It doesn't make the Herlads blameless, but I think it makes them realistic.

Could Wayne Eventually Become a Worldhopper
Andy92 replied to ILuvHats's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Even though that person isn't Wayne, I think he would seem like a decent candidate for a world-hopper. Brandon seems to like using the "sidekick" characters in his books as worldhoppers. Wayne's ability to impersonate accents so well seems like it would make him a really cool traveler between worlds. -
@Firerust Yeah that's fine! I was just too lazy to do that myself lol.

Pardon me if there has been a recent thread on this, but I didn't run across one that was too new around here. But I thought it would be fun to see how people ranked the novels in the Cosmere from favorite to least favorite. For simplicity's sake, I'm going to leave out the novellas like the ones in AU and just stick to novels. And if there are any novels you haven't read, feel free to make a list that doesn't include them! My ranking: 1. Mistborn: The Final Empire 2. The Way of Kings 3. The Hero of Ages 4. Words of Radiance 5. Shadows of Self 6. Warbreaker 7. The Alloy of Law 8. The Bands of Mourning 9. The Well of Ascension 10. White Sand (Prose Version) 11. Elantris Mistborn is amazing for me partly because it's the first Sanderson novel I read and partly because Allomancy was such an amazing magic system to learn about when I was still looking for new fantasy novels to read. The Way of Kings is right on its tail because I love Kaladin's story in that novel. As for the lower part of the list, I don't hate Elantris by any means, but its story didn't grip me as much as the others did. It has better writing than the prose version of White Sand, but I think White Sand has a better story to tell and would be higher on the list if it had a polished final version.

Perhaps we are wrong about everything.
Andy92 replied to Complexityspren's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I thought that line in the book was referring to the three worldhoppers who came to Roshar looking for Hoid in one of the interludes. Those three people still didn't know exactly where Hoid was.
