I don't think it works too well with the culture on Dayside to be honest. The novel version made a pretty big deal of Khriss standing out to most other women on Dayside. You do have the Lady Judge though in a high position...so I suppose it's not impossible by any means to have a female trackt. I guess I just have a hard time making the transition in my mind after reading an entire book where Ais was a husband and a father. My dislike for the change is in no way because I don't think a woman can be protective of her spouse and child, it just throws the image off I had in my mind after reading the novel.

I suppose it would depend on just how Cadmium bubbles work. When you're inside a bubble, do you age at the speed of time outside the bubble? Or do you age at the speed of how you perceive time inside of the bubble? Keeping yourself dormant until some time in the future seems possible if it works the second way. If it works for first way, it seems like the person inside the bubble would just be accelerating their death due to old age.

The best way I can interpret it is that member of Survivorism believed Kelsier was still alive in some way simply based on faith. Whether or not the events in Secret History actually happened, Kelsier being alive in some form or fashion was going to be a fundamental component of Survivorism. Wax's vision was "proof" that it was actually true.

Am I the only person who doesn't like Name of the Wind?
Andy92 replied to matademonios's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I still have to get around to the second book in the series. But I think The Name of The Wind portrayed Kvothe's character as a guy who's pretty emotionally messed up regarding his past. Yeah, he's macho at times when telling the story, but his assistant is worried sick about him losing his identity. He tells the Chronicler how Kvothe now sees himself as an inn-keeper instead of the man he used to be. Kvothe even seems to fail at using Sympathy against the guy who goes crazy at the inn during the last interlude of the book. I personally think Kvothe is one of the more interesting characters I've read about. I can see how his infatuation with Denna can be extreme, but I'm pretty sure he's like 15-16 years old throughout most of the first book. He's like a love crazed teenager more than a creepy old stalker imo. If you can say you never had your heart broken due to infatuation as a teenager...then you're probably lying about your teenage years lol. -
When I first started playing the game, I assumed it took place some few hundred or even thousands of years after Windwaker. You have a lot of references to characters from that game including the Rito and Koroks. In Windwaker, Hyrule was flooded as a way to seal away Ganon. Once Link had to travel under the ocean to defeat Ganon, the purpose of keeping Hyrule flooded as a seal was no longer needed. So, you end up with a post-flood Hyrule where the landscapes are vibrant with nature, and cultures are generally primitive outside a few major cities. References to the other timelines in this game is what causes the biggest hole in this theory, but I feel like a post-flood era makes the most sense from what I can come up with. Haven't finished the game yet. Might change my mind after I get through all the memories, but knowing Nintendo, I doubt there's going to be much revealed in concerns to a timeline lol.

Analyzing the 12th stanza of the listener Song of Histories

I hadn't really thought about the verse referring to the Cognitive Realm, and that's possible. The land far away is probably something we just won't know for certain until future books. -

AU Spoilers concerning Braize: -
Wasn't Wyndle originally going to be assigned to that shoe maker who was killed in one of the interludes? It does seem that his bond with Lift went through a few steps before he actually got there.

When I first read The Way of Kings, I found myself being mostly interested in Kaladin's story a lot more than the rest, so I can see how you would've done this. I don't think it works as well for the second book with how all of the plots start to come together.

The Way of Kings - Free eBook Download from Tor on March 23-24

@Yas You're welcome! -
I saw this come through Tor's Twitter feed today. They'll be offering a free eBook download of The Way of Kings on March 23-24. I figured this would be a good way to spread the word around about the book series in case if people want to try it out (or in case if anyone here just wants an eBook copy to go with their hardcover/paperback). http://www.tor.com/2017/03/20/march-2017-free-download-way-of-kings/

@Ammanas @Jondesu Thanks for the tips! I'll try Facebook first if it'll be easier for them to see. Edit: So after checking out his Facebook page, I saw Brandon posted on there that you can get White Sand by signing up for his newsletter. I hadn't done that yet, so that was easy enough! Thanks again guys!

While this is on topic...I haven't read White Sand in AU yet. What exactly does AU include from this story? I see a graphic novel, and after that, there's a few pages of text with a Prologue and Chapter One. Does AU show a preview of the written novel as well as the graphic novel? From what I've found online, I don't think the written novel was released, but some people have the transcript for it?

stormlight archive Should All Parshmen Be Killed?
Andy92 replied to Zennix's topic in Stormlight Archive
@Samaldin True, some of the details slip my mind after not reading the books for a while. I still think in general that it wouldn't be warranted. A genocide just doesn't seem like an event an author like Sanderson would portray in a justifiable way. That would be like a country on earth slaughtering innocents just because they think these people might become violent. I know it's different in the case of the story because the storm seems to affect the parshmen directly, but I think the point is still generally the same. I personally think Sanderson is going to approach this story in a "it's better to understand each other than to attack each other" kind of way within the mist of the war.- 29 replies

I saw someone on Reddit say that thankfully the giant S is covering up her left hand to give the picture some modesty.

Andy92 replied to Zennix's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think the parshman member of Bridge Four and how Kaladin and the rest of the guys treated him was enough foreshadowing to show that parshmen aren't the main problem. How you treat a person largely determines how they will act towards you. There are enough blood-thirsty high princes who I'm sure would be for the idea of a mass genocide against the parshmen, but that doesn't make it right.- 29 replies

I know he needs to finish the last Wax and Wayne Mistborn book fairly soon. But I think he needs to give Mistborn a break for a few years after he finishes the next book so he can focus on SA. I agree that 3 year gaps are better than 4. His hardest task is trying to build the Cosmere while having such a massive series like SA as its core. He wants time for Elantris sequels and Mistborn along with his short stories and non-Cosmere works. Not that I'm complaining...just would like to finish SA within the next 20 years instead of 30 lol.

@DSC01 That's just someone looking to nitpick things I'd imagine. I don't see it.

Speaking of Oathbringer...any idea what happened to the actual Shardblade at the end of WoR? Or is that simply a wait and see thing?

Let's focus on Rothfuss releasing a Rothfuss novel lol.

I think the interludes are the longest pieces of the books for me. Some of them feel more important than others (like interludes from Szeth and Eshonai in previous books). Most of the interludes are meant to give the reader a glimpse into other parts of Roshar I suppose, but my main issue has usually been that the interludes are full of brand new names of people and cities that I end up forgetting about once I get back into the main acts of the book.
