  1. The OP mentioned Vonnegut, and I remember Slaughterhouse Five being kind of odd just because of how much it jumps around. It was probably supposed to give some insight to things like PTSD and other mental problems ex-military people can suffer from, which I got, until the alien abduction scenes started happening lol. I thought the first Dark Tower book was pretty weird too. I still need to read The Slow Regard of Silent Things. It's been sitting on my shelf for a few weeks. I knew it was a story about Auri though so it doesn't surprise me that it's more weird than the main KC novels.
  2. I don't listen to audiobooks so I can't really help there, but Warbreaker will give you the background on Nightblood that you should find interesting (Warbreaker is a good story too). This one doesn't really tie into SA much, but Mistborn: The Final Empire is right up there with the books from SA as far as my favorite Sanderson novels go. If you're looking to expand on the Cosmere as a whole, you'll eventually want to read through that series anyways. But the first book can stand on its own enough to where you shouldn't feel rushed to have to read the next installment immediately after.
  3. I always had more of a Disney prince look in mind for a guy like Lightsong. I thought Returned were generally really attractive which played into their godlike status. Andy Serkis doesn't really fit what I had in mind.
  4. Yeah I assumed he has metalminds inside him when I was reading the book for the first time. Just remembered some of those quotes and it made me think the OP's idea isn't completely outside the realm of possibilities.
  5. It's an interesting idea since all of his external metalminds were removed (unless if they missed something well hidden, I haven't read that scene in a while to really know exactly what happened). It's possible he hid some by swallowing them. But he does seem to channel something akin to Trell in that scene with the big speech he gives before his death. I think you may be at least on a bit of a correct train of thought based on what Brandon has said about Miles before.
  6. As soon as someone said Adolin, I knew @maxal would be back in here lol.
  7. The only Shard on Roshar that's broken as far as shattering is concerned is Honor. Never know, could actually be a positive prophecy (which I know seems few and far between in these books lol). But it could be alluding to a victory where Honor eventually reigns over Roshar despite being broken.
  8. For me it might be Vasher. I knew Nightblood was a big deal before I read Warbreaker, but when I read the book I became a lot more interested in the chapters with Siri and Lightsong. He has some cool scenes but I think with the character being a worldhopper, he gets hyped up a bit when he just hasn't been amazing to read about outside the sword he carries.
  9. I can't think of many groundbreaking theories, but I think there will be at least one major death in this book. We've had people coming back from the dead, and the biggest death so far was to a guy everyone wanted killed anyways lol.
  10. Honestly the idea of someone bonding a spren meant for someone else by accident is a funny concept I'd like to see happen lol.
  11. I personally disliked WoA because the Vin/Zane/Elend plot felt like something I would've expected out of Twilight. Rest of it was okay, just hated the attempt at romantic tensions.
  12. It's my favorite of the Era 2 books. The ending is a kick in the gut.
  13. I think how you act on instinct reveals a lot about a person. I get it though, I don't think he's a terrible person necessarily. I just don't think he's as honorable as his father after that scene.
  14. That depends on whether or not you view vigilante justice as honorable or not.
  15. Shardclaws: The Wolverine KR
  16. But at the same time, Tor's official artwork shows Vin and Elend as both being white on the HoA cover. And Brandon liked the idea of Ellen Page playing Vin if a Mistborn movie was made back when the books were written...so I always imagined those characters as being white too.
  17. I still feel like that Perpendicularity has to do with the Stormfather. You have this giant spren that Honor sort of dives into after being Splintered...so you'd end up with this large concentration of Investiture that can move (I'm assuming) because it's a spren.
  18. That could totally be a decoy...
  19. @The One Who Connects If it ain't charring something with fire then I'll be unfulfilled by its appearance lol.
  20. @The One Who Connects Thanks, I would like to see a dragon somewhere along the line before Dragonsteel comes out in...too many years to think about lol.
  21. I've read before that one of the original 16 Shardholders wasn't human. Was one of the original holders a dragon?
  22. Relevant WoB:
  23. I want it to be Jasnah holding Nightblood but I'm pretty sure it's just her spren Shardblade.
  24. Could be more backing behind the "Trell is Autonomy" theory, and Bavadin is the force invading Scadrial.
  25. A lot of sci-fi series handle FTL travel by either creating a spacecraft that can travel faster than the speed of light (think Star Wars, jumping into hyperspace), or it's by a method similar to what you're talking about here. Exit the time domain we live in and enter a place where time and space don't exist, then re-enter our world in a different physical location. If Sanderson wants to use the second route, I could see it involving the Spiritual Realm. We know a bit about how traveling works in the Cognitive Realm, and simply entering that realm doesn't appear to grant any FTL traveling capabilities. Space still exists in the Cognitive Realm, it's just a 2D plane instead of 3D. We might possibly get some headway on this one in Oathbringer if Shallan or someone studies the Oathgates more in depth. I would be interested to know if the transportation involved with Oathgates and Aon Tia involved the person entering the Spiritual Realm completely to make the jump from one location to the next.
