  1. I will also interrogate Quiver. Sheep... I will wait.
  2. For those strategizing the attack on the chasmfiend, Sareth is skilled in the quarterstaff, is swift, and has a pouch of red powder, which I intend to use to blind the chasmfiend. Hithon has out done me with the fancy powders and such, so use my presence as you will. As for discussion, is the best course of action to keep Sheep in jail or to execute as soon as possible? Imprisoned players can't vote or do much anyways, but the only way to know of their alignment is to execute them. I think we need all of the information we can get now, so we have evidence to base stuff on later. But what exactly are we going to get from Sheep? Two players have formed bonds, but what are the odds that one of them will be Sheep? And if Sheep is going to be inactive, then why go through and get a bond, if only to keep others from getting it? I don't think Sheep is much any threat now, but I don't think we should pardon.
  3. Sareth had finished packing what soil he had left onto the bottom of his boots. He certainly didn't have enough to be scattering it about during the battle, and he wouldn't have the time. Hopefully this would stick long enough for him to finish the job. Kintas had joined Ranatar, and Balthazar as well. It was his turn now. He edged up to the ledge and looked down. A steep incline, but with a few outcroppings here and there. He tried to judge the distance between them, but it was hard to be sure. It would have to do. He looked up, gave the rest of the Initiates a slight smile, Kaladin a sarcastic salute, then leaped. He slid, feet appropriately angled, down the slope at frightening speed. He mentally facepalmed. Now all of that dirt has been worn off. Good job, Sareth. Then he jumped, propelling himself onto an outcropping below. He landed with a thud, but no injury. Not even a little stormlight used. Down to his left was another, but it was a good ten to fifteen or so. The surface was too small for a landing like that. With a leap, he hurtled through the air towards the outcropping. The air rushed through his hair. When he was in range, he swung out his staff and thrust it into the outcropping. With a push, his downward force was transferred to forward momentum, and he was flying through the air. He dragged his staff on the cliff, trying to slow himself down, but he was going to fast. He didn't want to snap his staff. He slammed into the outcropping, breaking his ankles and smashing the rock. He cried out in pain, and the stormlight healed him. However, he was still falling quickly. The ground was rushing up fast. When it seemed like a gruesome collision was imminent, he pushed off of the cliff, springing outward. He hit the ground and rolled, cushioning his fall and coming to a stop some distance from the other three. He stood up, panting. After he caught his breath, he looked down and checked his boots. The thick crust of dirt had worn off. Sareth facepalmed. Storms. Since there was nothing he could do about it, he walked over to the other three. They had watched his descent, perhaps a little jealous of his minimal use of stormlight. However, their task now was to kill the chasmfiend.
  4. Nifty. Welcome to the Shard!
  5. Sareth simply shook his head when he learned that they would be taking the Oathgate. He doubted there was enough soil left in his bag for any traveling out there. Nevertheless, he grabbed his bag and threw it over his shoulder. He grabbed his cloak and staff as well. A greatshell... no, this won't do. He rushed down levels to find a tailor. He was a slim man, quite fashionable, but a little under the weather. Sareth asked him where he got his dyes. The man looked confused, but then told him to look for Jemai. Sareth immediately began searching. At last, he found him, or her actually. She had only some dye left from her journey, but she had a wide variety of powders. Sareth exchanged a sphere or two for a sizable pouch of a deep red powder. He thanked her graciously, and swiftly left. Now they were on the Shattered Plains, a landscape with the appearance of cracked soil enlarged a hundredfold. Captain Kaladin had yet another crazy plan for the Initiates. Sareth wondered whether Kaladin was the true murderer, and was attempting to get them all killed. It was certainly plausible, seeing today's task. They stood on a platform, Sareth, on a layer of dirt on top of the platform. Before them, off a little ways, was a massive tent, the sail of a massive ship stretched out. Kaladin grinned. “Don’t suppose any of you have seen one of those up close, have you?” Sareth slowly placed a hand on his face and dragged it down. A literal greatshell. How kind of you to be dropping hints. “Well then I guess today is our lucky day. Cause not only are we seeing one of them up close. We get to kill one!” Now any excited feelings were turned on their heads. Quite a few more fearspren were wriggling out of the ground. However, some looked determined. Sareth tapped his chin. Were they courageous or foolhardy? “In case you’re all wondering how you’re getting down there, well… I hope you listened when I said to bring every infused sphere you own, because trust me. You’re going to need a lot to survive this drop.” And with that, he pushed Ranatar off the cliff. Many of the Initiates gasped. Sareth inhaled sharply. Then from the bottom came an audible groan and the shout: "I'm okay!" Kaladin turned and yelled down at him. "Then go kill that storming chasmfiend!" "So, who's next?" Kaladin grinned.
  6. Sareth still stood on the roof. Why? Here, on top of the world, one feels connected to something greater, connected to the heavens themselves. The world is a round table, stretching out far below, the mountains and valleys looking like bumps and scratches. Sareth stretched out his arms, feeling the wind, letting it flow through the holes in his uniform. Perhaps tonight, he thought, I will get this mended. But now, peace with the world. Seeing this majesty, so much greater than one man, puts all other events to shame. Sareth smiled. It is no wonder why nature is Truth. This is a prime example. Open to the world and the sky, he calmly sorted his thoughts. Some Initiates are leaving, realizing a serious need elsewhere. He wished them luck on their travels. They will not have to worry about the events of the Holy City much longer. Most of the rest had gone below, to their rooms and elsewhere, out of the elements. It gave him a peaceful solitude on the roof, just him and the heavens. The sun drooped closer to the horizon, the light turning yellow and orange. He sighed. Only tomorrow will reveal new secrets, and with them new questions. Seek the Truth.
  7. Alias, you too? We can't have everyone drop out on us! Aman, will you tell us their alignments if they drop out of the game?
  8. Oh, that's too bad. It would have been great to have you continue the game with us. Best of luck!
  9. Sareth tapped his chin. Rea hadn't made much contact with Lomot. He glanced around at the others. Perhaps one of the more sophisticated Initiates had associated with the victim. But Rea brought up another good point. Who would want to kill an Initiate? "I don't know who might have done this abomination, but whoever did it is most likely trying to break us up from the inside. And even if this murderer is an intruder, not of our number, then we still have to worry about a Shardbearer at large. It might be best to learn all you can from the other Initiates, so we can determine who is guilty. I wish you luck." With that, Sareth nodded to the young Initiate and walked away, in no direction in particular.
  10. 1. What is the average velocity of a swallow? (I get the reference) 2. The opposite of everything is? 3. What is the daily lifestyle of the rare, wild Striker? 4. What happens when I divide by zero?
  11. Welcome to the Shard!
  12. If we are going to make specific colors for RP and discussion, what about mobile? There are no colors on mobile. Should we instead place a caption above text stating whether it is RP or discussion, and use the line thing: to separate RP and discussion? I think this is easier than color coding everything.
  13. Sareth looked down at the young Initiate. He was almost a boy, just barely older it seemed, and now was in the middle of this mystery. He glanced around at the other Initiates. They are all in the middle of this. "Yes, this is nice weather, considering other things. However, what do you know about Lomot, the unfortunate victim last night? Have you spoken with him at all?" He asked Rea. @TheSilverDragon
  14. Yup. @Secrets will tell you all about it.
  15. Welcome to the Shard! Nice to have you here.
  16. @TheSilverDragon, yes it was a poke vote. I will be dealing a lot of poke votes until a valid suspicion can be gathered. However, retracting it will make it useless, so get used to that vote for this cycle. Speaking of valid suspicions, I don't have much input. I would simply refer you to Doc12's post, as it is a much better analysis of the first cycle's discussion. RP to come later.
  17. I think that we need to establish a general timeline for RP. The highstorm has ended, correct? So now RP should effect events after the highstorm. Players making their first post can write on the highstorm, but then focus on the current events. This is simply to make RP more understandable.
  18. Question for One: Why is there fifty states in the United States of America, ten provinces in Canada, and oblasts in Russia, while kiwi is a fruit and a bird, but a fruit bat is neither a fruit nor a bird? Question for Two: If there is a confrontation between a bicyclist and a mathematician at a four-way intersection in the middle of Baltimore, and fifteen green jelly beans are in the police officer's pocket, then what is the answer to the innocent bystander's four-year-old's math problem? Question for Three: Why does North Korea have a nuclear program? Question for Four: Who is the leader of the Illuminati?
  19. Hmmm. It has been five hours since I have posted, and no one else has posted anything. I guess I'll start doing things. An old farmer's proverb goes like this: a day without work is a day wasted. Sareth had heard this saying for years during his childhood, but once he grew old enough to question it, he found that it was false. There are other productive ways to spend a day than just work. In addition, work is a vague term. So, Sareth dismissed this old phrase as just a piece of outdated wisdom. However, age brings new wisdom. In a way, that old proverb is correct. Work is essential in a day, no matter if you spend sunrise to sunset in the fields or simply move a piece of furniture. But in another sense, the phrase is a call to action. And Sareth will not waste this day. His eye scanned the Initiates. He was not inclined to kill any of them, for surely the culprit, when found, would be executed. However, a systematic approach through each Initiate would effectively locate the murderer, if nothing rash is done by any of the more passionate Initiates. Oh, how completely terrible this could end if someone jumps to the wrong conclusions... There. The young one, Rea. He seems like a good place to start. Sareth walked towards him.
  20. Are you one of those people, like me, who when reading SA, really wants some chouta, because it would be totally awesome? If only chouta existed. Here is what the Coppermind says about chouta: "Chouta is a Herdazian street food. It consists of a thick, fried flatbread wrapped around fried meat and a dark gravy. It is wrapped tightly enough that it can be carried in one hand and eaten while doing other things.[1] The standard meat is flangria, which is mixed with ground lavis, formed into small balls, battered and fried. The chouta stands in Dalinar's warcamp also sell a variety that is stuffed with cremling claws.[2] " That's good to know, Coppermind. But what is flangria? Or lavis? And how on earth will we get cremling claws? Flangria, also from the Coppermind: "Flangria is produced via Soulcasting, which makes it far cheaper than other kinds of meat, although some disdain flangria due to its origin.[1] It is often used to cheaply feed large quantities of people, such as bridgemen. It is fried and used in the meatballs for chouta, an inexpensive Herdazian food. " So... we can't Soulcast, so how do we get it? Lavis, also from the Coppermind: "Lavis is species of plant from the rockbud family.[1] It is an important and ancient cereal crop on Roshar.[2][3] Lavis is grown on hillsides across Roshar. Lavis fields are typically planted in the seasons following the Weeping, when the highstorms are weaker.[2] A mixture of lavis seeds and stumpweight sap is spread across the hillsides. As the dark brown polyps begin to grow, they have to be wormed. Farmers must carefully go over each polyp searching for worm burrows. The worms like sugar, so they can be removed by inserting a reed tipped with sugar into the burrow and pulling it out when the worm latches on. Once the worm is removed, the polyp can be patched with crem. Each field can take weeks to check and it is important to check repeatedly for worms since any worm that is missed results in the loss of the entire polyp. The crop can be fertilized during the worming process.[4] Lavis is a staple food source and is prepared in many ways.[4] A common version of chouta is stuffed with flangria that has been mixed with ground lavis, formed into small balls, and then battered and fried.[6] It can also be fermented into lavis ale or distilled into honu, a hard liquor.[7][8]" Well, yet another ingredient that we cannot find on Earth. So how will we poor humans ever taste heavenly chouta? It seems like we will simply have to work with real-life substitutes. Culinary experts out there, what do you think is the best substitute meat for flangria, and the best substitute for lavis?
  21. Yes. Don't the cookies.
