Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination

Sareth continued walking. For a moment there, it seemed as if all movement in the gala had ceased, all attention on the two women. However, the crisis had been averted, and the normal procession of the party continued. He made his way over to the man in the corner, occasionally weaving around the random party goer. As he drew close, he thought he recognized the man. Araon, that was his name. He walked up behind him. "Is the sky not beautiful? The pure wonder of nature. What is nature is Truth, for the Creator is Truth, and so are His creations. I notice that you are not taking part in the celebrations. Might I inquire why?" @Assassin in Burgundy -
Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination

Sareth had not moved from the wall. He didn't need to. From this position, he had a good view of nearly everything that went on in the pavilion, and could guess about what else. While he reclined of a sort, he observed the going-ons of social activity and some other strange events. To name one, more than one individual seemed extremely anxious, glancing about at his or her surroundings. Of course, this couldn't be counted as too suspicious. He had met a handful of people with anxiety disorders and extreme fear. It was a problem of the mind, and from these experiences, he had gained a respect of those people. So it didn't unnerve him to see this. Other things were more concerning. Groups of people had condensed from the crowd, chattering among themselves. In such circles, vile things could be born. And besides, he thought, it is good to meet different people, get to know their cultures. The other side of his mind hissed, hypocrite! Why don't you go out and meet some new people? Sareth brushed that aside. For now, it is time to watch and wait. He swept his view over the party goers again, and glanced at the other man, off in the corner opposite his, obviously avoiding the gala. He had refused many who approached him, gesturing rudely. Quite an introvert, that one. The warrior type, grizzled and muscular. Most likely skilled with the sword. Sareth tapped his chin. Would such a man be interested in the Truth, or would he refuse it blatantly, like he had the hopeful dancers? Somethings could only be discovered by doing, so Sareth began to stride in the direction of the man. -

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Hemalurgic Headshot replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sareth-son-Erneth stood by the wall, watching the new inhabitants of the Holy City relax and enjoy themselves. Soft music drifted over the throng, from a group of musicians playing instruments brought by refugees. He had spoken with them earlier, having an interest in music himself. The musicians were nice, friendly people, and he had been able to share a message of the Truth with them before he left. His attention was now drawn by a curious display. Some ambitious brewer, or perhaps wine hoarder, had arranged glasses of colorful wine side by side to make a full rainbow. The hues of the wine were in such perfect intervals that it seemed that there was one complete gradient among the entire display. Sareth took a moment to admire such craftsmanship. Such a display could make one thirsty, but Sareth had vowed to himself to abstain from alcohol. It had raised a few brows among his old friends, and there was no specific teachings of the Truth against alcohol consumption (there were many different views among Truthseekers on the subject), but Sareth remained firm to his decision. He sipped a glass of water. His attention was now on those partying. It seemed every person he saw was dressed in his or her finest apparel, whatever had been taken with them. Some had gone to extreme measures to "beautify" themselves, masking themselves with powders and makeup. He had done nothing of the sort, and still wore his banded cloak. He glanced down at it. Perhaps in normal circumstances, it could be considered fancy, but here, among these, it was outdone. Looking back at the overdressed dancers, he wondered if such fashion was beneficial. Did it do anything to cover one's face in makeup? He had never tried it, and probably never will. So he leaned against the wall in peaceful meditation. -

I can hop on the possible Gamma bandwagon, or... I can accuse someone and hope for the best! @Wyrmhero, who are you voting against? If I think they are suspicious, then I will jump on that bandwagon. I don't have any negative views on Grumbles right now.- 1403 replies

Have you even noticed that most dystopian novels are set in the United States (or what's left of it)? The Hunger Games, Divergent, Legend, Steelheart... Why don't we have a dystopian India? I would read a dystopian India novel, or for that matter, a dystopian Australia too. What would dystopian India be like?

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Hemalurgic Headshot replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sareth-son-Erneth stood facing the crowd of people. People who were uncertain, scared, or worried. People who needed the Truth. He glanced down at his cloak, where his book was tucked away. The Truth could help them, like it had done for him. The crowd murmured among themselves, most likely about him. He stood and raised a hand for their attention. The chatter ceased. "Friends, consider the marvel in which you stand this moment. This is Urithiru, the Holy City! Does it not bring awe to your gaze and a hush to your voice? Behold its grand arches and vaulted ceilings, engraven pillars and seamless stone! You should count yourselves as the lucky few that can witness this place. "Consider now this: what is your purpose in life? Does not everyone want to know this? Why am I here? Why do I live? Why? I will tell you. It is to find Truth, the constant of the universe. It is the Truth that guides what is right. I say unto you, the Truth is what will bring you satisfaction in life and a purpose to fulfill! But what is the Truth? The Truth is what is sure. It is the rules by which the universe runs. The Truth is that right will conquer wrong and that happiness never was wickedness. The Truth is that honesty is the greatest virtue and that honest dealings with others are of utmost importance. The Truth is that lies are evil, and are a perversion of the True Way. I caution you, do not lie! A lie twists your soul and tarnishes your spirit. If you have lied or dealt dishonestly, repent! Forgiveness is of Truth, so do not fear, for if you seek the Truth and turn not back to your wayward past, your misdeeds will be as ash before a highstorm. Join the fold of Truth, and seek what is right! Peace be unto you all." Sareth began to turn away, but a call rang out in the crowd. "Does this mean the other religions are wrong?" Sareth turned to the sound. It was a man, Alethi, who had spoken. Sareth straightened himself to answer. "The Truth is a constant. If a religion is True, then it is the Truth. Match your religions to the Truth, and if they fit, then adhere to it. A religion of lies is a cult of destruction." The man nodded, seemingly content, and began to walk away. The crowd began to diffuse, and Sareth walked off. Perhaps they will recognize the Truth, he thought. It will be wonderful if they do.
