  1. Welcome to the Shard! Don't eat those cookies!
  2. He was too relieved to be alive. And I guess the water cooled him off after a hot battle.
  3. Welcome to the Shard! That means you still have to read Wax and Wayne (but finish the first series first), Arcanum Unbounded, and White Sand! Still don't eat the cookies.
  4. "Get up. You are needed." Sareth looked around the darkness. It was a room, completely black, with visible dimensions and invisible everything. And in the center of it was an orb of light. "Get up, Sareth. I won't let you die yet." Sareth struggled to his feet, or at least what he thought were his feet. Did he have feet? He couldn't see them. He squinted at the orb. "Wha- who are you?" He asked. The orb seemed to wink at him. "I am Immera. Now let's get you back alive..." the voice faded away as the light from the orb intensified and engulfed the room, getting brighter and brighter, threatening to burn Sareth away... ... Daylight. And stormlight. Sareth hastily sucked in the stormlight in front of his face, feeling the power course through his body, fixing him where broken and strengthening him where not. He looked up at Kintas, who looked down at him with relief. "Oh, thank the Almighty you are alright. You wouldn't breathe the stormlight, and I was getting worried. Oh, and I found this nearby," he handed something to Sareth. It was his staff, a little beaten, but still whole. Sareth pulled it to his chest. He smiled and nodded to Kintas. "Thank you so much for this. I will find someway to repay you," he said. Kintas looked up, something catching his eye. Sareth followed his gaze. It was the Fifth Nameless, as the others had become to call him, standing on the back of the chasmfiend. He extended his arm to Sareth, the other grasping a quarterstaff. "Let's finish this," he said, with a determination in his voice that didn't take no for an answer. Sareth got to his feet, leaning on his staff, and smiled. "Yes, let this be finished." Then he ran and leaped, thrusting himself into the air and landing on one of the beast's legs. Then he swiftly climbed onto the back, feeling alive and full of energy. He turned to the Fifth, staff gripped firmly. "Let's do this."
  5. So are we assuming that the chasmfiend is good as dead? Because I am contemplating on having Sareth lie there, in the chasm, unconscious, until either the chasmfiend is truly dead (which might come in the next writeup), or until someone drags him out. I have a good idea for RP once he wakes up, but I want to have the other players interact with this. I am totally fine with waiting for Aman's next great writeup to revive my character. On another note, next cycle we are probably going to have a bunch more Bonds popping up. If two Bonds have already been made, then there is a good chance that the rest of the Orders will not be much more expensive. Then we start getting those interesting abilities showing up. Things will really start getting interesting once random people burst into flame. Let's just hope the Dustbringers are accurate.
  6. Either way, Welcome to the Shard! Don't eat the cookies.
  7. This chasmfiend is only unconscious, and pretty much everyone that was on top of it needs to be recovered after it fell. At least I suppose. But we can take on another chasmfiend
  8. Yippee! Good for you! I know how good accomplishment feels!
  9. I'm no longer up there, so there is definitely room for another.
  10. There was a rumbling, and Sareth looked up. The outcropping was crashing down the chasm towards him and the chasmfiend! He forsook his bag-tether and took off at a run, down the beast's back. He leaped over spines and scales with haste, hoping to get away from the incoming boulder. Then the rock struck. It hit the chasmfiend square in the head, knocking it down and pitching it forward. The whole beast lurcher forward, knocking Sareth off his feet. He tumbled down, bouncing off of spines and limbs. Somewhere, his staff was flung from his fingers. He saw the chasmfiend collapse, whether knocked out or dead, before he blacked out. Certainly the beast isn't dead yet, but Sareth is down for the count! Someone might want to save him. @Doc12, Hithon may or may not have been flung off of the chasmfiend's back. Decide on it as you will. And for the rest of you, don't celebrate just yet! Who knows when it will wake up...
  11. It is not terribly large, about the size of a chull (which compared to the chasmfiend isn't very large), however, it may stun it, and might even pin down a leg or so.
  12. Sareth turned around to see the blind man, Hithon, pull himself onto the chasmfiend's back far behind him. Sareth smiled and gave him a salute- one he couldn't see, but it was done. Down below, Initiates ran about, jabbing at the enraged beast's legs, bringing some of them down. Half blind, the chasmfiend still flailed about in a rage. Sareth patted it. Such anger like this will only get it killed, which is what is happening. He swung over onto the side of beast's head and gave its good eye a firm poke. It bellowed, and thrashed some more. Sareth held onto his bag-tether with all of his might. Then he saw something. Above them, on the chasm wall, was a large outcropping. The chasmfiend's struggle had made cracks in the walls, and Sareth could see the outcropping could fall if the chasnfiend struck the wall again. If they could get it to fall on it... perhaps they could pin it down. It was a plan, and plans are usually a good thing. He shouted to his fellow Initiates. "There is an outcropping above the chasmfiend! If we can get this beast to ram into the wall again, the outcropping will fall on it! Try to get it enraged!"
  13. The attack began, and the group split. Teresh, HIthon, and Araon had made the forward charge, going straight towards the beast. The chasmfiend attempted to catch them all at once, but each time it swung with a claw, the Initiates dodged its attack. Sareth joined the right flanking group, rushing forward. The forward group was certainly retaining its attention, but would it turn on them once it is struck? He breathed in stormlight to give himself a burst of energy, and sped up. Nearing the chasmfiend, he swung his staff forward and jammed it into the ground in front of him, pole vaulting into the air... and onto the chasmfiend. The stormlight-enhanced vault flung him high, right into the chasmfiend's face. Sareth caught hold of the horn-like protrusion on the front and pulled himself over, just as the chasmfiend went wild. It swung its head frantically from side to side, trying in vain to shake Sareth off. However, Sareth had taken the bag from his waist (the one he filled with soil), and looped it over the horn. He hoped that it would not come loose and fling him against the chasm wall. On the ground, the forward group had fallen back, out of the reach of the beast's frenzy. Though it may have been only minutes, it felt like hours. Then the chasmfiend, in a final attempt, smashed its head into the wall. Sareth had only a mere second to roll over to the other side of its head before it crashed into the stone. It staggered back, stunned by its own doing. Sareth shouted down. "Strike now!" and flung his red powder into the chasmfiend's eyes, to complete its stupor.
  14. It seems like we have quite a few players down in the chasm. Sareth is definitely not a great warlord or general, but I am going to start the fight. Ascribing to the story timeline, from this point on, the chasmfiend fight begins. RP prior must be signified as such. Now, if you're ready, let's have some fun. Sareth looked around at the Initiates around him, gripping their swords or sword-substitutes. He glanced over his shoulder at the chasmfiend. It will be a true miracle if they can take it down. Good for him, he believed in miracles. Now it was time to inspire the Initiates. "My friends, fellow Initiates, we meet here today on the field of battle. Before us is an adversary like we have never faced before. Some of you have never faced anything. However, today we are unified as Initiates of the Knights Radiant! For I say unto you, that unified we can strike down any foe, overcome any obstacle! There may be times when the sun goes dark or when the moon turns red, but stand strong together! Remember unity as we fight today. Seek unity, seek the Truth. "I would like to share something with you before we begin: consider the ant. Perhaps you do not know what an ant is. An ant is tiny, a minuscule insect. Yet when the nest is disturbed, the whole colony will rise up, and strike the intruder with all of their might! Many will die, but for the good of the colony they force back the foe! Consider the ant my friends, as we fight today. May the Truth shine within you." Sareth leaned on his staff and watched the Initiates' faces. Some seemed contemplative, pondering on Sareth's words. Others looked eager to fight. Sareth backed away as Ranatar stepped forward and briefed the group on the plan. A three-pronged attack, striking at the legs. From there, everything was improvised. Ranatar finished his description, and everyone braced themselves. No one was sure who gave the word, but it didn't matter. "Go!" @randuir @Drake Marshall @Doc12 @Magestar @Jondesu @Arinian @Arraenae @TheMightyLopen @Assassin in Burgundy @Alvron It is time. I hope you were inspired.
  15. I once was building a sandbox and while laying the last timber (the last possible time I could injure myself!), I dropped it on my right ring finger! I then spent the next minute running around yelping "ow". That was two months ago. My finger still isn't the same. The fingernail is the worst, and most visible. After I dropped the timber on it, it turned a dark purple, and the rest red. Then the next week the purple had turned blue, the red stayed red, and then the rest turned white. After that, the red and blue turned into purple and faded... you get the picture. The problem was, I had a piano recital the next week, so I was really worried about that. However, the pain had subsided mostly by then, so I was fine.
  16. You will have me online for the next two hours. After that, I will be unreachable until nine hours afterwards because of sleep. I would very much like to be in on the action, so combatants, prepare yourselves for the attack!
  17. Oh. Well that goes one great way to prove elims down the drain.
  18. Wait. Only one Unjust is necessary to kill a person in prison? If there are two players in prison, and one is killed by elims, then can we assume that the other is an elim?
  19. Sareth considered Ranatar's plan. Then he looked at the chasmfiend. Storms, it was enormous. Maybe what Ranatar said could work, but even then, it would be an intense and possibly very bloody fight. He eyed the beast's legs. Yes, as Ranatar said, its legs seemed vulnerable. but they were still huge. As Sareth examined the chasmfiend, a memory came to him. One day, he had seen a bird of prey swoop down on a small songbird. Seeing its inevitable doom, the bird cried out. Then, from seemingly nowhere, the entire flock of songbirds emerged and swarmed the predator, pecking at it with unexpected ferocity. Eventually, the larger bird fled, leaving the songbirds alone. This is the illustration from WoR of the chasmfiend. I copied it from Brandon's website. I hope it will give a bit of perspective on the adversary we have to face.
  20. How many players do we want to confirm that they have jumped off the cliff before we begin the chasmfiend fight?
