Where could Earth fit in to the Cosmere?
Extesian replied to AnonymousFan's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I have a nice little rule for myself that between each Cosmere book I (re)read, I read the Arcanum Unbounded essays. At least that often. Biggest cosmere lore bang-for-your-buck out there -
Just wrapped up my Secret History and Edgedancer rereads, finally onto WAY OF EVERSTORMIN' KIIIIINGS!!! By Vedeledev's Golden Keys, I love this book.

Where could Earth fit in to the Cosmere?
Extesian replied to AnonymousFan's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yolen? Arcanum Unbounded, Khriss' Scadrian System essay. She talks about both the Shards coming from Yolen, talks about how its ecology compares (mentions fain life) and talks about the planet being a Cosmere standard. She mentions it in SH as the place humans originally came from, and that it's hidden, but doesn't mention it by name. -
But... what about the Terrismen accompanying Alendi, they were storing strength (age?) while they slept, iirc.

I don't believe there is but if you can find one I'd love to be proven wrong. This WoB kind of implies it has happened (but VERY tenuously and could just be talking about Harmony).

I'm happy to help, this thread is a good idea. But I'm useless at thinking of these things off the top of my head, it's the sort of list I add to when a question comes up in my mind. I will try remember it for those times and think of anything else meanwhile.

If you were a twinborn, what would you like to be?
Extesian replied to Lord Bookwyrm's topic in Mistborn
It's a complicated issue. @Calderis has the right of it, though the way I explain it is that your true age is by reference to the things you're spiritually connected to. Atium can fool you but when you stop compounding it, the Connections you have to other things show that those other things have aged by a certain number of years. When every thing in the Cosmere has aged by, say, 500 years, and you haven't, those Connections provide a kind of universal clock that can't be fooled. So when you stop compounding atium, stop fooling your physical, cognitive and spiritual aspects into thinking time hasn't passed, that universal clock kicks in. Lerasium rewrites a spirit web. Becoming a Mistborn seems to be almost a side effect, the principal effect though is rewriting the spirit web.- 155 replies

oathbringer Sample Chapters Galore for Oathbringer
Extesian replied to CaptainRyan's topic in General Brandon Discussion
More than a quarter of the book. Unreal. -
It's Shallan's flashback to the fair, where she meets Wit as a child. He talks to her dad and downs a vial of liquid that she at first thinks is poison. The idea is there were metal flakes and he was using emotional allomancy. Other investiture? Wit and Zahel have Breath. The sand in Mraize's collection is white so probably charged sand from Taldain.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Extesian replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you say to the nurse doing your IV "Thanks Aslydin" and overthink her reaction. When someone tells you they like Felt and overthink whether they mean the material or a person. When you see someone talking to a tree and overthink whether they realmatically aware. When you can't get into a club because you overthink them trying to stamp your hand and accuse them of trying to change you. When you watch a symphony orchestra and you overthink the conductor's conducting, and swear you see Aon Ene in there. When you overthink the number of new statues and whisper to each one "My sin be hidden". When you overthink your girlfriend forgetting something and demand she get an x-ray, mumbling something about her true body. When you overthink your friend turning blonde and start talking to get about One and the Long Trail. When you overthink your dad's hair turning white, jump up and down yelling that you've found him, and tell him "I'm on to you Cephandrius" while giving him a sly wink. -
I agree with Oversleep, I think the nurse is probably not Aslydin. Or at least there's insufficient evidence. We know a Terris worldhopper and we know Aslydin is one. We don't know there's only one. Hmmm I hadn't heard that about Argent finding out a huge spoiler (implying there is a huge spoiler to be found). I will pay particularly close attention to Renarin I think.

Firstly, I love this, so I don’t want to criticise. But jam is the cure Beware bread. Smash jam. -
If the sample chapters are in order I'll read them, otherwise nooooo way. This book is only behind Doors of Stone in terms of things I look forward to in this world. I've read advance things so far but a quarter of a book is way too much. As for maxal, the good thing about the rep system is it evens out. This isn't the first or last time I've upvoted her to balance a baffling downvote. Same with others. If someone gets an unwarranted downvote it'll be fixed. Anyway maxal is clearly not here for the rep, which is why she's so good to discuss stuff with.

With hit classics such as Blockbuster WoB Part 1, A Christmas WoBbing Miracle, Sea WoBs, WoB Hype Back and Job WoB Done. No seriously, I want there to be a kickstarter where we record every WoB using cat sounds. Meow the WoBs. SERIOUSLY

I'll take it!

I fear the crossover between Sanderfans and hip hop lovers is low though I'd also considered Snoop WoB, Dr WoB, 2WoB Shakir, Kendrick LaWoB, WoBassic 5, Anderson.WoB and, my second favorite, Run the WoBs. But gotta give it to my man, WoBby Smalls.

It's funny how in real life I'm that guy who loves to debate proposed facts and chastises those who go straight to Google. "The human experience is about debate and discovery, friends!", I proclaim loudly while patting myself on my enlightened back. "Don't just find out the answer, figure out the answer!", I cry, gently tapping a spoon on the foreheads of those with their phones out. "You are devaluing the gift of intellect, de-evolving the human race. You're little more than a marmoset with access to Siri!", I ramble, as those around me take a cautious step back, looking at each other as the wise may do when watching a madman approach, wheeling a broken office chair with the entire VHS collection of Star Trek:TNG on top of it. Yet here, in the only world that matters, I giddily cite WoBs while ignoring the search, the context, the debate, the pursuit of bettermentness. Shame. Shame!

Fun facts. Rayse’s original name was Joseph. That’s why, just like every Fight Club scene has Starbucks in it, the original draft of Dragonsteel had a Joe in every scene. It was a political statement by Brandon. Y’know. Jo’ money, Jo’ problems. You can’t trust no Joe. Way of Kings Prime had one of the Heralds being named Joeoj (pronounced similar to George). It was foreshadowing for one of the Heralds being a traitor, a sleeper agent placed by Jodium. And the fact that you can’t trust no Joe. Brandon’s middle name is Joe. And we KNOW how that guy trolls us. Definitely can’t trust no Joe. (nb: none of the above are facts)

I fear my suggestion of The Notorious WoB won't be successful. Partly because I just thought of it.
