  1. It's assumed (confirmed?) to be Nazh, Khriss' secret agent man. The weapon seems to be some sort of Shade- based weapon from Threnody but I think that's speculation. I'm fascinated by it. Edit - This WoB doesn't prove it but that was pretty Nazhish stuff. A map. Being a sullen space-ninja.
  2. Breathtakingly good and cheaper than water
  3. I have been summoned!
  4. Now remember, if anyone's body starts breaking off cremlings, we gettahelloutta here.
  5. Whatever you end up calling it, I'm going to attend just to recruit new members for my Fight Club. Not that I'm saying I'm Calderis' Tyler Durden and I'm just Calderis' other personality logging on with an Australian VPN each night...
  6. His real name is Nazgul.
  7. worked for me with my crazy Roshar post
  8. This is the best. Definitely my favorite thing since @Roadwalker's genius of telling depressed people "Fleet kept running".
  9. I seem to have escaped this spiral, you're on your own @Calderis Think I'll start citing WoCs. Word of Calderis
  10. when I started on here 6 months ago so many older members were really active. I'm looking for it happening again with Oathbringer
  11. Yeah I really want to go there next time I'm in Melbourne, though they put in huge stadium-style seating and I've heard it's not very intimate any more. But I still must, fairy penguins (or, as I think of them, the Fae) are so sweet My girlfriend will love it either way, ain't no penguins in the Czech Republic!
  12. I'm from Perth but I've lived in Canberra for the last 10 years (well, the part of it I've been in Australia). But I was back there for 3 months late last year to spend time with family before moving back to Canberra (I'd been living in Prague), which was when I went to the zoo
  13. It's totally the indeterminable Peter Ahlstrom. Occasionally popping in to troll us. Telling us the bridge a Nahel-bonded Listener forms is a cultural one. That Dawnshards are obviously Honorblades. Disagreeing with Brandon on Shardblades cutting aluminum. Laughing and stroking a black cat. Classic Ookla.
  14. I've been passing them onto @StrikerEZ, something about cookies, noobs and evil I think.
  15. Yeah they're so perfect, I went to Iceland at the wrong time to see them but immediately booked the puffin excursion when I was on a cruise of the fjords. I mean, it's a toucan that catches fish. Too good. And I love how they all leave for migration on exactly the same day every year. Hehe and yeah pufflings is even better than the name for baby echidnas - puggles Edit - and I've attached a photo of a puggle. I was extraordinarily lucky to get up close with the first puggle born in Perth zoo in years, and 3 months before they publicly announced its existence
  16. @Sunbird one of my favourite travel moments was seeing several hundred thousand puffins in the Arctic Circle, off the Norwegian north coast. That was a Braize to photograph though – with a decent zoom you could be lucky enough to get a nicely framed shot but then you miss the awesomeness of an endless swarm of them. Wide angle, and all you can see is thousands of little black dots in the ocean. Below is the only remotely decent one I got. My point is…I love puffins.
  17. That VenDell one is so good @Pagerunner
  18. I love this question. My guess is it pre-dates Adonalsium because it seems that planets have their own special number naturally, independent of the Shard that invests there (nb it seems to me - we don't know for sure).
  19. When you let your girlfriend think there may be another woman because she asks to see what you're typing, and that's better than revealing the extent of your Cosmere addiction.
  20. I'm amazed noone has said it but I'm often alone on this- shadows for silence in the forests of hell. It is mind numbingly boring in my mind. The magic is boring. Every character is boring. There's no plot. Its the only Brandon book I actually dislike and find very hard to read. I think mostly because of the characters though. I mean, that's still by Brandon's standards. But I've been stunned at how many people love it.
  21. Great point maxal, faith can be even more powerful than actions
  22. I'd say the debt is paid, Kaladin did fight three Shardbearers with his bare hands to save Adolin but i really like this thinking too, them protecting each other in WoR was one of the most beautiful parts of the book. I'd love to see them as friends or, even better, two dudes Wii really don't match well but are steadfast and loyal to each other because ou'd their mutual values of protecting people with absolutely no fear for their own lives.
  23. @maxal I’m half way on this. Firstly, I too far prefer the UK cover. The US cover is interesting because it gives us actual kinda-spoilers, but the UK one is WAY cooler, she looks like a cool, calm bad-chull. In defence of the US cover, Jasnah’s strengths, other than her intellectual fearlessness, are her actual fearlessness and willingness to protect humanity. And yeah, while the pose and look is stylized, it’s still showing her protecting a city from a demon while looking like she’s way too cool to be scared. That’s the Jasnah I know and love. So I do think the cover shows far more than just her sexiness (and I do maintain her sexiness isn't in your face or superficial - it's a warrior-woman sexiness). But totally agree the UK one is more sophisticated. But then I hate the vast majority of covers, especially in the US market, for the vast majority of Sanderson books. Hate them. The in-book artwork and such is magnificent, but there just keeps being these cartoonish, WoT-style covers. Stormlight particularly is not a rusting cartoon, covers should be dark, moody and realistic, not like Saturday morning animations. Storming publishers. Luckily I read the e-books.
  24. Nah man I'm furiously agreeing with you. And i understand how disgusting and damaging to humanity racism has been, I understand the sensitivity about it. But all prejudice is bad and that's why Brandon is brilliant for inventing one as allegory for all the terrible forms that exist irl. I certainly didn't want to imply anyone shouldn't express their opinion though!
