  1. Oh, okay. I see what you're describing. I thought we were saying Kaladin would take over a second Sadeas right after the Thaylen City battle. Yeah, if it's a year later and Kal has to take over the title as Sadeas Highprince because they're being stupid, yeah, that would work. I actually really like that idea now.
  2. Wow. I was gonna make a post, but you basically read my mind and posted all my thoughts way more eloquently than I was going to. I would like to say, however, that I really don't like the idea of either Jasnah or Kaladin being in a romantic relationship. I don't think Jasnah would be in one because, from what we've seen of her so far, she reads as very asexual to me (though she could be in a romantic relationship, there just wouldn't be any sex). As for Kaladin, I think he still has lots of growing to do before he's ready for a romantic relationship.
  3. I'm just gonna preface this post by saying I hate the idea of Kaladin as Odium's Champion. Doing that goes against literally everything he stands for, and I would be very pissed if Brandon did that. Anyway, I think it'd be interesting to see how Kaladin would react if he became Highprince Sadeas. It'd probably just add unnecessary drama though. Plus, it would've been done right after the Thaylen City battle, so we wouldn't even really get to see the conflict of him accepting the title as Sadeas because of the one year skip between OB and book 4.
  4. Eh, I doubt it. I pretty much took the Nohadon Dream as something Dalinar's drunken mind came up with. Plus, Nohadon has probably been long dead for thousands of years, and I doubt he was able to become a Cognitive Shadow to stay alive that long.
  5. Um...I don't know why there is such a huge fuss about what the Tranquiline Halls are. Vorinism has the exact details wrong, but the humans fled from Ashyn (Tranquiline Halls) after they destroyed it, and Braize (Damnation) is just the planet that Odium is Invested in and the Fused and, presumably, other voidspren reside on in between Desolations. I'm pretty sure that the WoB @RShara posted makes it pretty clear that Ashyn is the Tranquiline Halls. Plus, the humans were the original Voidbringers, so that would explain why the Vorin religion says that the Voidbringers destroyed the Tranquiline Halls.
  6. The thing that bothers me the most about this whole issue is that some of you arguing for Shalladin are basically putting down the opinions of us arguing for Shadolin by implying that Shalladin has objective proof that it's gonna happen no matter what. I'd be open to a good discussion about this, but it seems like both sides have dug their heels in with their argument and aren't gonna change their minds.
  7. Dude, that part made me so excited. That's gonna be such an awesome story. Rysn is such a cool character, she just needs to be developed more and she could easily be my favorite. Plus, I'm like 90% sure she's being set up to be a Willshaper, so maybe we'll see that in her (relatively) short story.
  8. Eh, I think you misunderstood my point. I don't think that Brandon has no idea what he's doing with the relationship, I was just arguing against the idea you proposed that characters and relationships are planned from the very start to the very minute details (it's interesting to note that Brandon had never planned for Adolin to be as important as he is, but look at him now). The reason I don't like Shalladin is because the "obvious foreshadowing" you mentioned doesn't seem like foreshadowing for their future relationship to me but more as a way to show how Shallan was confused as to who she really wanted, and when she finally thought about it she decided she wanted Adolin. We're gonna have to agree to disagree here, because I don't see any chance of Shalladin happening and I really want to see Shadolin go through relationship struggles and come out stronger for it while you want Shadolin to fail and for Shalladin, the more stereotypical relationship (main female lead and main male lead get together after a rocky start to the relationship), to actually work out, which doesn't even seem likely anymore, considering Kal has decided that he didn't like her anyway. I will admit, there are definitely parallels between this love triangle and the one between Gavilar/Navani/Dalinar, but that doesn't mean they both have to end the same way.
  9. I'm gonna have to side with @Calderis here. I definitely do not think that there can ever be an objective answer to any questions involving relationships. Brandon has talked a lot about how he outlines the plots of his books, but he has also said that he tends to discovery write his characters. This usually ends up with him altering the plot to match the characters' personalities, no matter how far it drifts from the original outline. And I would be more than happy to have discussions about these relationships, but sadly that is not what these threads tend to become. They usually end up becoming arguments, because, as @Dreamstorm has said, relationships can be very subjective.
  10. Okay, again, I have no time to really answer this, but I will say that @Dreamstorm made a really good point I hadn't realized before. For me, I just feel like neither Shallan nor Kaladin are in any sort of state right now to get in a relationship with anyone, really. Maybe when they fix their own mental issues it could work out, but I definitely like Shallan/Adolin better. But that's just my opinion.
  11. I don't have too much time to go into super detail about this, but I vehemently disagree with about everything in this thread (no offense ). I do agree a divorce storyline would be very interesting to read (especially since Brandon's never done one before), and I'm not arguing on that point. I just don't buy that Shallan and Adolin won't work out. I've always really liked them as a couple, far more than Shallan and Kaladin. Shallan/Kaladin felt way too clichéd for me, so it just felt off (especially for a Sanderson book). And I think that Adolin is exactly what Shallan needs right now. She needs someone who isn't gonna praise her for her issues. Kaladin literally loves the fact that Shallan is able to hide away her problems, which actually is a terrible thing for Shallan right now. If they got together, it would just lead to a very toxic relationship where they each love the other person's mental issues, not the person themself. As for Shallan/Adolin, yes, their relationship will be tough. But I know that Brandon can show how, even when a couple gets the happily ever after marriage, there's are still problems the relationship has to face, and that will be a far better story to read in my opinion.
  12. I would like to bring up the fact that the magic that destroyed Ashyn is not Surgebinding, but it uses the same principles (Surges). Also, Brandon has said that Voidbinding doesn't have a one-to-one relationship with Surgebinding, so I find it highly unlikely that the Fused are using Voidbinding since their Surges are effectively the same as the normal Surges.
  13. Okay, this topic has officially made Willshapers my favorite order. Venli is already one of my favorite characters, so if what @Ookla the Variable described is true, then Willshapers (and, in turn, Venli) are storming amazing. I can't want to see Venli in action. Just imagine a Willshaper running around, molding the rock everywhere around them to trap enemies or make huge stone spikes and also teleporting around to avoid attacks. It's gonna be awesome if this is true. (Also makes me excited to see Stonewards too)
  14. Hey, I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to drop out of this game. I probably won't be playing for games for awhile.
  15. I'm signing up as Raljeen, an experienced thief who came to the city of Laesire after being to kicked out of his last city of residence for several probably false crimes.
  16. What if this aspect is just using the Royal We? Anyway, I'm not gonna hop in this argument because I agree with everything that has been said for both sides. I still like the idea that Autonomy is the author, but I'm kinda convinced that Ambition is the more likely the true author.
  17. I'd probably be a Lightweaver. I can lie to myself a lot of the time, and I'm very artistic because I love to make music. I'd prefer to be a Stoneward or Edgedancer based on powers alone, but I'd probably fit the Lightweavers better.
  18. Why are these so good?
  19. I'm actually really sorry about disappearing. I just wasn't super invested into this game, but that's no fault on your part, Wyrm. It was partly because school has been busy lately and partly because I have just been feeling really down and unmotivated lately. I tend to go inactive about halfway through most games for some reason, and I don't know why. I want to play the next couple games...but I dunno, I'm not in a very good place right now both mentally and in school. And I made All-Area and I really want to advance to All-State, so I don't really need very many distractions. We'll see if I can handle anymore games for awhile. Sorry for the tangent, but again, I feel bad for going inactive near the end. I wish there was some way we could make the games more enjoyable for everyone throughout the entire game, not just the beginning or the end.
  20. This is amazing. Absolutely amazing. I wish it was possible for you to make more pieces like this 100X faster.
  21. Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding then. It's hard to read sarcasm online.
  22. The Oathbringer spoiler policy at the stop of the screen, below the tabs for the news, forums, etc. specifies that [OB] needs to be on all of the topics in the Oathbringer spoiler board. Yes, that does happen occasionally, but there's a difference between that and encouraging it.
  23. @ZenBossanova First, could you please add [OB] to the front of the topic title? Also, the reason Voidbinding and Surgebinding are so similar is because of the same reason that Allomancy is similar to the rest of the Metallic Arts. It's a combination of the Shard(s)'s Investiture and the planet interacting, and in the case of Roshar, that manifests itself as the surges (but we know that the Surgebinding and Voidbinding abilities/orders do not match up perfectly). Also, a very popular theory is that the Fused are not using Voidbinding but are using Stormlight but hacked to be fueled with Voidlight. The Surges the Fused use feel too similar to the Surgebinding Surges to be Voidbinding.
  24. Hey, I know that Aethers are mentioned in OB, but any specifics from unpublished books shouldn't be discussed in this forum without spoilers around them. Please edit your post to put the stuff in spoilers.
  25. @bdoble97@Kered I feel like I should tag you guys to make sure you see this. EDIT: Whoops, you beat me to it.
