I definitely think SH should always go after BoM. Like, the little afterword that Brandon leaves at the end of BoM basically says that SH is meant to explain stuff that happens at the end of BoM. It doesn’t make sense to read SH first in that case. Plus, the shock factor of BoM’s ending is absolutely amazing, and I’d hate for people to not get to experience that. As for the full order, here’s what I’d recommend: Mistborn Era 1/Elantris Elantris/Mistborn Era 1 (either of these is a good starting place, but if you’re trying to turn them into a Sanderfan, more people like Mistborn than Elantris, statistically speaking, so you’re more likely to get them hooked with Mistborn first) Hope of Elantris (after Elantris) Eleventh Metal (after Era 1) Emperor’s Soul Alloy of Law Allomancer Jak Shadows of Self Bands of Mourning Shadows for Silence/White Sand/Sixth of the Dusk (these can kind of go anywhere before Warbreaker and SA) Warbreaker Way of Kings Words of Radiance Edgedancer Oathbringer

Just something I noticed while Re-reading Oathbringer
StrikerEZ replied to The Sovereign's topic in Stormlight Archive
@Invocation Here’s the relevant WoB: I guess it’s not explicitly weaker, but that’s how I interpret “not fully functional.” Whelp, @Scion of the Mists beat me to it. EDIT: or, well, my ipad just glitched, actually.- 9 replies

Just something I noticed while Re-reading Oathbringer
StrikerEZ replied to The Sovereign's topic in Stormlight Archive
@The Sovereign That’s actually been noticed multiple times before (I feel like there was a thread about this at some point in the past couple weeks, but I can’t remember for sure), but it’s still impressive that you figured it out for yourself! @Invocation That’s actually a good point. The only thing I can think of to explain it is that Hoid’s Lightweaving, since it’s a weaker version than the Surgebinding form, uses very little Investiture so the sand can’t absorb any of it to turn white.- 9 replies

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
StrikerEZ replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Dude, this is absolutely amazing. I wish I could give you all 20 of my daily upvotes. -
...........wait, is he talking about Sazed’s metalminds helping Sazed know how to fix the planet?

I spoilered this because it’s spoilers for Oathbringer and pretty long. This is just so good. I’ve read the book three times, and every time I read this part I get chills.

Sanderson Puzzlehunt: Earth Round
StrikerEZ replied to MetaTerminal's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I would assume just based on published Cosmere material, but I would bet the puzzles might require at least a basic background knowledge of WoBs. I would ask @MetaTerminal for clarification though.- 124 replies

@Onslaught You know, I can see where he’s coming from, but I really disagree with your mate. I think that the entirety of Era 1 was wrapped up so nicely, just everything fell into place so perfectly. That was kind of the point. And I don’t know how he can think the characters didn’t need to struggle, especially considering the two main leads died at the end of the series. He’s totally entitled to his opinion though.

The Ten Orders: How They do Everyday Things
StrikerEZ replied to little wheel's topic in Stormlight Archive
We actually only know 10, unless Brandon just revealed one and I didn’t hear about it. -
I agreed with most of your post, except for one minor thing. Pre-Catacendre, all Feruchemists were Full Feruchemists. There were no Ferrings until the Allomancy and Feruchemy genes started mixing together.

Well, a certain lovable sword is actually the ‘most powerful entity that is not a Shard.’ Though Rashek (or anyone with the Bands for that matter) is definitely the next most powerful.

Definitely read it. It’s his best non-Cosmere book, and it’s better than several Cosmere books, in my opinion.

What was the first Sanderson Cosmere book you read?
StrikerEZ replied to Mailnaise's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The first Sanderson book I read was Steelheart, and that was either 7th or 8th grade. After that, I read Firefight, and was disappointed to learn the Calamity wasn’t out yet. Then my school librarian pointed out that there was another book by this Sanderson guy in the library called the Rithmatist, which I read and loved. Then, I kind of forgot about him for awhile until Calamity finally came out, but I wasn’t able to read that for awhile because my public library didn’t get it for months after it came out. Once I was able to read it, (this was at some point in 2016, presumably the start of my sophomore year), I was like “cool” and forgot about Sanderson for awhile. Then, one day, I looked up stuff about Reckoners online (probably because my little brother and I used to roleplay stuff, and I tended to base my characters off of Epics, which probably made me think about Reckoners and want to see if there was a Fansite for it), and discovered the 17th Shard. At first, I basically just looked at the Reckoners section, but I finally made an introduction post asking about the Cosmere and what order I should read it in. The most common suggestion of where to start was Mistborn, so I checked it out (along with lots of other books I wanted to read) the next day. I didn’t read it for a couple weeks because I was scared of its size, and I only had the first book and wanted to read that book last out of the huge stack of books I had checked out. However, some of the other books looked boring in comparison, so I caved in and started reading it. I immediately got hooked and went and checked out WoA and HoA and read those really quickly (I probably finished Mistborn Era 1 either in February or March of 2017). I read the rest of the Cosmere throughout the course of the rest of the school year, but I really pushed off reading the Stormlight Archive because those books were massive. Once I finally read WoK, however, I was hooked. I read WoR over the course of about 3 days, and I even had to spend time practicing and performing for my State Solo Contest that weekend. Wow that was a lot longer than I meant it to be. -
There actually are dragons in the Cosmere.

To each their own, I guess. We’ll find out which of us is right (hopefully) in SA4!

Why didn't Odium trigger the everstorm before?
StrikerEZ replied to Luinedhel's topic in Stormlight Archive
Let me go grab the quotes. *time skip* And To me, this clearly says that the Everstorm wouldn’t have worked in previous Desolations because the Oathpact was in place, sending the Fused back to Braize once they died. But now that the Oathpact is weakened, the Everstorm can serve as a gateway for the Fused to hop back onto Roshar right after they die.- 34 replies

That WoB was from 2016, a whole year before OB was even released. Book canon always supersedes WoB canon, and I think the evidence in books definitely points more towards Adolin becoming a Radiant. The way the Cosmere works, Maya should not be able to be revived without a nahel bond forming between her and Adolin. As for Brandon surprising us, I’m sure the specifics of how and when Maya is revived and bonded will be a surprise, but I think it’s a guarantee that she’ll be revived.

Why didn't Odium trigger the everstorm before?
StrikerEZ replied to Luinedhel's topic in Stormlight Archive
When the Stormfather was talking about the weakness, he was specifically talking about it in the context of it holding the Fused back from coming to Roshar. And again, the Everstorm wouldn’t have been able to do what it does now in the past because the Fused used to go to Braize, while now they can just stay in the CR of Roshar- 34 replies

@WestTea You actually caught on to something that has been confirmed by Brandon himself. Felt is the same Felt from Mistborn that Elend uses as a spy to spy on Vin (I think that’s what Elend used him for). Besides that, Felt was involved in the atium trade through the perpendiculairty at the Pits of Hathsin. Felt has changed allegiances multiple times throughout the years as well. You can read more on his coppermind page or on arcanum.

StrikerEZ replied to Luinedhel's topic in Stormlight Archive
Basically, the Oathpact made it so that the Fused had to return back to Braize when they died on Roshar. Using the Everstorm before the Oathpact was weakened is pointless, because the Fused are never on Roshar when they die. The Everstorm serves as a gateway from the CR of Roshar to the PR (and as a way to restore the enslaved Singers), but there’s no point in using it if there are no Fused in the CR of Roshar to go through the gateway (or enslaved Singers to restore).- 34 replies

Rock and Cultivation's Perpendicularity
StrikerEZ replied to BrightnessSamantha's topic in Stormlight Archive
@BrightnessSamantha Personally, I think that most of the story of the creation of the Horneater Peaks is just the Unkalaki’s version of the creation story. And I don’t think there was any one spren that the Unkalaki asked for help, it was the gods of the ocean, trees, and mountains that they asked for help. I definitely think Cultivation made the Horneater Peaks the way they are, though I don’t think Rock’s weirdness with seeing spren is because he swam in the perpendicularity.- 11 replies
