  1. Satisfying? Maybe. We definitely wouldn't have gotten so many plotlines resolved in as much detail as they did, But I think it could have been done. As awesome as Sanderson's 3-book ending was, though? Definitely not.
  2. I was under the impression that Jordan had A Memory of Light all set out as book 12, and then Sanderson came on and was like, "there's no way I can fit this in one book; I'm gonna need three," so he split the story at the section breaks and expanded on each of them. Jordan was planning on 12 until the end.
  3. The original plan was 12, which feels like it was on purpose--12 books = 12 hours on a clock, a "wheel of time". Just like I don't think it's a coincidence that Stormlight is ten books long. They're nothing more than cool Easter eggs, but I appreciate the fact that Jordan tried to do something like that.
  4. (Wishful thinking, but) - The Doors of Stone, Patrick Rothfuss. We can always hope...
  5. 5e, with some homebrew stuff tacked on. We're also looking into getting a copy of Star Wars: Force and Destiny for are next long-running campaign, to shake things up a bit.
  6. Laeran Al'Elarin 5'4", Andoran, with dark brown hair and blue eyes, quiet and more cautious than most. Channeller and former member of the Black Tower, but he ran away during the initial stages of training after an incident with a bully. He doesn't know whether the Tower is still searching for him or not. Laeran has rudimentary control of weaves and is attempting to teach himself more complicated ones, but his favored weapon is a longbow. He keeps a dagger hidden in each boot for emergencies, and prefers to wear a leather jerkin over farmer's clothing for a small amount of protection. He also owns a wood pendant which he keeps on a cord around his neck, a parting gift from his childhood sweetheart from his home village, which he hasn't been back to in several years.
  7. I'd read Mistborn next--it's a great series, and the theoretical "backbone" of the Cosmere along with Stormlight and Dragonsteel.

    RACE!

I'm not quite sure about this, because we have F-zinc to enhance mental speed. Sazed's viewpoints about storing speed also don't seem like he's siphoning off mental power--he describes it as like moving through thick molasses, not as making himself clumsier or slower mentally.
  9. I have the ability to walk into conversations at the exact moment when things start sounding really weird out-of-context. Which, if you're walking into a conversation, means that everything sounds really weird. The annoying (and hilarious) part is that there's no way to turn it off... I can also somehow ignore people basically until they're shouting at me and/or right next to me trying to get my attention. Not consciously--when I get focused on things, it takes a lot to get me out of them.

    RACE!

I'm with the "depends on the racetrack" crowd, with the added condition of perfectly flat vs. not perfectly flat--steelrunners may be seriously impeded by sharp rocks, tree roots, and other tripping hazards, where as an Edgedancer could (if they have enough spare Stormlight for healing) hit those, fall on their face, and just keep sliding.
  11. Well...yes. Perhaps I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here.
  12. Ah well. Time to start searching, then!
  13. Awesome! So, when are we starting/is there an in-character thread yet?
  14. Hmm. Do we know if the Dakhor-monk magic system is end-negative? Off the top of my head, it seems like the most likely candidate.
  15. Hold on, there's a magic system hidden somewhere that we don't know about?
  16. ...uh-oh. Time to prepare for some true insanity...
  17. Welcome to the Shard! Glad to see that you worked up the Ambition to do something more than lurk--hope to see you around!
  18. I just finished it this morning, and it was awesome. I'm now anxiously awaiting my hold on The Wise Man's Fear...
  19. ...but it totally is! New theory: the Doctor is a sliver of the Shard of Time, the infamous "survival shard"--all Time wants to do is keep going. That's what gives the Doctor his regeneration powers.
  20. Read that as "Benny Hill" at first. Am now imagining the Joker running through the streets of Gotham to the tune of Yakety Sax.
  21. Ooh, I like that idea! Also, are we using a system for this? Is it freeform? Who is GMing, since Silverblade apparently isn't?
  22. Do we know if Sanderson's dragons can shapeshift? Because we have WoB that Honor and Cultivation were involved romantically, and lack of a human form for her could get...awkward, to say the least.
  23. Have you taken a look at the Cosmere Puns thread yet?
