  1. Welcome to the Shard! Don't eat the cookies; they'll Ruin your appetite. Hope to see you around!
  2. I expect that the term came from the Heralds, since there's a good chance they were Cosmere-aware. At the very least, they entered into a pact with Honor himself, who may have referred to himself as a Shard, and then the name stuck.
  3. I'd be interested in participating.
  4. The Eye of the World is very LotR-esque, which is actually what got me hooked in the first place, but Jordan deviates from that very quickly. I'd definitely say it's worth reading-- @Hemalurgic_Headshot has a great way of describing it. Act 4 was by far my favorite, then Acts 1 and 2. Act 3 was a struggle, particularly books 9 and 10, but the payoff for getting through them is amazing. The magic system gets explained more in-depth and the characters start growing apart from each other relatively fast, so I wouldn't worry about that too much just yet. If you're still not into it around book 5 or 6, you probably won't make it through Act 3 before you start to hate it. But if you are, it's definitely worth reading the entire thing to get to the end.
  5. Personally, I'd like to play in a Third Age-style game--Age of Legends sounds like it would quickly evolve into some sort of steampunk-esque genre, and that's not really the point of a Wheel of Time RPG. Also, I'm definitely interested in playing.
  6. It's projected to be fall 2018 as of right now.
  7. If you were to start one on this site, I'd definitely be interested in joining.
  8. Just going to point out that it's not a trilogy--there are 4 books in the Wax/Wayne era, although he's only written 3 so far. I got to the end of Bands of Mourning thinking it would be a trilogy, and was...elated, but also disappointed that the 4th wasn't out yet.
  9. i think there was something about being able to retain memories in your head and copy them to a coppermind at the same time. And since memories stored in a coppermind don't degrade over time, the end result is a near-perfect recollection of basically anything you want.
  10. A soft "pop!" sounds in the crisp winter air as a figure in a tattered blue-and-bronze cloak appears in the center of the hall. "Greetings," he says in a voice containing an undercurrent of poorly-hidden nervousness. He kneels and bows his head. "I am Exalted Dungeon Master, sometimes known as EDM. I have come to--" he looks up, startled by a sudden realization, then turns around so that he's properly facing Mistrunner's throne. Looking slightly embarrassed, he continues, "I have come to join the ranks of the Knights Awkward. Books before friends. 17th Shard before the real world. Release dates before birthdays." Nodding to himself, EDM rises and mutters something about not having chosen an order yet. He nods respectfully to the other members sitting in the guild hall (not that most of them notice; they're too busy reading) and sets off in search of a comfy chair where he can crack open a book in peace.
  11. To be fair, it's not really mine--I found it in the Cosmere Puns thread when I was still a lurker and was reminded of it when I realized that there hadn't been any puns yet.
  12. When asked what Truthwatchers do at the end of WoR, Renarin just says, "I see." So I'd guess that they do more of predicting and studying the future than preserving it.
  13. "You want to be like me? Really like me? then fight when you are beaten!" *pause* "SURVIVE!" ...what? Was that not the one you were expecting?
  14. Ah, there we go. Wouldn't be an introduction thread without one of those...
  15. You think so? 'Cos mere puns like the ones we have here aren't even close to the worst I've seen... (Wow, first pun in the thread! And it didn't even involve Ruin! )
  16. *laughs madly* "Would it stop, then? The noise in my head? Don't know what I'd be without that noise."
  17. I do both of these things, too...except the instrument I ghost-finger is a piano, not an oboe. Even though I haven't played piano seriously in almost a year now. Also, I'll randomly catch myself tapping the Master's four-drumbeat sequence when I'm not paying attention to what I'm doing. No other rhythms, just that one...
  18. Well, Truthwatchers and Edgedancers share Progression. Edgedancers cultivate plants, so maybe Truthwatchers raise children? Definitely not a bad thought, although Renarin is an outlier to that, which makes theorizing about it difficult.
  19. Ambition is splintered, though, right? In the Threnody system somewhere, which caused the Cognitive blockage that caused the shades?
  20. I always assumed that it had something to do with dying (and therefore Returning) together--the pairs of siblings were involved in the same cause, which got them both killed, and they were brought back by Endowment at the same time with similar purposes. But for all I know, that could be way off the mark.
  21. Unfortunately, as far as I know there's only one holy hand grenade, so we'd somehow have to gather all the rabbits in one spot before setting it off. (And make sure that King Arthur's not the one pulling the pin, but that's kind of a given.)
  22. "Did I tell you? Did you listen to me? Oh no, no, you knew better didn't you? No, it's just an ordinary rabbit, isn't it. The names you called me. Well, don't say I didn't tell you." -Tim the Enchanter
  23. There was also that one school where a kid got suspended for biting a Pop-Tart (I think?) into the shape of a gun and jokingly pointing it at someone. ...America's schools are weird. And dumb. It's...yeah.
  24. Occasionally, when he posts progress updates on major works on Reddit and such, he'll hang around and answer fans' questions for a little while.
