  1. So, Dalinar sees visions and hears voices no one else does. "Unite them" is being said in his head throughout the entire series, and he sees the vision of warmth at the end of WoR that is unexplained, and the vision of nohadon, although I think that one might have had more to do with his head than the spiritual realm. And that is what I think it is- the spiritual realm. In Roshar, we see all sorts of examples of various things in the spiritual realm affecting people- the thrill, the rhythms, the screams in Szeths and Dalinar's head. The voice that says "unite them" and the strange vision of warmth isn't the Stormfather. "Unite them" is something happening even before Dalinar bonds the stormfather, so it appears to be something related to Honor. So here's my thoughts. I think Unity is like... mini-Honor. Not the whole shard. But a significant piece of it. I also don't think Dalinar is directly Unity. I think it's the stormfather being the cognitive shadow of Honor, and starting to.... tap into that spirit web? That somehow the bond between Dalinar and Stormfather, because it is making the Stormfather more intelligent, is making them both more like Honor? This idea is sort of just starting to form in my head, so don't freak out too much. The warmth, I'm almost 100% that's Dalinar seeing a direct spiritual realm thing. I don't think its a particular being or anything. It's because Dalinar is drawing close to the spiritual realm. Being directly bonded to that much investiture, would absolutely bring you closer to the spiritual realm, and given the visions, it wouldn't be hard to imagine that Dalinar is sort of making... his own? Not really his own, but something like them, a simplistic one. I doubt that Dalinar is feeling like, the God Beyond. But it would make sense to be the spiritual realm. As for "Unite them," thats obviously something that came about because of the visions, because Gavilar heard it too. But it isn't the Stormfather himself, its the cognitive shadow of Honor. Or the remnants of the Spirit web of honor. So, that is my thoughts. I'm going to continue to think about my idea of honor's remnant being what is going on.
  2. oooh, interesting. The inkspren shadow was backwards? interesting. I had forgotten about that.
  3. I'll make a thread about it, and yes- of course its the spiritual realm. That's my realmatic specialty.
  4. The warmth and light... there are the visions of Dalinar and the voice that just don’t seem to make sense. I have an inkling of an idea, but only an inkling.
  5. I have this feeling that this will be Brandon’s first big media thing. A lot of things haven’t worked before, but somehow I feel like this will work. Not sure why. I totally get Pagerunner, though. The list of incomplete things keeps growing. I don’t feel strongly about getting more Rithmatist books or even Elantris, but... I worry sometimes that all these side projects will push the end of the cosmere off farther and farther.
  6. I've been thinking about this for a while, how spren behavior relates to their surges. This particularly comes to mind in how spren move and such, like with the difference between how Syl floats, Pattern glides across the floor, and Ulim sort of zaps across surfaces. So, here I am going to compile the spren, their surges, and the relationships in behavior, as well as some predictions for what other spren we haven't seen as much might behave like. Honorspren-Adhesion, Gravitation- Honorspren float, and can stick things together. They also can change shapes, although I'm not sure if that relates to the surges or not. Highspren- Gravitation, Division-Highspren also appear to float. They are smokey, and depending on whether the petals that appear when Szeth swears his third ideal are the highspren, might also be able to change shape. They also are smokey and somewhat indistinct. Described as rips in the sky. These are one of the spren we need to see more of. Ashspren-Division, Abrasion- We have not seen these at all in the physical realm. However, we have seen them in the Cognitive, and they lose ash off of themselves, but regrow. Spark is the name of Malata's spren, so it is possible that they look like a spark or flame, which would add to the idea of them looking indistinct, like highspren, which would relate to Division perhaps. Cultivationspren-Abrasion, progression- This one's pretty clear. Cultivationspren grow along their path, and seem to be tied to the ground entirely. This may relate to their surges of progression and abrasion specifically. Mirrorspren*-(me making up a name for them)- Progression, Illumination- They seem to be stuck on surfaces, and they seem to be an effect of light. This in particular is important, especially when looking at Glys... almost makes me wonder if they are some kind of crystal spren... We didn't see them in the cognitive realm, so there's still a lot we don't know, and we can't really use Glys to figure things out. Cryptics- Illumination, Transformation- This is the one that made me think about this, when in WoR, Shallan describes Pattern as almost being like a pattern of light on the floor... but not. This is interesting in context of truthwatcher spren pretty much being patterns of light on the floor. They are also black, and for transformation, seem to be limited to their shape, but can change their size. I think this relates to transformation. Inkspren- Transformation, Transportation- They look like ink over stone, and stay the same shape, but change size. I'm pretty sure the first is due to transportation for some reason, and the second is transformation. Not entirely sure why the coating would have anything to do with transportation, but the idea of a coating is the only connection I could make with Lightspren, and the changing size thing seems to be something Inkspren and Cryptics share. Lightspren- Transportation, Cohesion- They appear to be balls of light, comet spren. I imagine that that might surround a bronze core, given what we saw in the cognitive realm of reachers. As for cohesion... I have no idea. I also have no idea why they are able to float, according to their surges. Stonewardspren- We've seen practically nothing of these guys. Really, I have no idea. Godspren- they're weird, and don't fit any sort of pattern. They have a lot more investiture to them, so I'm not sure how much the surges are an effect on them as it is. Well, that didn't work as well as I wanted it to. The most important thing is that I'm almost certain there is more evidence to support this, because this is literally what spren are- the surges. The surges define how they can interact with the world, which is why syl can float and Pattern generally doesn't. If you have any more thoughts on how the surges are related to how spren interact with the world, it would be nice for you to share it.
  7. It's been bumped. Sadly. But, this is good for future cosmere things. which could work similarly.... maybe.....
  8. Graduating is the best feeling. I'm officially done with school as of today, and am graduating in 11 days. Congrats to you for surviving (and thank the almighty I survived too)
  9. Day Four: Inconceivable "A tragedy of the highest sort. A man with a mission, one man who wanted to right a wrong. Killed by iocaine powder from New Zealand. A true shame." Alvron frowned. "Why'd you have to kill off the spaniard? He's my favorite! I wanted to hear the 'You killed my father. Prepare to die' thing." "Sadly, life is not always a comedy. Don't worry, the giant is still alive," reassured Grandpa Steel. "I never liked the giant. He's scary," grumped Alvron. "Scary? What? That is legitimately inconceivable," Steel laughed. "Well, along with the Spaniard being dead, the Count had heard of a man named Indigo Montoya. Wanting to eliminate all possible threats to his life, he found the man in the castle." Alvron became wide eyed. "Ok, so what happened?" "Well, Indigo was not like his relative. He had not studied the sword, but instead studied the art of disguise and spying. He had been sneaking into places to find the Count for years, on his off time from being a pirate. On the upside, it meant that he was a lot better off than Inigo." "Hm, interesting." "Well, when Indigo found Inigo dead from poison, he was heartbroken. His relative, dead? Just like Inigo's father? Perhaps he could enact justice. For he, too, had heard the rumors of the 6 fingered Count being in the castle." "So, Indigo went looking for him, using his spy skills to sneak through the castle. He was so good, that in order for the count to find him, he ended up needing the Prince's help- for the Prince was a master hunter after all. But once they found him- he was in the Count's personal rooms by then- they snuck up behind indigo and gave him a good thump on the head. After that, the Count took him to his machine in the pit, where Indigo screamed 10 years of his life away- and then died. Mostly, of course." Alvron grimaced. "What a shame that nobody did anything about it. Now vengeance would never come upon the Count." "Indeed," Grandpa Steel said sadly. "The spirit of Inigo's father would forever drift, vengeance unfulfilled by his family." Devotary of Spontaneity is completely dead! They were the Spaniard. Cadmium Compounder was attacked! They are Mostly dead. Today's fashion is inconceivable! Whether in timing, or whatever, just make it funny and creative. The last one didn't work so well, and Alvron is still trouncing all of you. Furthermore, multiple people are at risk of dying of inactivity today. The turn is extended 24 hours, but if they do not respond by the end of the turn, they will be offed or replaced by a pinch hitter.
  10. Taln. I feel like I’m in a loop in this forum. Taln Taln Taln.
  11. An extension of the night by 24 hours would be good for me, because as aforementioned, I have seminary graduation tonight- which of course I am conducting. Randuir, that might work too. A day added to both would give enough time for everyone to come back. I like it. Does anyone have any issues with that?
  12. Ok, extension of the night, the next day? I assume you want an extension of the day, as days tend to be more productive
  13. In other GMing news, I have noticed that many players will be inactive for a few days. I am willing to consider pausing the game for a day or two, or extending a cycle, or just continuing with the people still available. It sounds like everyone will be back in a few days, so I would like to hear input. Also, apparently I’m in charge of Seminary graduation tonight at 7, so I will do my best regarding the new day.
  14. If Jasnah kills Taln, she is dead to me. Ash? Whatever. I don’t like having rivals for Talns affection.
  15. Uh, no. I’m not even willing to share Taln with Brandon. He has ALL the other characters. Talns mine. I was listening in WoR when Shallan is describing Taln... I might have repeated it multiple times... and I really need fanart of it....
  16. I have decided to make a small change to the rules. As it currently stands, the Max win condition is impossible to achieve. An important aspect of balancing this game was balancing Miracle Max, and I think I leaned too much towards nerfing them. Therefore, I am changing the OoA to have the creation of the pill go before the kill, and making the recovery time after being revived only a turn, rather than a cycle. I plan on discussing my thoughts on Miracle Max at length once the game is over. Thank you for putting up with me.
  17. This is my fault for not imposing standards on how PMs are labeled, which is part of why I messed up. Please, label all PMs as LG46"sender-receiver". This will help me keep them apart from GM PMs. Thank you for your cooperation.
  18. Steel has made an oopsie. Changes pending. I blame the multitude of PMs. Please, everyone make sure I say noted in your actions. Otherwise I am quite forgetful.
  19. Night Three: Naps Little Alv all snug in bed, starts to drift off but then raises his head; “Grandpa Steel, make them do something! They’re just standing around being boring.” Sadly, Grandpa Steel had nodded off as well. And that wasn't all. Many of the characters had decided to take naps. A few lethargically accused each other of things, but nobody really wanted to make the effort to really get on someone's case. Several pirates declared their intention to sleep through the next day or two. And with Grandpa Steel asleep, and half the characters asleep, the story hardly advanced at all. And then, someone tripped in the hall outside, waking Grandpa Steel up. "Captain Grumbleton and Polydactyl sat at a table. Polydactyl reached out, took 2 cups, and almost poured the iocaine poison into her own cup. But then, she changed her mind. She poured the poison into the other cup. Grumbleton reached out and grabbed his own cup, then suddenly switched. Polydactyl had no choice but to drink the cup she had just poisoned." "Meanwhile, Elenta was force-fed a miracle pill." Devotary(4): Randuir, Eternum, Doc12, StrawRanduir(4): CadCom, Dalinar, Devotary, SartStraw(1): FifthDoc12(1): JondesuFifth(1): Rathmaskal Eternum(1): Mr. Doctor Devotary has been lynched! They are mostly dead. Elbereth is alive!
  20. @Doc12 I keep missing your votes because you use this really dull red. Any chance you could use a brighter color?
