Most Overrated Character
Steeldancer replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Yes yes I know lol. Just playing devils advocate -
There is... a deconvert. A limited ability, but it can deconvert 1 or two players in a game. And I actually hadnt thought that out hrm. It might be smart to limit the convert though. Hadn't thought about that. However I believe that the role madness might be enough to counter every other cycle... I'll think it over and see if I can come up with a way to balance it. There is immunity (usually limited immunity) and role blocking and stuff. I don't want to share specifics because that would spoil half the fun. But perhaps I could be a little more liberal with the immunity... I'll think it over. Thanks for pointing that out.

Most Overrated Character
Steeldancer replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Hoid. Think about it. What has he actually DONE? Pretty much nothing that we've seen. He's taken a few things, gotten involved in some events... but nothing huge. I know he's uber important, but at the moment he just hasn't done much lol Don't get me wrong I love Hoid. Just proposing a different view on things -
I was thinking I would have suggested characters, and people can choose heroes that aren't on the list, pending my approval. I don't want to exclude lesser known characters just because they're lesser known. They can be fun too. Like Gwenpool or Moonknight (I actually have an interesting quirk for him thought up). Sort of like the CR for AG3?

I did it recently because I thought the the was superficial. Just Flash now. There are characters that are not allowed. Any reality bending characters (ahem Franklin Richards). Also I might decide to not allow a character, I'll be the final judge of all characters. But Captain America, Iron Man, Groot, Starlord, Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine, and all the classics are go to. Also they are first come first served. I do want to encourage creativity however. You miiiiight say I'm pretty familiar with even the most obscure heros. But if they don't choose wisely, they'll get a bad power set so. If the character is really obscure, they'll probably get a really simple power set. Classic characters have more complicated power sets, and some characters have limitations... In the end, I would make sure all the powers are balanced.

Ok so I've had another idea brewing for a while. I might have mentioned it at some point. But I think it would be an MR. The premise is this: the Skrulls are infilatrating the avengers! Players sign up as a Marvel superhero (only superheros. No villains or cosmic entities). I then give them their actual powerset, which is a secret. Superheros may have particular quirks and interactions with each other. Skrulls have an abduct and replace, an Avenger who is replaced by a Super-Skrull retains their abilities, but gains the outnumber normal avengers win condition, and gains access to the skrull document. I really think the public identity thing is fun. Everyone knows who you are, and can guess at your powers, but doesn't actually know them. I've developed some fun sets and quirks for characters I would expect to see. It would be called Secret Invasion.

And that ease of win condition fulfillment was an example of it being broken? Ok. Just never seen a broken game before. Thanks for the explanation. I'll probably take that into account for planning my own game....

Jonathan is the Water PowerKeeper, unusual in power because he is the Great Mage, the most powerful mage of that element in the history of the universe. So no. They are not the same person lol. The items are out because nothing like this ever happens. Usually. @Hemalurgic_Headshot @Tsidqiyah @CaptainRyan
-
Right. I knew that lol. Now did they know that? Did they know that they would last forever, crisscrossing Roshar? How did that make them feel?
-
ok. Why are the heralds still alive? They don't have their direct connection to Honor through their honorblades anymore. How have they lived this long?
-
little flash symbols. i draw them everywhere. yes i would draw little flash symbols and unleash them on you! MWAHHAHAHAHAH
-
I think it would be more likely that you'd be spiked by the needle itself. using the ink as a spike sounds... weird.
-
well they have life force that can be spiked. I would have to use a needle. A hemalurgic needle lol
-
hrm. never noticed that before. shade based technology? ill have to go reread that.
-
I would spike a shark or a platypus to gain its electric sense. then i would store than using a tinmind. yay! I would spike all sorts of animals in order to gain their weird senses and abilities. The strength of an ant! The heat sense of a snake! the ultraviolet vision of a bee! (although i honestly have no idea how to spike a bee. I assume it might be hard.)

spoiler alert: many times, brandon will use the words "the", "and," and "is".

This may just be my favorite character in my universe. Drake is a Sorcerer (a mage who uses Magic directly). Here is my original stuff. He has finished training with the PowerKeeper of Sorcery, and now has the option of becoming an actual apprentice, a role which could eventually lead to him becoming the PowerKeeper of Sorcery himself. But instead he chooses to refuse the offer, the first time in all of history that that has been done. Why? Because he believes that the PowerKeepers allow too much suffering in the universe. The PowerKeepers do not get involved in the minutae of life. They stay out of anything that does not effect the galaxy or the universe as a whole. Drake disagrees with this policy, and instead chooses to go rogue. Drake stormed out of the conference room. He was SICK and TIRED of those pompous lords, glutting on their power. Instead of helping the universe become a better place, they sat around and explored nonsense alternate universes and theorized about the nature of Magic. He passed several students scurrying to their training sessions. They were brainwashing all of them into becoming lazy and unhelpful. Something needed to be done. Something drastic. Incidentally, he walked into the Library. Lining the walls of the library were extremely powerful magical artifacts, just sitting there. They were basically never used; they were both too powerful for lesser mages, and redundant for the PowerKeepers, particularly Jonathan. His eyes were drawn to a sword on the wall. Excalibur, Sword of the Great Mage Merlin. Probably hadn't been used since the guy died over two thousand years ago. Drake narrowed his eyes. Merlin had been a Great Mage. How much power must have been placed into the sword by Merlin, who supposedly recreated the Ley Lines that gave the universe life. But... stealing was wrong. But was it truly stealing if it was never used? He carefully felt out on the Magical plane, and sure enough, there were protective spells designed to freeze him in place and sound an alarm if he tried to take it. Drake deftly reached out with his mind and changed the instructions on the spell, making it so the alarm would go off if it was on the stand. He grabbed the sword, and just as he lifted it, he pushed the changed spell into the stand that the sword had been upon. No alarm. He could still move. And the power from this sword was incredible. He stood in awe for just a moment too long, because then the librarian came in. The oldest apprentice was always made into the librarian. Her eyes bugged as she saw what Drake was holding. She put her hand against the wall, and activated the alarm spell laced into the wood. Drake wasted no time. He instantly drew upon the magic within the sword's gemstone, to create a transportation spell. But the PowerKeepers were already appearing. His master was furious "DRAKE HOW COU-" Suddenly Drake was in a darkness, able to breathe, but with no idea where he was. He reached out reflexively and reeled back in shock at the wall of spells that surrounded him. He had never felt anything like it. These were spells beyond the complexity that was even possible. They had so many subroutines and passways and backpaths that they were invincible to even the most powerful assault. Even his master could not have created this. Being smart, Drake was able to figure out who could have. "Merlin's home" he breathed. The sword must have transported him here when it sensed danger. This was a place that hadn't ever been found. He quickly wove a lightbringing spell, speaking a word of illumination. The ley lines responded, and a ball of light appeared, hovering centimeters above his hand. And he looked about in awe. Surrounding him was every spell- creating tool imaginable, especially featuring 7 massive gemstone tubs. Tubs designed for potion soaking to create particularly potent items. Wands, gems, and books were everywhere. And perfectly preserved! Merlin's spells must have protected them from the decay that came from time. Sending his light to the middle of the room, Drake discovered that he was in a cave of some sort. Well, now that he had betrayed the Powerkeepers, he needed a place to live. This would have to do. He saw a bed on the side of the cave, and walked over to it. Magical cushioning spells. Drake grinned. He would have to find a source of food, as it wasn't possible to transmute enough food to replenish the aura while using the aura. It was a negative trade, which would lead to his aura becoming weaker and weaker, until he died of starvation. But everything else- even water he sensed being magically guided through the walls- would be provided here. Hopefully, with the spells surrounding the cave, he would be safe from any who wished him harm. And so Drake laid down the sword, and collapsed on the bed. It had been a hectic conclusion to a crazy day. Tomorrow he would find food, and begin to read the books of Merlin. And, he could probably start creating some items. He had never had such potent baths available to him, and he had some items in mind that would make his crusade all the easier. Before he went to sleep, he considered. He had gone Rogue. Drake chuckled at that. He had become Rogue Mage. He ended the light spell, and fell asleep.

There, finally got around to putting the links in the original post. I should be creating one more thing today.

I enjoy strategy, and occasionally I come up with a character that I really enjoy RPing. Namely, Bracken the Pony, Barry Allen, and RIP Eobard Thawne (im a little miffed about that I died. I had grand plans for that character. Alas. Another game I guess.) But I'm not sure what exactly I prefer. I do not enjoy trolling. I stick to a certain honor code in my interactions, and for me, that is outside of it. I also am not a fan of any form of blackmail, that really irks me. But I'm not entirely sure what my favored play style is. I appear to enjoy analysis, however it hasn't really been all that succesful. I'm sort of playing it out and seeing. I would prefer a case by case basis, rather than a blanket ban.

Is this an agreement? Did I do something right (gets a little emotional)? It's hard to tell when everyone was being so hard on me

Well it kind of came with the fact that the neutrals were trolling, I was on the plate and the village was going to lose. So yeah. Stressful. You'll note I only talked once on Sunday because I was trying to take a breather. However I think Aman did an admirable job this game. I thought his play style and everything was fantastic. I'm a big @Amanuensis fan
