  1. The pen is mightier than the sword. The spike, too, as we found. The members of The Steel Inkwizishon are feared the world over for their ruthlessness. They are easily recognizable from their shaved heads, tattoos, and fountain pens where their eyes should be. They aren't the sort of person you'd like to meet in a dark alley, so it's probably better for you to join.
  2. When you see this and you look for your Oculator's lenses
  3. This debate is sort of meaningless. Brandon probably forgot all about it, okay? He said it was a sort of subconscious thing with Shallan being bi. As a conservative Christian, I accept the traditional understanding of marriage as being between a man and a woman, and this makes me prejudiced against people who are attracted to those of the same gender. I know this view is frowned upon by society, but I do better than most people do by admitting it. However, this prejudice makes me fairly ignorant about same-sex relationships, and I do not want a debate about LGB equality, but rather to continue the interesting discussion about Shallan's sexuality. If my below assumptions are entirely wrong, don't hesitate to tell me. If one of my siblings or friends was bisexual or homosexual (unlikely, but still possible) I would support them no matter what. I think it's cool that Shallan is bisexual. Homosexuals are seen a lot in other works of fiction, but the only other fictional bisexual person I can think of is that Dornish dude from Thrones (forgot his name). However, I don't see a Shallan/Jasnah sexual relationship developing, really. It seems more like some of the other male/female relationships that Brandon uses in his books, like Vin/Kelsier. Maybe it's just my prejudice clouding my vision. I personally see Jasnah as asexual (a love of airplanes, apples, and other things beginning with the letter A ). (Second paragraph was largely copied from Comatose's suggestion)
  4. Let's just take a moment to appreciate Brandon's pure AWESOMENESS in giving us these series so we can theorize like this. All this without killing off our favorite characters (well, except Elend, Vin, and Kelsier. Breeze survived, so that's okay).
  5. (Allomancy first) Tin-Zinc, Double Zinc, Steel-Iron Ideally, I'd find an embarrassing fact about Harmony's past and blackmail him into switching steel and iron's feruchemical powers. Then I'd go double steel.
  6. I dunno, maybe it was just a word Brandon thought sounded good?
  7. Brandon seems to like abiding by most laws of science, and IIRC metals always alloy happily. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm only thinking from a 2 year old high school background here!
  8. Um, doesn't old mate say in The Letter about shardholders becoming a shadow of themselves? He may have even used the exact words, Shadows of Self I'm not sure if this meaning applies however.

    Paalm's Spike

Chimerae sounds cooler. It's not correct, but waaaay cooler. Hmmm, if it's a God metal, perhaps it could be an Odium one? I seem to remember a WoB about Odium (forget his real name) knowing about Harmony, being concerned, and making plans. Miles worshipped Trell, and he seemed to hate everything.
  10. Eh what, I wasn't trying to avoid the swear filter. I didn't even know there was one. Sofa king is just one of the things I say. I'll change it however.
  11. The only one I really want to see is Charles Dance as Straff Venture Perfection would then be achieved.
  12. Seriously. How does he produce such excellent work over and over again?
  13. Just as a sidenote to this, whatcha all think about the possibility of using the wildcard properties of Atium to steal Surges or Breath? Just a thought.

    Hello Boyz

Just quietly, Darkness Ascendant's signature is much better done than yours Besides, the Assassins In Technicolor Clothing don't seem nearly as cool as the Steel Inquisition would be...so you better watch out, they might getcha! Also, I'm not touching anyone's cookies. I've seen what they do to people. Disguising a hemalurgic spike as a cookie ain't nice, y'know.
  15. Maybe he's just a bit confused about them himself when he's put on the spot, but it doesn't really seem like Brandon would do stuff like that - judging on his writing, he seems like the sort of person who'd remember almost everything.

    Mistborn Jokes

Ouch. Some of these are painful. I'll do my best... What have Marsh and Wax's coach-driver got in common? You should av-Hoid both of them. Why do Wax and Wayne get on so well? They both enjoy steeling things. What kandra is the best at imitating hands? Paalm. I'm sorry.
  17. Wow, there'a actually a metal called Harmonium? Is it in Bands? If so, don't say anything about it. Please. Thanks for clearing that other stuff up.
  18. Please excuse the title. I'm feeling dramatic today. It feels like an over-throwing governments kind of day, really. Anyway, down to business. The point I want to make is kind of intuitive, so it's hard to get across. The current theory of 16 ordinary metals and 2 God metals just doesn't wash with me. There is a precedent for it being wrong - in the days of the Final Empire, people believed there were only 10 metals. I think that there is no way there would be 2 'God metals' as well as 16 normal ones. It just doesn't seem simple, which goes against the grain of pretty much everything in Mistborn - there is sort of a precedent for simplicity. Of course, there's the powers of two theory, which may or may not have already been discussed - I joined this site only 15 minutes ago. I'll explain that to y'all - and likely get it blasted out of the water - some time. The other point is that all of the other metals are paired - which makes sense, given that Ruin and Preservation are opposites. Therefore, you would expect Atium and Lerasium to be opposites. They aren't. Whoops. Now, another thing to confuse y'all - if you've even made it this far: What should an alloy of Atium and Lerasium be called? Harmonium? Sazedium? Neither of these sounds good, which make me wish that Elend or Breeze was Harmony - Elendium and Breezium sound much better.
  19. So yeah, a big fan of Brandon here. I've read all of his books except Bands of Mourning and The Dark Talent. I can't really say anything about my favorite series - immediately after reading an Alcatraz book I'll decide I love pun-filled tales of Oculators breaking things, after a Reckoner's novel I'll have a sudden wish for more Epicness, after a Mistborn story I'll desire Coinshots chasing each other over rooftops, and so on. I used to pride myself on an above-average ability to make up downright awful puns. That is, until I started reading some of the other forum posts on here. *bows* I am not worthy! I also have a few theories, like everyone else, which I may test in the theorizing forum. However, I'll probably stay clear of those until I've finished Bands - I hate spoilers, as the person who spoiled the Red Wedding for me will attest to. Well, if he makes it out of hospital (not really). So yeah, that's me. *bows and exits*.
  20. Feeling your pain...between Allow and Shadows I found Brandon's blog article on the passing of Terry Pratchett. I looked him up, and devoured Discworld books like crazy.
