The theory that Dominion and Devotion were merged together is interesting. However, I don't think that line from the letter indicates anything either way. "That which they held" can be interpreted either way, as each individual holding a different item or all the individuals holding a single item together. To strongly interpret it as good evidence that there was a single shard veers towards confirmation bias. Also, regarding the initial theory, it seems good, although my only question is how two people held a single combined shard. Don't answer it, I'll post it in the original thread.

Here it is. I made it awhile ago, and I've gained considerable knowledge since then, so parts of it may need revising.

Trell is Odium - The Sign of the "Red Eyes"

Oh thanks for that. I'll fix my responses. Got confused because Pallonian Fire randomly pick up my thread of conversation.- 70 replies

I don't think Honor's power was directed to bind Odium initially, but rather it was the framework of his power forming the oathpact which snared him. I also don't think Honor planned to trap Odium, but took advantage of the fact after it occurred. The reason why is because it seems fairly likely that Odium is bound by the Oathpact, but we have WoB that the Oathpact only bound Odium as a side effect of its intended function, whatever that is, though I do have a theory. Whether Honor possibly invested more power to keep Odium imprisoned because of honourable intentions or self-preservation is something I am unsure about,

Trell is Odium - The Sign of the "Red Eyes"
Spoolofwhool replied to TheBlueShifting's topic in Cosmere Discussion
True, but Brandon's description of Minor Shardworlds seems to imply that Threnody was just created with some ambient investiture giving rise to shades. Also, in another one, he said that what is occurring on Threnody is non-shard based.- 70 replies

Ah, so you meant you thought that the original Threnody had a shard which Odium shattered. By apologies. I thought you were referring to the current Threnody.- 70 replies

What are the powers of today's Heralds?
Spoolofwhool replied to NeutroniumAlchemist's topic in Stormlight Archive
I believe that Squires only get basic stormlight augmentation abilities, not full surgebinding abilities. It's possible that Nale is using some other method to hold onto stormlight without having surgebinding abilities, since we never saw him surgebind. Also, when Lift said he was "awesome", is it possible she just meant that she felt that he was holding onto some form of kinetic investiture, not necessarily stormlight. It is a bit of stretch, but maybe he went to another world in the meantime and acquired the ability to use another manifestation of investiture, or simply got his hands on some biochromatic breaths. I doubt it, but I'm interested in seeing what other people think. -
There is a WoB on the matter. As you say, uncontrolled investiture is dangerous. In addition, the Dor is located within Shadesmar, so travel through the Selish region of Shadesmar is inhibited by it.

Trell is Odium - The Sign of the "Red Eyes"
Spoolofwhool replied to TheBlueShifting's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Threnody doesn't have a shard on it though. Even if Odium splintered a shard there, it would still be considered to have a shard. Therefore, we know that there are no shards on Threnody, splintered or unsplintered. Odium couldn't have splintered the shard then moved it, because he's unwilling to pick up another shard and risk corrupting his intent.- 70 replies

An over-arching storyline which starts when a person obtain a self-replicating energy particle capable of generating and manipulating energy at little cost. Using them, he became essentially immortal as he could use the particles to record his brain state, and directly manipulate molecular structures to preserve his body. The various stories I've conceptualized deal with the limited spread of this power throughout the world and the various problems which would occur as result of having a number of immortals appear within society, each with the same base powers of atomic manipulation. The issue was the base concept of the powers which are pretty much just an escapist idea. The amount of material I've come up with is a lot compared to my other ideas, but I'm trying hard to distance myself from it because it wouldn't make for a very good story in my opinion.

Not really. I believe both are aware of the nuances of all the metallic arts. When we're talking about fueling the metallic arts, we're referring to the shards directly using their investiture to empower a specific metallic art, like how Vin was able to draw directly on the mists for allomancy.

Probably the same way a mistling becomes a savant, which isn't quite human. They still possess physical, cognitive and spiritual and I'm sure regrowth would still work on them. In general, some twist of the spiritual which result in a physical twist.

How are you relating whatever rules apply to the manifestations of investiture of Roshar and one's ability to worldhop to Braize? Secondly, why would he want to go to Braize considering Odium is likely there? It's been indicated that he's afraid of Rayse, going there would likely not end well. Regarding the Heralds, there's a WoB that if they didn't return to Braize, another Desolation would begin prematurely. While this is more than likely related to the effects of the Oathpact, I don't see how it would restrict a non-involved from going to Braize since I doubt Braize itself is part of the Oathpact. The only reason it is important is because Odium is there, My theory on Hoid being on Roshar is that he wants to stop Rayse. If the first letter was written by him as strongly suspected, he considers Rayse to be a serious threat. As such, he arrived on Roshar just as the True Desolation was approaching in order to give a hand to those who could defeat. We've seen this happening, as he has been carefully encouraging the progress of Shallan and Kaladin, and discussing to some degree with Jasnah. We do know that at the same time, the amount he can do is restricted, which is why he hasn't done more to push them in the right direction.

To be fair though, if he were trying as the OP suggested, he could probably suppress all of his death-prevention abilities and just die.

First of all, the Heralds aren't staying dead, so they would be keeping their powers when they're resurrected. Secondly, that the KRs are fighting in the afterlife is a theory, not a confirmed fact, so we can't say for certain. For all we know, they might not be fighting while dead, but might actually be rapidly resurrected shortly following dead and sent to Braize where they can fight with their powers, like the Heralds. Or they might just be fighting as cognitive entities in the cognitive realm without powers. Personally, I don't ascribe to the "torment the dead KRs with more fighting" theory, so eh. The only other reference is Vorinism, but I don't find that to be entirely reliable. Overall, I don't really agree with this, since if he actually wanted to die in a particular way on Roshar, he would've done so already. Becoming the King's Wit just so that he can insult lighteyes with hopes that one of them will kill him is a lot more roundabout and, in my opinion, sillier, especially considering there is considerable motivation for a lighteyes to not kill him. If he really wanted to die to a lighteyes, I'm sure he would've just been able to manipulate one into dueling him, then manipulating the duel so that it becomes fatal. With lightweaving, that wouldn't be too hard. Carrying on, as others said, he would be dead and wouldn't have the considerable abilities he has spent time gaining, so I'm not seeing the benefits. I also doubt that the Tranquiline Halls or Damnation are anything special outside of Vorinism in Realmatic Theory, and he can already get to the Cognitive Realm.

Trell is Odium - The Sign of the "Red Eyes"
Spoolofwhool replied to TheBlueShifting's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This has been discussed before. While the red eyes and mist are a fair indication of odium's presence, there are too many unknowns to say for certain. The conclusion of SA part 1 and the Lost Metal will definitely advance the theory. Hard to say overall.- 70 replies

Likely occurrence, but if there are then splinters on Braize binding Odium, they would've been created as an addition to the Oathpact, not as part of its original creation. I'm more of the opinion that Honor created a widespread effect in the Greater Roshar System which caught Odium when he arrived and forced him to invest into Roshar.

What are the powers of today's Heralds?
Spoolofwhool replied to NeutroniumAlchemist's topic in Stormlight Archive
Not really. He seemed to believe that Knight Radiants would provoke the True Desolation, not surgebinding. I'm not saying Nale wasn't obsessive or insane, it's just that I think his motivations were clear-cut enough that he wouldn't allow a chance for the True Desolation to occur, and was preventing in the method he thought viable. -
What are the powers of today's Heralds?
Spoolofwhool replied to NeutroniumAlchemist's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is of course, assuming he is willing to be lenient enough in his obsession to allow that hypocrisy to exist in the first place. My opinion is that none of his Skybreakers were bonded to spren, else he would've found some reason to execute them in order to prevent the True Desolation as he believed. -
What did you do this Halloween?
Spoolofwhool replied to Datan Nomlibash's topic in General Discussion
Oh, it was easy. I went up to him, took a deep breath, and said in the most joyful tone possible... "Hello. Would you like to destroy some evil today?" Other than that, I wasn't dressed up. I didn't see many people dressed up at my university. Best one was a friend dressed up as Peter Pan, including a bag of "pixie dust".
