  1. Do you have a source on that? Because the best I've seen is a WoB that says that the Recreance was over 1000 years after the end of the Last Desolation.
  2. Possible. It bears some merit though I don't really see it as it still doesn't circumvent the problem of how an Unmade would be able to read the mind of a shard.
  3. The implication is that there is an alone in there. Otherwise, it would've been "Allomancy is of Preservation and Ruin," as feruchemy is described.
  4. True. There would also be the bonus of being able to measure the long term effects, if any, of someone whose emotions are magically changed repeatedly.
  5. Not all of the death rattle scenes are still unknown. I know of at least two which have occurred in the books already. There is no reason why this one can't have happened already either. In addition, I agree with Landis963's thought that it seems unlikely that the Unmade would be able to access the thoughts of a shard. Regular humans, surgebinders, or heralds, yes, not shards though. Are you suggesting though that the death rattles can have multiple meanings, one in conjunction to a scene within the books and one extending outside the series?
  6. That could work, though you would need to find some poor chull who would consent to having his emotions messed with all the time.
  7. My opinion is that all feruchemy routes itself through the spiritweb, which is composed of investiture. All attributes are encoded into the spiritweb, and when you store an attribute, the investiture for the metalmind charge is pulled from the spiritweb, diminishing that attribute. If you use Nightblood without another source of investiture, it consumes your spiritweb, which is investiture, along with your other spiritual components, which is investiture as well. It's not consuming the attributes exactly, save for the spiritual ones. I don't know how to explain the fact that they regain investiture, but it seems to me that there is a balancing force somewhere adding investiture to them to ensure they meet a status quo. I wouldn't be surprised if it is Preservation.
  8. He has the Royal Locks independent of being Returned. I can't now, but I know there's a WoB on Theoryland regarding it. I'll pull it in 8 hours if no one else does first.
  9. This is true. However, be aware that there is a difference between misleading and flat-out lying when asked to explain a mechanic. He does the former, not the latter, because the latter is a terrible way of dealing with fans. Unless you can suggest a way that "Allomancy is of Preservation" can be interpreted in sone other way which would mislead away from that, I don't see how it can be interpreted as misleading. This would be something your theory needs to sustain itself, else the base premise it stands on ceases to exist.
  10. I actually posited a quick theory on this during a moment of frenzied theorizing. Investiture composes the spiritual, but it is bound in all sorts of connections, creating difference entities. Further connections bind investiture into cognitive and physical aspects. However, what Nightblood does is sunder the connections of investiture, making it completely free, essentially annihilating entities, as has been described. However what you have left is unconnected investiture. It can't return to its source like most investiture, because it is no longer connected to a source. In this way, investiture isn't been destroyed, as Brandon has said cannot be done, but at the same time, Nightblood is removing usable investiture from the overall system, because it can no longer be retrieve, because there are no connections to it, from any other entity.
  11. Thank you. That's a better way of putting it than I did. Slight correction though. It's heat death, not head death. Universe doesn't have a head...
  12. Well, one, it has Brandon directly stating as a Word of God that allomancy is of Preservation, unless you would venture to say that he's directly lying to us, which doubt. Secondly, it explains away your argument in the first and second paragraph of why allomancy increases power, which doesn't follow preservation, when feruchemy would make more sense since it is an actual preservation of power. Yes, as per your original argument, it could just be that our widely held belief on the matter is wrong, but then you would also be arguing that Brandon is just lying to us. In addition, the WoB I posted explain why your mathematical reasoning is wrong. Preservation's intent towards the manifestations of investiture produced from his power deals only with the preservation of the user's power. It doesn't preserve the overall energy of the system because that's just the way it worked. So to re-explain the math: If X is someone's personal power, then Xa is always greater than X, where Xa is the power they possess while using allomancy. On the other hand, looking at feruchemy, a person's personal power is not preserved at every given moment. Xs, the power of the person during storage, is always less than X. Yes, their power is preserved over the entire range of time, but that's not what matters.
  13. Brandon has not been lying to us about Preservation and allomancy.
  14. Possibly. But 17th Shard isn't the only worldhopping organization out there, so the fact that the Ghostbloods can worldhop doesn't mean much with regards to their connection.
  15. True. Let's be honest, he probably did it so he could talk to another poor chull who had been swallowed for most of a year.
  16. I don't recall a single instance of Wax using a shotgun blast to push himself upwards. What I do recall him doing is either shooting the shotgun and pushing off the pellets using allomancy, or using the shotgun to push himself sideways while falling, in which case his weight ceases to become a factor, and his mass just impacts the momentum shift.
  17. The original text had Nale saying that he had a fabrial which healed him. The current text has Nale saying that he had manipulated the surge to heal him, likely the surge of regrowth, with an implication that he used a fabrial to do so.
  18. Inside are the symbols for the KR orders. Far right are the glyphs for numbers.
  19. I'm guessing prose things which shouldn't be discussed outside of its subforum.
  20. I agree that's it's probably not a possession theory. I'm more a fan of a new physical body being created for them every time.
  21. You can hide the second one. Select the options drop-down at the bottom of the post.
  22. This is really interesting. This, along with him saying that they're reborn, gives plenty of credence to the idea that they're returning in a new body every time.
  23. Part of the pantheon, part of the Bavadin.
  24. I see. There is the fact though that I've known her brother as long as I've known her and we're just as close. Also he was there in the loft when we were cuddling, though he suggested the shipping before it happened. Thanks for the advice. I'll think about it. It's hard though since I'm not a very emotional person and romance is something that's new to me. Plus, I don't get the chance to see her often since I'm at university, though I talk to her on facebook when I can. On a side note, what is with all the Ookla usernames now?
  25. This is interesting, especially since it has been implied that not even shards can talk to those who go to the Beyond, and that's where Vin went. Maybe he means right after her death?
