  1. They arent a problem yet. Besides, it's possible that playing that card will have some sort of cost, hindering the other plans. So he's holding onto it until they start getting in the way, if they do, then he'll drop them. Also, it probably wouldn't be easy to do unless they start grouping. That way, you just hit the main group, instead of dropping them one by one. I'm assuming the secret is some sort of truth that was hidden.
  2. True, a big difference. However, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that TLR did squash any easier methods of obtaining aluminum as that would've made it less rare, and therefore more likely to be discovered as allomantic. In any case, I still think the argument that they had to go into the Ashmounts for aluminum because their metallurgical skills aren't good isn't very strong. We've seen large cases of information manipulation and world manipulation so isn't stretch to say that aluminum had being and was being actively rendered more difficult to obtain. In addition, they were a fairly technologically advanced society before the Final Empire, nearly at steam power, and I don't see why TLR would remove metallurgical knowledge from the world when it's an important basis of his the society he created. There's not mention of them because they were hard to obtain and TLR probably squashed any knowledge of them.
  3. Yes, if they were doing so in a way that betrays their oaths. I'm sure their of ways to do so. An example I can think of off the top of my head is Skybreakers becoming total law followers like Nale is coupled with the introduction of unsavory laws. Upholding those corrupt laws would be them being corrupt while still maintaining their oaths.
  4. My opinion is that he performed a spiritual change in the Scadrians, making it easier for the specific changes to occur in the spiritual aspects such that they can access the power. That would therefore not actually be a change in allomancy at all, unlike what creating the ideals of the nahel bond would be. Also, as a personal suggestion, don't phrase theoretical things as fact, like you did with Nohadon being a bondsmith. I think it would lessen confusion. Anyhow, I still don't see anything which indicates that surgebinding was changed. It seems a lot more likely that he just created a set of operational rules and procedures for them to follow, if you take into account the terminology used as well.
  5. I have not heard this interpretation. I'm curious as to how it was reached. I was under the impression that quote is just saying he created the political and military structure that the Knight Radiants followed when they interacted with the various governments, and the limits of their authority. Your example doesn't exist as far as I recall as Sazed didn't restructure allomancy in any way, just simplified snapping. Also, nothing we've seen indicates that the oaths didn't exist from the start. Furthermore, the fact that the excerpt doesn't use the term oaths or ideals, which is a known terminology, then it seems fairly clear that the passage isn't referring to the ideals required to advance in powers. Also, where are you getting that Nohadon was a bondsmith? Nothing, as far as I can recall or find, indicates that. It may be that you're mistaking the fact that an excerpt referring to something breaking in and murdering his bondsmen.
  6. Not really. In fact, looking at our history of aluminum, it was harder to obtain than gold and silver at the time periods of the same technological level as the Final Empire. The first inexpensive process for deriving aluminum required electricity, which did not exist in Era 1. Therefore, it seems to me that the block was a technological problem, not a metallurgical problem. Nothing indicates that their metallurgy wasn't that good. Also, you're assuming that there was an easier method of obtaining aluminum. It's possible that TLR made already existing deposit inaccessible, while at the same time making the Ashmounts have the only accessibly source.
  7. I read somewhere else which says that this has been taken with skepticism in some communities. They're not convinced they actually obtained it, and that they're just misinterpreting something else that's there. Unfortunate if it is an error, but if it isn't, awesome.
  8. TenSoon explained it after she killed Zane. It's possible that they create blood, or at least tint whatever fluid is in their circulatory system red in order maintain the deception. Since as you say mistwraiths don't appear to have blood, it does seem more likely that they're tinting a fluid in them. I think they should have a circulatory system in any case, as the wouldn't be able to maintain themselves when impersonating otherwise.
  9. Do you have a link for that?
  10. I don't think so. It has been fairly strongly implied that Taravangian wrote it under the effect of enhanced intelligence of multiple types, not with actual foresight, which would be more indicative of Odium's influence. There are other reasons, but I'm not going to go into them because it will derail a thread. This has been debated before on a couple topics, I suggest checking them out.
  11. Two points, because you're addressing two concerns. First point: Shadesmar is created by the cognitive thoughts of people, but is also influenced by the cognitive aspect of the world, as far as I'm aware. That's why Scadrial's region and Roshar's region are different, because of the influence of the respective planets. Presumably all world-affiliated regions are different in some way, just as each world influences the manifestations of investiture which result in a different way. Second point: The spheres in the Roshar region are not spren, they're the cognitive aspect of physical objects, as you correctly identified. Once again, the difference is likely due to the influence of the world.
  12. More simply, the basics of splitting an atium shadow resides on changing present decisions based on future knowledge. Normally done using atium or electrum, Vin reacted to Zane's preemptive reaction to her attack as CalypsoDreaming said, thereby altering the future because Zane had knowledge of the future.
  13. Yes it was. TenSoon didn't replace him until Vin got the wolfhound.
  14. Actually, I don't think the Diagram wants the KR to come back at all. Another section does caution against a course of action as it could push those Nahel bonding to accept the bond further. Graves says so as well at the end of WoR, that they unintentionally pushed Kaladin to accept the Nahel Bond, and implied it was a mistake. Therefore, the secret is for when too many of them return, so that they can be removed before they are too disruptive. I think order refers to the general classification of those with a Nahel bond, which powers they possess and which type of spren they have bonded. It isn't referring to the structure organization that was subsequently created.
  15. I don't see how their inability to obtain aluminum from the ashmounts is an indicator of their metallurgy level. Diving into a volcano isn't something they do for all metals.
  16. Spren havent created manifestations of investiture, just enabled humans to use the ones currently in place. It is possible that new spren bond humans to give them new abilities. However, I don't think this is going to happen, since we've had all this setup for the 10 orders of the KR already. Furthermore, looking at the complete quote, you missed something important in your excerpt of it. I bolded the relevant part you missed. Since Taravangian says return, it seems likely that he think it's going to be the same orders as before reforming.
  17. First of all, I don't see any reason why the orb would have to be a Dawnshard. Spren can be caught in regular gemstones so that was probably what the KR was going to use. On the idea that they could be created, I don't think so. They're properly named objects, which implies that they are unique in some sense, and non-reproducible.
  18. It's not very canon though since it shows that they have spikes in the arms, which we know isn't the case.
  19. Fair enough. Moving back to Marsh, his limit is clearly nowhere near how far TLR has gotten since he doesn't possess anywhere near the same amount of atium, also his power is hemarlugically derived, from a reused spike I think. Since his atium allomancy would be considerably weaker than TLR, even with enough atium I don't think he would be lasting past two millennia, and one feels doubtful. Although, if it's correct that allomantic strength has to do with how quickly you burn your metals for the energy release, then his strength wouldn't actually be relevant until he approaches burning near to all the time.
  20. Possibly. It's hard to say, but my impression was that he was close to that limit. In any case, we don't actually know how much he compounded every day. He could've been compounding most of the time for all we know. That he was giving the kandra atium doesn't limit how much atium he had access to since he would've just taken it out of whatever atium he received before selling it to the nobles. In other words, he always received more atium than he would've even needed at a given point, and if need be, he could've just increased how much he got.
  21. Best thing would just be to put the comments related to SA in a spoiler.
  22. Not really, because the title makes it sound like you have spoilers for Bands of Mourning, when in fact you have spoilers for Stormlight Archives.
  23. Iyatil is of Southern Scadrian heritage. Great that you liked the book. Also, be careful when discussing details from other series in this subforum, especially ones which reveal the end of books.
  24. No colour would probably result in it not working at all.
  25. TLR made it a thousand years, so Marsh definitely has another seven hundred to go. However, I think it was stated or implied that TLR was approaching his limit, so even with enough atium, I don't think Marsh will reach his second millennia.
