I have recordings of his guest of honor panel (minus OB reading), his bonus art of World building panel, and my signing question.

At the Goh for Brandon come say hi if you're there. I'm at the left end of third row.
-
Maybe, but I don't believe that to be the case, and I think there's enough to indicate that Ishar didn't do that. I think the epigraph is referring to more external laws. Besides, if it is talking about the Immortal Words, what need would be there for Ishar to destroy them if they didn't follow them since they wouldn't have their powers anyways? I think there's also another WoB which talks about the oaths being part of the concepts which created the spren, but I'll check.

Yes, we know that the Heralds willing took up their duties. We don't know who initiated the idea though, so claiming that Honor asked people, like it is fact, incorrectly slants that theory.

Oops. WoB was different than what I thought it was. Will correct myself. I was thinking of the one Extesian posted.

I agree that the cycle of Desolations is not tied to the cycle of the moons for the reasons stated above. There's also another reason I'd like to add. Another Desolation would start immediately if the Heralds didn't leave Roshar. Unless this somehow modified the phases of the moon to cause another alignment, it seems fairly likely that's not the case.

I'm noticing two theoretical things which are being treated as fact, so I'm going to point them out so that people are aware of them. First, it is not verified fact that Honor asked the ten people to enter the Oathpact and become Heralds. While it is a likely possibility, my personal speculation is otherwise, and I haven't seen anything to support either of them strongly. Second, it is not verified fact that Ishar, in any way or suggestion, caused, chose, or incited the choosing of the Immortal Words which bind the KRs. Once again, possibility, but not really verified in any way. Personally, I think there's more to suggest otherwise. Regarding the main topic. I honestly see no reason to hate the Heralds so vehemently. First of all, as pointed out, they are mentally ill, and saying they should just "gotten over it" is, to me, a poor attitude to bear towards people with mental illness. Furthermore, I don't see why they are so terrible people for not continuing to lead the people of Roshar following the Aharietiam. They were broken people. While I agree that their call to abandon the Oathpact is a bit more questionable, I don't think they had an obligation to lead once they had. As stated, the people had the KR to lead though, and I doubt the Heralds could have foretold that the KRs were going to break down over time. Now while I don't hate them, I don't pity them either. They aren't victims of chance, they are victims are their own choices, made for reasons we don't even know about. They willingly picked up the burdens they have carried and are now carrying. I'm not discounting some pity to them in the future however, if it does turn out that they were tricked into abandoning the Oathpact, with the person who tricked them knowing they would degrade as they have.

From my understanding, the system Preservation set up had the Well refill every one thousand years so that the Hero of Ages could use that power to repair the world and reinforce Ruin's prison. This would continue until the true Hero of Ages appeared who would bear both shards. As such, I think there were previous Hero of Ages who ascended using the Well and did what was needed of them. I'll try to pull a source on why I think this later. Regarding the rest of the post, I don't think any of them somehow enhanced feruchemy. I think feruchemy has basically been always like how it was pre-TFE. (actually, there's something else I speculate on, but that's a bit outside the scope.)

sh spoilers Khriss's **sh spoiler** is from Sel
Spoolofwhool replied to Farnsworth's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We have no idea whether he's a worldhopper at the time of White Sand. As far as I know there is nothing to suggest that he is. Furthermore, how everyone else around him acts when they see his pistols makes it fairly likely that they know what they are, therefore not making it some artifact of another world he brought. -
Bondsmiths never had shards so this doesn't apply. Edit: WoB is only that they didn't have shardblades. No idea about plate.

edgedancer Ishar's Role in the Current State of Roshar
Spoolofwhool replied to Aoibheann's topic in Stormlight Archive
I would say Nale has an obsession with preventing another Desolation, even if the reason he's been told that another Desolation would happen is likely known to him to be wrong. He's still obsessed enough to latch on to any idea to prevent one. Shalash, we don't really have enough, but based on what has been seen, I guess it's some sort of self-deprecation or atonement. It's not about destroying the stuff, it's about the effort made to do so. Not really enough to say anything regarding Jezerien or Ishar. -

@Khyrindor What are you referring to when you say Elantrians can't use their powers in Teod, when Elantris directly shows Elantrians using the AonDor in Teod? In any case, I disagree with your assessment that the Dor only works in some locations because of the concentration of power there. I think the Dor permeates the Cognitive Realm in a generally constant fashion, and it's the connection to a certain location by the specific magics which create the limitation of power loss. In any case, here's a WoB of interest.
-
I think there's also a WoB that heredity for hemalurgically-added traits is a lot more unlikely than for regular traits as well. This points to the transplantation over splicing.

In response to the main question: Modifying the base aon will not alter the locations where the power is usable. The aon simply shows the fundamental location built into the magic, it does not define it. Regarding the power loss discussion: Personally I think that naturally, the different variations of the Selish manifestation of investiture all operate on a binary power level, surrounding a specific location. This specific location is centralized on the geographic shape in the symbology. In other words, while the basic symbol of the magic variation shows a location, the actual total location in which the magic can be used is larger than the shown location, with that location being the center of the total location. It is possible that the location is in fact the entire domain. Furthermore, when I say the system is binary, I mean that the power of the variation will be constant throughout the entire location it can be used. This is how Bloodsealing and Forgery seem to work outside of the showed location in their symbols without apparent diminishment of power. Now this is where you go, "But Spool, AonDor gets weaker with distance from Arelon, how can you say it's binary?" You're right, but as I said, the binary thing is the natural state. AonDor, however, is not operating under natural conditions. As shown in Elantris, the city of Elantris is a gigantic power booster, artificially raising the power of AonDor in Arelon. This power boost however does weaken over distance, resulting in the observed lessening power of AonDor, which is actually its return to the natural power level, had Elantris not existed. So overall, if you were to graph the power of normal variations of magic on Sel by region, you would observe a plateau over their location. If you were to graph AonDor, you would observe a spike over Elantris, which then decreases downwards as a function of distance until it reaches the boundaries of the location, at which point it drops to zero.

The Ars Arcanum of Way of Kings and Words of Radiance indicate that the prevailing theory is that a basic lashing operates by manipulating with a person's spiritual connection to the world they are on. Same with a reverse lashing.

Is this how Parshendi communicate with each other?
Spoolofwhool replied to Reborn radiant's topic in Stormlight Archive
Rlain was warform, not stormform. I think they're more attuned to the cognitive realm than humans by default, not because of the spren bond. Main reason is because of the line in the Listener song: I don't think the Listeners communicate by anything remotely close to what KRs are doing when they project their consciousness deep enough to actually view Shadesmar. None of the Listener viewpoints show anything like that. Therefore, even though that projection is more than likely a result of the nahel bond, I don't think it bears any weight towards the Listener ability being because of spren bonds. -
Hemalurgic Spikes And Communication
Spoolofwhool replied to Themasterhunter's question in Cosmere Q&A
An interesting idea. Probably the closest I think we've seen to this is Bleeder talking to spiked individuals. This could be potentially viable then, though I think that standard individuals do not have the ability to access to cracks in the spiritwebs that the spikes cause. -
I'll point out that Edgedancer did show that Lift is unaging. Furthermore, it seems like healing and regeneration cannot prevent aging, as they use the soul as a template and the soul knows how old you should be. Other methods are required to fool that. Regarding the main question, here's the closest I could find.

A little theory on Heleran
Spoolofwhool replied to Did Someone Say Kill Evil?'s topic in Cosmere Discussion
It's destruction on the molecular scale, which would still visibly be destruction. It's not the Surge of Annihilation. -
Age is a spiritual factor though. Your perception of thinking time is moving slower wouldn't change anything as your soul would still know your true age and have you reflect this.

I'll point out that he is incorrectly asserting seeing the future as voidbinding like it's a fact. That voidbinding sees the future is a Vorin construct, and considering their history with seeing the future, it's possible that they just invented that thought to give a reason why seeing the future should be avoided.

Trell being an unknown shard while the metal still being from a shard we were aware of that Trell gave to Bleeder is a speculation I've seen before. Basically, I don't think there's anything official which states that the metal Bleeder was using was of Trell.
