  2. Unfortunately that is not possible. Brandon has confirmed that radiants don't live forever.
  3. First, the next book is going to be split into two viewpoints. I think likley candidates are The other bit is that he released an original outline of the book. I found it really interesting that originally, Ironsides was very much a one dimensional character. Also, it appears that he added the book to the DF universe pretty late on in the book.

  5. Another subversion of a trope is the heist story - the book is built like a heist story, but in the end the atium wasn't the important part, and they didn't even find it.
  6. Especially the line about his hands.
  7. I think that it's close enough. What Toaster seemed to be saying is that an oppressed people can't be racist, and that's just plainly false.
  8. I agree that the system is definitley messed up, but at the same time, Kaladin is also a racist. He says that all lighteyes are bad multiple times, I specifically remember a scene in which he says so and Syl asks him if that is true any Dalinar as well. He bigrudgingly admits that's not true Ankur Dalinar. The fact that he likes Dalinar does not mean that he isn't a racist. Making mass statements like that is not ok, even if it were true about most of them.
  9. I doubt this theory, simply because it seems too complicated, and because it uses the surges in ways we haven't seen were possible. Another thing is, if what you say were true, wouldn't it also work to just use any combination of radiants that have these surges? How would transportation make a spren manifest in the physical realm? We haven't seen it used in that way before. Also, it's hard to use investiture on invested things. It would be very hard to shape the plate in the way you suggest. Another aspect you should consider is the narrative one. The moment we see shardplate will be dramatic and sudden, in order to maximize the payoff. That means a scene alike to Kaladin summoning Syl as a blade for the first time. Having it be a long and meticulous process won't work, because it's not dramatic enough.
  10. I can't speak for them, but I'm kind of similar in that I would really want the Edgedancer powers - regrowth for safety and to help others, and abrasion because I like I've skating and being able to do that everywhere sounds amazing. At the same time though, I like order and the Skybreakers definitley have that.
  11. But if there's an innate investiture in people, where does that investiture come from? Remember, investiture is never created.
  12. In the Cosmere, people seem to have something innatley different about them. That thing allows them to pick up shards, but it also makes them invested (i.e. can't Push metals in people's stomachs). I wonder what it is that makes them different from simply sapient things like spren and splinters.
  13. I have a mini theory that maybe at fifth ideal the radiants can get stormlight without any source. Idk why, it seems like a possibility to me, and a very useful power.
  14. It is like that in the Kindle version as well (English). I think you might be right.
  15. No, but what he is saying is that it's better use to use your extra investiture for lashing rather than for increasing your mass. Because of the fact that in the formula for kinetic energy, velocity is squared while mass is not, it is better to increase your velocity rather than your mass, if you want to maximize kinetic energy. Of course, this is assuming that you can choose where to invest your investiture. If that is not an option then yes, changing your mass so that when lashing, you run out of stormlight exactly when you reach your target would help increase your velocity, and therefore also your kinetic energy.

  17. I don't think anything about the plate Radiant wore was mentioned, other than the fact that it glowed garnet. We've seen three characters manifest plate, or something like it - Shallan, Jasnah, and Dalinar. All of them didn't ask any other radiants for help with Plate. That seems to signify that Plate doesn't require multiple radiants. We also see the windrunner in Dalinar's vision summoning it, and he didn't need any help. I think that pretty much eliminates the possibility that plate requires multiple radiants working together. As for it requiring surges, I think that your possible explanations are not very convincing. We have never seen surges being used on spren while they are in the physical realm, and we have also never seen them used on stormlight. That is because they are both heavily invested things, which will make the surges be weaker when used on them. You can't transform air into plate - that would mean you are creating investiture since plate is invested, but investiture is conserved so that's impossible. You can't make stormlight be alive - we have never seen regrowth used on non living things. As for it making the story better, I disagree. What this would do, if it were possible like you said, is add complexity to an already complex part of the story. There are no benefits - all it does is change the way plate is obtained by a bit. Why not just have stormlight condense around the radiant? Making Plate require surges doesn't make the moment more epic, it doesn't make the moment more consistent with the in world magic. If the addition is not beneficial at all then there's no point in adding it.
  18. The problem I have with this theory is that there's no proof supporting it. In that post, you talk about two things - Radiant having a shardplate, and the lesser spren that are attracted to radiants. The first point, imo, is moot because we have no proof that her shardplate was anything more than an illusion. The second point is true, but I see no reason that they would require surges to form the plate. There is also the fact that all plate looks and acts pretty much the same - that wouldn't be the case if different surges were used to create each plate. Essentially, all your theory does is take a relativley simple theory and make it more complex. In most cases, the simple answer is the correct one.
  19. I definitely like Skyward more. I really liked Spensa's character arc in Skyward, and I feel like her growth in Starsight was kind of weak. The fact that she actually believed that all these alien people are just a cover for the destructive nature of the Superiority seems ridiculous to me. Suspecting that the cleaner is a spy is logical, but thinking that everyone is evil? That is just too far fetched.
  20. I can't believe he's done this
  21. Do you mean in the context of feruchemy? I think that it probably has to do with fuelling allomabtic powers using feruchemy, since it's hemalurgic powers also have to do with granting abilities. Maybe that is how it is possible to fuel allomancy with feruchemy. Btw, sorry for necroing I didn't notice the date.
  22. I don't think that's how iron feruchemy works. When you change your weight, it conserves momentum, which means that your velocity would decrease as your mass increased. That was what Khriss was asking Wax about.
  23. That's the point. It doesn't feel like she lost because the characters we are seeing the world through don't feel that she lost.
  24. Dalinar might not have won, but the fact that he did much better than everyone expected, and the fact that he beat the parshendi, makes it feel like he did win. Jasnah might have suffered a defeat, but because of the fact that we don't get much viewpoints from her, and because she still showed her confident self to everyone else, it didn't feel like she lost.
  25. I don't think the heralds are that kind of mad. They all seem to have incorrect motives, but they use logic correctly from what I've seen.
