Not that I know of.

I've had that same thought about sideways lashings, and I eventually came to the conclusion that a Lashing takes a "fraction" of gravity and "flips" it into a new direction. Lash half of gravity up, and you have half up and half down, so no motion. Lash fully to the right, and you have all of your acceleration to the right and none downwards. But that's just my theory. I guess it depends on whether a Lashing is based on a set quantity of acceleration or relative to the gravity that the Lashing is made on. In other words, would a Lashing done on Scadrial (about the same gravity as us) flip gravity fully, or would it take a Lashing and a half to accomplish that result?

Two contradictory theories, both referencing acceleration and time? Time to bring in the physics calculations! If you Lashed an object 10 times, you would send it off at an acceleration of 10 times the force of gravity, or 98.1 meters per second squared. Translating this into force by using F=MxA and the mass of a US nickel (a perfect nickel is 0.005 kg), you get an applied force of only 0.4905 Newtons, which is about the same force as a roll of 10 nickels would exert on a table that they were sitting on. That's pretty sad, people. However, if this acceleration is regardless of weight, if you lashed a 2000 kg car at the same velocity, you would rack up a whopping 196,200 Newtons of force! But sadly, for normal coin sizes, the force of 10 Lashings is actually really small. Thanks for the idea! I'll look into that . . . Setting Lashings aside for a moment, let's consider the Duralumin Steelpush. We don't have any data on how much force or velocity is involved in one of these, BUT some quick googling tells me that even the bulkiest human bone (the femur) can only withstand 5,000 Newtons of vertical force. Since the effect of a Duralumin-ed metal appears to depend only on how much metal the allomancer has available, I'll consider the allomancer's body strength as our limiting factor in this push. Assuming our allomancer is burning pewter to bring his other bones up to the same standard as his Femur, that the allomancer has themself securely anchored by a non-allomantic means, and that the push takes place over a quarter-second while the Allomancer's reserves are depleted, this means that the Allomancer can exert on him/herself a maximum of 1,250 Newton-seconds of impulse before he crushes himself. Combining our two numbers, then, we learn that a Duralumin Steelpush has a limit of about 1,250 N-s on a coin before the allomancer crushes him/herself due to the reactionary force on him/her. To equal this impulse, the 0.4905 N of our ten lashings would have to be acting on the object for just over 2,500 seconds, or about 42 minutes, so unless our Radiant really overdid him/herself on the Stormlight breathing, than an impulse like that just would not be feasible. TL;DR: Unless your Radiant has more than 42 minutes of Stormlight in him/her, then the allomancer conveys much more impulse both immediately and over time.

@Haelbarde Rampant inactivity has been a problem of late, so I support your idea of a stringent filter. Last game of Hael's I think it was at 3:30 a.m. GMT, but I might be reading that convoluted clock wrong.

I think I'll hop in this game, seeing that the LG doesn't look like it'll be done for a while. Sign me up as Boris, a private investigator of sorts who tells his clients that he gave up alcohol years ago. He didn't. Despite his odious personality, he's actually pretty cunning, if you can convince him that the problem is worth his time to think about. I will be trying to do most of my analysis in this game in-character, because RP has been declining recently.

I believe Kelsier most fits the archetype of the Byronic hero, which is a dark, charismatic character who does "good" simply because it's the best option for them. Kelsier doesn't really want to kill TLR because TLR is a tyrant, rather, his motives are personal revenge for Mare's murder--which he blames on TLR--and greed. I really liked Kell's character, but I'm not going to pretend that he wasn't selfish. In a parallel universe he could have been an antagonist, and his actions/motives sometimes resemble those of an antagonist, but since Kelsier happened to be going up against TLR, the enemy of your enemy is your friend. TL;DR: Kelsier is a selfish man whose motives just happen to place him in the role of a protagonist.

I think he's either forgotten about the game or stopped caring. He tends to go inactive toward the ends of games. I'll tag him here (@Ookthelion III), and tell him irl that he is wanted in-thread. Why? Vote tally (unofficial): PK (2): Haelbarde, Len Polking (1): JUQ- 980 replies

That makes 2 people this cycle (plus Wilson previously) who have announced that they have elim reads on me. Can you guys show me the evidence that makes you read me that way so that I can address it? I want to prove myself to you all so that we can focus on someone who actually might be a good target for the lynch. That said, PK is worrying me. Remember last game with Sheep? I'm afraid this might be the same thing. As for right now, however, I'm keeping my vote on him.- 980 replies

@daniyah I too was a little intrigued by JUQ's statement, so I PM-ed JUQ the next night to ask him how he knew that. He didn't respond that night, but the night after he told me that he was trying to bait the elims into dying to a one-use, kill-the-attacker item he had by bluffing that he was a scanner. He used the item but nobody came, and he saw no use in not telling me after the fact (hence the cycle delay).- 980 replies

If that's right, all of those vials and that Lerasium suddenly make sense! That's got to be it. I can't think of anybody that's called him out so far, but now that I think about it he did go silent right after he nearly was lynched. That's suspicious enough for me to put a vote on him until he can give us a good explanation. PK @Paranoid King- 980 replies

I don't think so. I just ran a find command over my PDF of Warbreaker that I forgot that I had, and I came up with no matches for "biochromancy". *begin suspenseful music*- 980 replies

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Elenion replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I think this makes 6 elims (basing that off of a Nyali post from last cycle which said 5 as of then), so I'm suggesting that we go light on the exploration from here on out. We really don't want to make any more Traitors than we already have, and while I've got a few suspicions we still don't even have a single dead elim. What are everyone's thoughts on this word? To me it sounds like a mash-up of BioChroma and necromancy, but it could also be an Awakening term that I've just forgotten...- 980 replies

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Elenion replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
You're right that my read on him has reversed. For most of last cycle it appeared like a simple bandwagon v bandwagon. However, by the end of the cycle two things happened that aroused my suspicions: 1. Neither bandwagon dissolved. Village bandwagons tend to do that (at least in my experience), like the Bard-wagon in MR15, where Bard accrued 4 votes right at the start of the game and they all vanished by the end of the first cycle. Elim-led bandwagons, in my experience, tend to stick around longer because moving votes is suspicious. 2. Last-minute voting switches. Yes, I can see plenty of situations where last-minute vote switching would be a viable strategy for a villager, but the final lynch almost seemed arbitrary, decided by those who happened to be on at the time. I think it's more likely to get us another good item like Assassin had than another elim, but if we do get another elim then you can truly state that I contributed to the problem.- 980 replies

I wouldn't be surprised if Arinian turns out to be an elim. I am for lynching him next cycle, bar any major changes in game state. Also, I am exploring tonight, for anyone who is keeping track. I've explored every night so far.- 980 replies

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Elenion replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm pretty sure you think that my tone is off every game that we play together. I think that both Assassin and Arinian are village, and this lynch between them is a just bandwagoning war. Then again, the sudden voting surge against Arinian as soon as Assassin was suspected made me a little suspicious, but that alone isn't enough for me to want a lynch on Burgundy. The Ookthelion lynch has died down (although I wish that it hadn't), so I'll throw a vote on Nathan to give us an option other than the bandwagoning war.- 980 replies

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Elenion replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ummm... @Elbereth, Rae is dead and village. It's great to see more discussion all of a sudden. Let's keep this up! I don't really have a good or bad read on Aralis, Arinian, or Straw. Arinian is voting similar to how I vote, so I can't really find anything to be concerned about there. Aralis I haven't found much either way. Straw is mostly inactive. @Ookthelion III, I don't think there's a single player here that would claim to you right now. Or to me either, for that matter. There are too many unknowns now for that sort of thing.- 980 replies

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Elenion replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
To preserve the flow of the game, I've switched my username back to usual. Guys, we need more lynch discussion. More votes. We're falling into a trap of inactivity where all the traitors have to do is kill off actives and then have virtual control over the lynch while still being a minority of the players. Even if you don't think you have much to contribute, please at least check in and vote on the player that you think is most suspicious.- 980 replies

Well, I don't have anywhere near as much time as I hoped to have tonight. Still, I'll put in my suspicions and vote before I go to bed. When you put your vote down on Rae, you said nothing about agreeing with the case against her. Instead, you brought up what she did to you and the rest of GoH back in LG26. This and your assumptions in the second bullet sound to me like you're covering for your vote after the fact. Ecthelion III -Len- 980 replies
