  1. @Rebecca I forgot to mention earlier, but I spent about 4 years in Rexburg going to the university there. I wasn't a fan of the weather, but I have many fond memories of my time spent in your state.
  2. Did you ever finish Aether of the Night?
  3. @StrikerEZ It also goes along perfectly with Khriss' assessment in her notes of the Taldain system, "Autonomy's policy of isolationism in recent times (in direct contrast to her interference with other planets, I might add)...
  4. I had not heard that. I really like this idea. Thanks!
  5. Your right of course. I can't pass it off as fact. My personal idea that there is a force that is using "Trell" as a mask or a disguise, but it has nothing to do with the religion mentioned in the original trilogy. I think it could be another shard holder?
  6. I assumed it was one and the same bc in the epilogue of Bands of Mourning Marise was devoting herself to researching Trell right before the prison scene with Mr. Suit. You are right it has not been confirmed they are the same, but I believe there is evidence that points towards that conclusion.
  7. It seems like Marsh has is own agenda (currently in the south pole) and only works with Harmony when he feels like it (based on his conversation with Marise at the end of Alloy of Law). Also, as Harmony has noted in Bands of Mourning, most of his resources are devoted to stopping that force that is going under the name of Trell.
  8. Thank you for the information! With this knowledge I will power through and finish on my next attempt. Honestly on my latest try, where I got to around pg 200, it got better but did not surpass ok and I got distracted by another book.
  9. You could start Wheel of Time (Brandon wrote the last three) Personally I had my problems with the series (stopped at book 9 or 10), but they might not be issue for you. Many here love the series and I always recommend that people at least try it.
  10. It reminds me a lot of Gene Wolf where it the prose seems flowery and the writing obscure. There also doesn't seem to be very much dialogue which I want more of. I cannot connect to any of the characters. I keep on trying bc looking at the plot summary, and hearing other people talk about it, it seems right up my alley. Edit: many malazan fans are puzzled why I do not like the series. The difference with me is that while there are parts that are hard to get through on the first read there is always at least one storyline that propels me through the book (this is the same with other difficult books). I can't catch a similar thread with this series.
  11. Sorry to hear about what happened; one of these days I will finish at least The Darkness that comes Before. Whenever I share my tastes in books people are shocked I don't love Bakkers's works. The thing is I have started it four times and the farthest I have gotten is pg 200 or so. I feel a little like Don Quixote tilting at windmills, but I will keep on trying. Kudos to you for trying to drum up support for what appears to be your favorite author. I hope he writes that extra book in the series that is up in the air for the moment.
  12. So I am now a weather man...yeah me? Should I now celebrate by watching the movie The Weather Man starring Nicholas Cage?
  13. So here is a link. To my knowledge it is fully up to date: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandon_Sanderson_bibliography
  14. What if Hoid was on....wait a second! Seriously though Galladon would make a good Terrisman.
  15. I know. I felt kind of like a lighteye owning a copy and looking down upon everyone on the shard that wasn't worthy enough to have their own
  16. StrikerEz covered everything so well, and I agree with everything he said, I don't have much to add besides hi! Warbreaker has one of my favorite characters with Lightsong the bold. Elantris definitely has its flaws, but it was my first Sanderson book and is kind of a like a adorable mutt that you love and look past any problems.
  17. Welcome! Sounds like you will fit in fine! If you are interested in some non-Sanderson fantasy books send me a private message. If not that's fine too! Steelers fan I presume? I follow the broncos myself.
  18. Who knows? You may end up enjoying it so much that Stormlight will be the series to read while waiting for the next malazan book..
  19. @Madness It's strange seeing you outside the westeros forum. Hope you stick around and catch the Sanderson fever!
  20. Nice! Welcome!
  21. It's the fourth post down:
  22. A little background for this mime. This is a slow year for Sanderson in that we "only" get three stories this year: Oathbringer, Snapshot, and White Sand #2. I also don't know if Sanderson is my personal favorite author bc it changes so frequently (I do own and have read everything he has written besides Alcatraz and e-only stories)
  23. When you are such a big Sanderson fan that, ten minutes after you make a pronouncement of abandoning the shard, you post in the Uses of Hemalurgy thread.
