  1. Would there be interest for people to put up one (or more if you want) recipes that are your favorite or what you are known for. I am not much for cooking, but I make really good salsa and thats my thing. I don't want to share a great recipe like that if there is no interest in this project so if I can get at least three other people that are willing to participate I will share the goods (you don't even have to post first just say you are willing to post them when you have a moment). I think it would be a lot of fun!
  2. To make a long story short something came up recently where I knew that no one else was going to try to fix a particular problem. The first thing that came to my mind was, "Honor is dead, but I'll see what I can do." So I jumped in and tried to fix the problem. Luckily everything worked out afterwards!

    A strong start!
  4. The biggest one for me was in Words of Radiance and I think it was only a plot twist bc of other books I have read. Let me explain
  5. I'm not sure what tabletop miniature games are, but I like these games: Ticket to Ride, Forbidden Desert, Pandemic, and Splendor
  6. The stick is needed to roast marshmallows and make s'mores. All hail the noble stick!
  7. I think the real issue is that they read too little
  8. Sorry to hear that. The only thing I can offer is my life motto when it comes to volunteering and doing someone a favor (out of the goodness of my heart) which is, "If you do not like the speed or the way in which I do things than you can do it yourself!" Sorry you are having a rough time of it. Hope it improves!
  9. Teaching others is a unique skill set that not everyone has. Sounds like it wasn't clear what the expectations are and the methods that should be used. Is there someone else that could explain it to you? Best of luck!
  10. Even if there are some negative reviews on something if the plot sounds like something you would like then give it a chance. Make up your own mind about it. There will always be negative reviews on any item.
  11. No worries I put out wrong information and appreciate the correction! I think it speaks to the skill of the writer that he can speak to so many people. Some of my favorite characters are some peoples least and vice versa.
  12. @Extesian When I first read WoR I really didn't think anything about stick. I only realized he had a cult following when I joined the shard @StormyQueen Finally someone that agrees with me about Lift! I just find it really hard to relate to her bc I have never been a 12 year old girl and she comes off as very silly and immature in my opinion. I hope she changes as the series progresses.
  13. If it makes any difference it's the same spoiler policy as here. If you are on Toll the Hounds it's assumed you have read books 1-7, but they will spoiler tag the last two books or, more likely, tell you rafo. Of course there is always the chance someone might forget that policy. There are definitely some interesting people over there and most of them are nice. It's where you find the malazan gurus that understand this series more than I can ever hope to. I have my own reasons for not returning over there though, but would always tell someone to sign up. I like over here best. Even though it's a younger crowd it's more upbeat and friendly in my opinion.
  14. You are offended when the following happens: someone recommends you read King's Dark Tower series; you politely thank them for the recommend and counter with Sanderson. They respond, "I've never heard of him." They have also never heard of Scott Lynch or Patrick Rothfuss. Yes, that really did happen today.
  15. This will actually be the first Stormlight book I will read all the way through. I have read parts of the story and like to browse the pictures of my physical copy. I use the term "read" synonymously with "listening" and realize that may be confusing for people and should of made that more clear in my pole. Krammer and Reading do a great job presenting the Stormlight Archive story.
  16. Do you use the earbuds that are a small cyclinder that you have to put in your ear? It seals off the outside world and works better tham the ones that rest against the eat. This is what I use: https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-RP-HJE120-PPK-In-Ear-Headphone-Black/dp/B003EM8008/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1501281235&sr=8-3&keywords=Earbud
  17. I always have a audiobook for exercise and driving (currently on Words of Radiance) A normal book (currently To Green Angel Tower) A short story collection bc I can't start a regular book on the same day I finish one so I read short stories for the rest of the day. Don't ask me explain (currently Songs of a Dying Earth). My third time through the malazan series is very casual. I am reading one book/part that is within every book every month (if that makes sense)
  18. Very nice! Does Norway (I think thats where you're from) sell both U.S. and U.K versions of Sanderson's books?
  19. I am shocked by how popular the 50 shades of Grey franchinse is. Also surprised about Seinfeld and Twilight. On the flip side I am surprised the Instrumentalities of the Night book series by Glen Cook did not sell well. It is really good, but the publishers will not allow a fifth book due to poor sales. I think it may be partly due to the first fify pages of the first book (which is difficult to get through). Also surprised by the lack of success of the author Paul Kearney (very good author of Monarchies of God and Macht trilogies) I am also surprised by the lack of success of the John Carter of Mars film. I thought it was a fun movie.
  20. Its in my harcover section of the first post. The hardcover section can only be seen in the shot of the entire library.
  21. Concerning stick: I used to hate him, but I have learned just to embrace the absolute absurdity of it.
  22. @Sami It's a problem amongst malazan fans trying to explain this series. There is just so much going on. My explanation isn't very good but I say something along the lines of, "It's about the expansion of a empire and the problems that it brings. It's a story about Gods (some free some bound), magic, and all sorts of different mortals. It takes place over several continents, timelines and has hundreds if not upwards of a thousand characters.
  23. Yep! There are a few of of us here that love it. @AngelEy3 @Briar King@KnightofLight come to mind. We had a recent thread about it in the entertainment section. We also discuss it frequently in the what are you reading section. I've personally read the 10 books twice. If you want to get unto the ground floor of a amazing series. Try Forgetting Moon by Durfee. Only the first of five is out, but it blew me away. Welcome! Glad to have you here!
