Sounds a lot like Death Eaters....

I think that 15 minutes a day to pray/meditate is a great idea no matter your beliefs. I would not recommend embracing Sliverism and Trellismn though...

He said that the now shards that opposed him was "a force" not "the force". You could be right though. Lots of ways to interpret his quote.

So here is some food for thought regarding if Odium is the the main villian of the cosmere: QUESTION Was the shattering of Adonalsium done, for the forces to attack the Anti-Adonalsium? BRANDON SANDERSON Youâre focusing too much on the idea of the anti-adonalsium. What was really asked is âis there a force that opposes Adonalsiumâ and it left me a lot of wiggle room. In other words, the people who killed it was a force, or any person who opposed Adonalsium you could say is a force. What they were trying to get was a âdevilâ but that assumes Adonalsium is a more Christian-style God, and I have not confirmed any of that. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=1153 What I gather from this is there are forces that oppose Adolnalsium out there and not to make the assumption that Adolnalsium is the equivalent of a Judeo-Christian God. Perhaps one of the opposing forces will be the main antagonist?

Interesting idea. Sounds as good as any at this point. I think he will follow in the footsteps of Robert Jordan's series and Odium will be bounded again at the end of book 10. I think early on in book 6 he will be free of his prison on Braize, and will cause all sorts of problems until the last book.

I think your biggest worry is him keeping it to three books. He has kind of a reputation of the third book becoming too big and having to split it so its really a four book series. Last I heard he is closing in on completing the first draft of book 2. He has completed over 600 pgs of it (I think he means it will be 600pgs if printed the same as the Witchwood crown, but I am not sure about that). BTW @Left I am new to Tad Williams what would you recommend after I read his Memory, Sorrow, Thorn books (currently on Stone of Farewell)? I was thinking either Shadowmarch or Otherland...

Sometime next year. It will be the next thing he writes after Apocalypse Guard.

I think its a great idea! I would take part in it. Perhaps have a sticky thread title for each "part"for the first month and then merge them together into one afterwards?

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

Your pick up line is, "I could stare at those clouds* all day"(until you say it to another Sanderson fan and get slapped) *Ch. 12 Alloy of Law -
@The One Who Connects Many thanks! It is such a small thing, but the question kept spinning around in my head driving me crazy! What you said makes perfect sense.
-
So I was relistening to Alloy of Law and on the way to the Vanisher hideout in ch 10 Marasi says, "That will tell us if this place is really a hideout, or if Wayne's source was trying to lead us to a bad alloy." So unless I wasn't paying attention while listening (always a possibility) "alloy" up until now has always meant a mixture of metals. Is it also a slang term for "intel" or "source"? What exactly does alloy mean in this instance?

@Kingsdaughter613No worries! Honestly the credit goes to the folks that upkeep the coppermind. I just looked up Marsh and clicked on the annotation to the primary source

PROFESSIONALLURKER Where's Marsh? BRANDON SANDERSON (PARAPHRASED) Investigating the Southern Continent of Scadrial http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=1092#3

@Kered Yes! Thank you!
-
@Kered Thanks, but that is not the one I meant. From what I remember Brandon expressed a fear of it becoming like a Avengers movie and right afterwards said, "but that's a problem for another day" or something to that effect. I can't for the life of me remember where I heard it. I think I was browsing the coppermind and clicked on one of the notes for the original source.

I certainly don't have enough faith in my own idea to get defensive and try to defend my idea, but Brandon has said the Stormlight Archives would feature the most Cosmere of any of his series and would be prominent as the series progresses. One of the worries he has is his series becomming like a "Avengers Movie" (and no I dont have a link to a w.o.b to back that up ). I am not the Sharder that comes up with elaborate ideas based on hard evidence (thats more @Calderis@Pagerunner and several other peoples thing). I just think of cool ideas and throw it against the wall and to see what sticks. Edit: Also thanks for the unmade tip. I looked them up and the seem very interesting.

We really don't have much information on him. All we have is in the 54th chapter of both Way of Kings and Words of Radiance. Honestly the evidence for my idea is kind of flimsy, but Mraize refers to Tezim as: different, probably non-human, and certainly not of the local species. Tezim trying to take the city that isnt his also seems like a very agressive act. I immediately thought of Dakhor monk for some reason, but to my knowledge I am the first to do so thus far.

I love reading fantasy books, but there have been a few non-fiction books that I have loved. I will share my top three (in no particular order) would like to hear yours. 1. Fields of Blood: Religion and the History of Violence by Karen Armstrong (For the first time, religious self-identification is on the decline in American. Some analysts have cited as cause a post-9/11perception: that faith in general is a source of aggression, intolerance, and divisivenessâsomething bad for society. But how accurate is that view? Hint: She believes that is lazy thinking and offers convincing arguments) 2. Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling by Bushman (absolutely fascinating and I believe fair and balanced biography on one of the most enigmatic and divisive religious leaders) 3. Ghost Soldiers by Sides (a harrowing and fascinating account of the Battan Death March and the raid to rescue the survivors )

I have always pictured a Dalinar that wasn't weak, but a Dalinar that had no restraints. Whatever he wanted he did/took and did not care about consequences (the one exception being deferring to his brother). It will be exciting to find out in November!
-
Nov 14 is shaping up to be quite the day for book releases. In addition to the one we are all looking forward to: the u.s. release for Deadhouse Landing and the new Andy Weir novel Artemis
-
I'll put forth a idea that's a little crazy. Dalinar feels guilt for his wife's death and asks the Nightwatcher for a chance to redo that decision. Dalinar goes back in time and makes a different decision, but still the result is his wife dying. And we all know the price.
-
Here's mine: 1. A major part of the book will be Dalinar deciding whether or not to commit genocide against the Parshendi (to prevent them turning into storm form) 2. The Vorin church will make a major play for power 3. Tezim is a Dakhor monk 4.Dalinar made a decision that resulted in his first wifes death. 5. Kaladin will be unable to fight during the major showdown at the end of the book and someone else (or a team) will save the day.

Can't get me out of your head. I understand ; )
