  1. Quid est veritas? (Translation: What is Truth?)
  2. Definitely but I am willing to cut him some slack; some not all. His life has been in turmoil for the year or so, but it now looks like things are settling down that he can finish it. He has gotten a divorce, dog died, and building a new house with the contractor coming up with several delays.
  3. I just looked it up. You are correct!
  4. It reminds me of (Dresden Files Spoiler)
  5. I've seen leylines used as a power source in other series: Dresden Files (Butcher) and Soul of the World (Mealing) off the top of my head. I am also a fan of Michael Scott's series. One of the few young adult series I have enjoyed as a older guy.
  6. This is the first time I have really thought about Tezim and had to look him up. I noticed that all the information on him is found in the 54th chapter in each of the two books we have. I want to say its a coincidence, but if so its a big one. I wonder if there is something about that number...
  7. Finished part 1 of Stone of Farewell and started A Gathering of Ravens (by Scott Oden) which finally arrived at the library. Both are a delight thus far!
  8. Welcome! Have you ever worked a Sanderson story into one of your sermons before?
  9. So Brandon has stated that Stormlight Archives will be 10 books total or two sequences of five. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=675#8 We can gather that book five will have a ending, of a sorts, that will satisfy readers until he gets started on the next set. So does that mean it will close on one desolation and the next set will be another desolation? Or will the voidbringers merely be contained for a period of time (like in Wheel of Time where it eventually breaks down seals). Does the next set of books take place 20-30 years later and is about the next generation? Obviously we cannot know these things (unless I am missing some important words of Brandon somewhere) but it may be fun to bounce ideas around.
  10. I think it would be interesting to see the fireworks between Adolin and Kelsier.
  11. All the topics at the coppermind have annotations on them. I suggest you look at the "notes" section. http://coppermind.net/wiki/Aimia
  12. I think he was one that I tried at the wrong time and will certainly give another chance! Some of my favorites came after a false start.
  13. You live in Denver (the mile high city) and whenever someone from out of town says something stupid you respond, "Airsick lowlanders"
  14. The Reckoner universe is fun, but I'VE GOT A FEVER AND THE ONLY PRESCRIPTION IS MORE COSMERE!
  15. This thread is for anyone who wants to brag or just share pictures of their own personal library. It's always the first place that draws my eye whenever I go to a new house. I will get the ball rolling
  16. Are you comfortable with digital versions? I'm not, but I imagine that would change if I owned a Kindle Paperwhite or any e-reader thats sole purpose is reading books. Anyways Reapers Gale finally starts to pull the storyline threads together. Have fun!
  17. Storm it! I'm grown man and yet it always brings tears to my eyes when reading Way of Kings when
  18. I'm happy with my current rank of Gyorn. It's kind of like being a cardinal in the medieval times with the raw power I can wield (even though I am not catholic its always been a dream of mine to be one in that era). Funny thing is about four levels up is Stormwarden. I would much rather be a Gyorn than a weather man.
  19. @CaptainRyan I salute you sir. You are a level of fan I'll probably never obtain, as much as I love Sanderson's books, I think my dedication reached its limit with me preordering everything he writes.
  20. Could you provide a link where these problems are discussed? I thought it was a step up from Alloy of Law. But I did the audiobook route so perhaps there was a plot hole I missed bc, for me, there are moments I lose focus going through the book that way.
  21. I think the wax and wayne books lack a certain amount of gravitas that was present in the original trilogy and I think era 2 would be better for it. At first I didn't like the leisurely pace of Way of Kings but, by the time I finished it, I ended up enjoying getting lost in his world and slowly exploring it.
  22. Sorry if this has been discussed before, but can a Radiant be faithfull to the first oath as long as they do not try to commit suicide (life before death) and always try to become stronger, faster, better etc. (Strength before weakness)? We always try to ascribe one set of interpretation to something, but that is the same trap Dalinor fell into (remember "unite them" and how the visions "told" him to trust Sadeas) It's been mentioned before that one can be honorable only as long as they do not break their own interpretation of the ideals.
  23. What do most fans think the Svrakiss actually are? I thought they were cognitive shadows...and as a Gyorn my opinion, of course, has more weight
  24. Ha maybe if we contact his assistant we could get a cut on some of the profits!
  25. Go ahead and rub it in @Ravi
