2017- the year we all have anticipated greatly?
Ammanas replied to Ningudo's topic in General Discussion
In all seriousness I think that may be a very real possibility for Rothfuss. I think Martin is 2018. Dance with Dragons was announced completed and published 3 months later...a remarkable thing for the publishing industry. Then again Martin is unique and sends in his writing as he is working so it is edited as he is writing. Rothfuss' editor has not seen any of Doors of Stone.- 10 replies

If you could have any super power, what would it be?
Ammanas replied to Tesh's topic in General Discussion
Shapeshifting to any form, person or animal. There would be so many things to do with this ability. It would also be fun to just soar over the world as a peregrine falcon. -
Always amazes me you guys remember all these details. Great work! Upvotes for everyone!

So I was first introduced to the cosmere by the article listed below. All of the information seems fine to me, but I am not very good with the small details of the Cosmere. I know that Tor did a cosmere article recently and many found holes that I could not find. The article is a little old, but I was wondering if the information was correct? http://thewertzone.blogspot.com/2014/03/a-rough-guide-to-sandersons-cosmere.html?m=1

The coppermind is also a great resource. http://coppermind.net/wiki/Coppermind:Welcome

Sorry if I came across as accusatory; that was not my intent. Speaking of Dakhor Monks I think I am most excited about the Elantris sequels than anything else that Brandon is writing in the somewhat near future (I think I most excited for Science Fiction Mistborn, but that is a long way off. I feel that many of his other series are better, but something about Elantris keeps me going back to it.

But still a very poweful being. I would trade you if I could. My current rank got completely trashed by Vin...they were completely non-effective.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

I imagine there will be a lot of that in November. Elation about the new Stormlight Archive book followed by depression that it will probably be 5 years until the next one comes out. -
Opinions on Stephen Ericksons series
Ammanas replied to KnightofLight's topic in Entertainment Discussion
There is philosophy throughout the series, but for me it really starts getting heavy in book 7. I agree with you and Orlion on a Cob about his views having a leftist slant though. Its funny bc my personal philosophy it very different than Eriksons in many ways. It doesn't bother me if people express/soap box a different view than my own...its enough for me to believe than I am right and they are misguided. I just shrug my shoulders and say we'll have to agree to disagree. I guess what I am saying is I can understand people having a problem with it; it doesn't bother me though. -
If the cosmere ends like star wars did (with Hoid standing before Odium and doing nothing while being tortured) I am going to be very upset.

In Words of Radiance there is scene near the end that only makes sense if you have read Warbreaker...that might be a good candidate for your next book. Warbreaker kind of has a cult following; it is easily overlooked bc of Sandersons other books but some people really like it.

Great! Welcome! Are you cosmere aware yet? If not this is a great place to find out. If so this and the coppermind is a great place to augment that knowledge.

Opinions on Stephen Ericksons series
Ammanas replied to KnightofLight's topic in Entertainment Discussion
He is a major player throughout the series (usually in the center of things). Glad that you are enjoying it. You may already know this, but many fans consider Gardens of the Moon the weakest of the ten....although still a fine book. -
Opinions on Stephen Ericksons series
Ammanas replied to KnightofLight's topic in Entertainment Discussion
The "philosohical stuff" doesn't really start getting heavy until book 7. Also it is unlike Goodkind (who was trying to promote a Ann Rand philosophy). Its more of a meditation on life and the horrors of war. I did not feel he was trying to push a philosophy down the readers throat. -
I included it with Arcanum Unbounded

Last year was amazing with the number of books released: 1. Bands of Morning 2. White Sand Graphic novel 3. Arcanum Unbounded 4. Calamity 5. Alcatraz 5 I think I got all of them...

Its only been within the last year and a half or so that I have been following Brandon's progress and have a quick question regarding that. Would it be unrealistic (based on Brandon's usual writing speed) to hope that by the end of the year he will be on later drafts of the Apocalypse Guard and a first Draft of The Lost Metal by the end of the year? I know these books are shorter and easier for him to write than SA. Would a eventual April release for The Lost Metal be unrealistic?

Its been a long time since I have read it...don't remember much, but Wikipedia has a good summary of it: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Tower:_The_Gunslinger

About 50 pgs into The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. by Neil Stephenson and Nicole Galland. It is a delight thus far; it has magic, time travel and humor.

I just realized that "minute" has two meanings and pronunciation even though it is spelled the same. We are all familiar with it as a measure of time but pronounce it as my-newt and it means small. English is a weird language.

Looks like this topic has been around awhile and thought I would respond to the original post. There is a blogger that I used to follow (our tastes have differed in the recent years and I rarely visit his page anymore) and he lists several of what he considers problems with the last book. Before I get feedback I dont subscribe to his views and want to share the link in order to merely answer the o.p question: http://fantasyhotlist.blogspot.com/2013/02/a-memory-of-light.html?m=1

@Pagerunner I already gave you a upvote, but just wanted to say you gave a fantastice answer. I never put 2 and 2 together about Purelake and some of the other info was either new or expanded for me. Many thanks to everyone else who took time out of there day to help with the question as well.
