  1. My impression was that they sent as much of an army as they thought was necessary in the initial group. The second "army" was Eshonai and her guard, who stayed out of the fighting because Eshonai was their last shardbearer and they didn't want to risk her, but she wanted to be there in case the other Parshendi were being slaughtered so she could step in. Or, she was there looking for Dalinar, hoping to get word to him that she wanted to meet with him. Personally, I didn't get the impression that the Parshendi were mimicking the Alethi tactics, just that there was this second force that was always nearby by that point in the war, but when the Alethi brought two armies, it was more obvious that there was this other group of Parshendi sitting out the fight. Back when there's only one army on the field, they do mention seeing Eshonai and some Warforms watching from a distance occasionally.
  2. Well, there isn't much time left, and there are very few votes out there. Are we going to have a no lynch? I don't like the idea, as we really need to catch up with four noble deaths already =\ No lynch means no chance at a day kill, putting the entire "vote" for our side in the hands of the vigilantes out there with weapons.
  3. Sorry - I thought we established that editing the contents of posts beyond typos/grammar was against the rules. I'll refrain from double-posting in the future on these forums. Good to know about the inactives, thanks. My suspicions aren't too strong, just wanted to get them out there to stimulate conversation. I didn't mean that declaring Luna as your heir is somewhat contradictory because of something related to her, but because it prevents you from voting on anyone at all.
  4. Thanks for the post, Seonid ^.^ Sorry for the inactivity comments, you're clearly not inactive if you noticed my vote on you. Good luck with the lab reports! My thoughts, suspicions, etc. Note that I always consider inaction to be suspicious since keeping quiet and being forgotten is the perfect shield for an eliminator to hide behind. By always seeing inaction as innately suspicious, it stops that shield from working. Please note that I didn't keep track of who said they'd be inactive for good reason, so I apologize if I've marked any of them down below. Suspicions Luna: Luna's first two posts on Day One, I flagged as sounding suspicious. Also, one of the only things Araris did before dying was vote for Luna. Also suspicious due to inactivity (Luna hasn't posted anything game-relevant today). Deathclutch: On my suspicion list that I compiled after the Day One kill reveal (flagged for being the third person to vote for Strawman, and then retract it later on when it was certain he would be chosen). Declared as heir someone else on my suspicion list, giving a potential tie. Declared an heir after vowing to kill people, which I see as contradictory behavior. Worried about killing him though, since he's basically declared that he's a Noble with a power role and at least two items. Kasimir: I dunno, something about the post with the vote against wilson really bugged me. Maybe I just didn't understand it? Elkanah: Suspicious due to inactivity. Hasn't posted today, only made one post (as far as I've noted) so far. Orlok: Defended Luna (who is on my suspicion list) and was the second person to vote for Strawman yesterday (second and third votes early on against posthumously confirmed townies usually look at least a little suspicious to me because they could easily be GBs trying to start momentum against someone who isn't one of them). Also, suspicious due to inactivity (hasn't posted today). Trelagist: Suspicious due to complete inactivity. Silver Dragon: Suspicious due to near inactivity. She hasn't posted today, and yesterday, didn't post anything game-relevant that I noted. Zas: Suspicious due to inactivity. Hasn't posted today (unless I missed it) and didn't vote yesterday. None of these suspicions are terribly strong, but I wanted to share them and see if I could get people talking. Edited for clarity
  5. Rosharans don't need electricity. They have Stormlight, which is better in every way. Okay, maybe not every way since you can only recharge the batteries every now and then, but it glows! How cool is that?
  6. SA would be utterly amazing as an animated series. The spren alone would make any live action presentation impossible outside of a big budget movie, and the story couldn't fit into a single movie. As much as I love his works, I sincerely doubt Brandon has the pull yet to have a series of movies made like was done for LotR or Harry Potter. The show really does lend itself to striking visuals. Spren everywhere highlighting every strong emotion or major action. Scenes like Kaladin fighting Szeth in the air with a shapeshifting weapon while occasionally running across storm-tossed boulders (and entire plateaus). I mean, Shardplate and Shardblades alone would look amazing. I love how the Surge of Illumination is described, puffing out Stormlight and then stepping through it, having it change you as you pass through. An animated series could show all these things and be really beautiful. I do highly doubt we'd ever see it though. But a girl can hope! My biggest fear about a visual version of the series though is the whitewashing that's sure to happen. I mean, just look at all the official artwork. The majority of what I've seen is totally whitewashed. No epicanthic folds, pale skin everywhere... The ethnicities on Roshar are very interesting, unique, and often totally ignored by the illustrators. Reshi should look like pacific islanders, but with the eye folds. Alethi should probably look middle-eastern or Indian (but again with the eye folds). Horneaters sound Celtic except for the eyes, and Azish are dark skinned. Aimians have blue skin, and I can't recall what the Iriali look like other than they are more likely to have blonde hair. In addition to skin tone and body shape, there's also the way hair color and eye color work on Roshar, which is very different from Earth. Hair on Roshar doesn't blend colors, they streak. If you have some ancestors with blonde hair and some with black, likely some of your hairs will be black and others will be blonde. That's a pretty unique look to Roshar. And the eyes - lighteyes don't just have light-colored eyes, they're actually bright, possibly glowing a bit. Foreigners with light colored eyes, like Hoid, confuse Rosharans because their eyes just don't look right colorwise. Handling all that in an animated format is easy, but in a live-action format would be pretty expensive unless it was all ignored, which it probably would be.
  7. They were both on the previous list too. Really? Early lynches are extremely important for the town, in my opinion. It's how the town moves toward a win. Even when we're wrong and hit a townie, the way people voted gives tons of information. Losing four in a single cycle though is terrible. I'm still surprised so many townies used vigilante kills on night one, seemingly at random (one was definitely random given they killed someone who never posted). Of course, this game has more night activity than I'm used to, and more players. When there's less to do at night, and especially when the game is closer to 15 players, not lynching on day one just makes day two exactly like day one except a townie is dead, so the mafia winds up in a way better position than the town for day two. Just to be clear on the rules, declaring an heir at night only takes the place of one action as if it was of one of the three categories? Also, what about for Spies, Artifabrians, and the Thief? Do their actions act like an item use, except the type (1A/1D/2) is wild? So, if you were a spy/artifabrian/thief with a spanreed (2), shardblade (1A), and painrial (1D), you could spy/create/steal, declare an heir, and use any one of those items, but not the other two?
  8. Just as a note, I'm not making any judgement calls when I say that people haven't posted - I'm just looking at it objectively. Though, to me, not posting in the public thread, especially when you're still taking night actions and otherwise participating in the game, is super suspicious. It looks like you're trying to avoid drawing attention, hoping people forget you're in the game. The new list of people who haven't posted yet at all, to my knowledge: Seonid Trelagist Still leaving my vote on Alv though until we get a post from them. The last one wasn't terribly game relevant.
  9. Oh, really? I should have read the rules closer ^^; I'm used to the mafiascum rules and just assumed the basics were being used here (all communication relating to the game allowed only in the game's thread during the day phase, no game-related communication allowed at any other time or in any other place unless specifically allowed by the specific game's rules).
  10. Wasn't that during the night though? It's a bit confusing with the posts merging, but it's after Strawman's deathcry, so it looks like a night post. I wasn't counting night posts since they can't relate to game. I think Macen also posted during the night. Though, there are actually a few people who didn't post any insights or commentary directly relating to the elimination game itself yet (either all RP or posts about how they'll be too busy to post), like Lopen and Silver Dragon. It'd be nice to hear from them too. Either Deathclutch is Heiring again because they have an extremely important item, or Deathclutch is a Ghostblood trying to avoid having to vote on a lynch. Either the Ghostbloods killed Hellscythe because Deathclutch declared Hellscythe as heir and they wanted to invalidate his Heiring forcing him to spend another vote or action on re-Heiring, or Deathclutch is a Ghostblood who wanted to try to divert suspicion by declaring an heir and then confirming that heir was a townie by killing them. And honestly, going "omg, how could you kill my heir? I'll do anything I can to get my revenge! There will be no mercy" and then declaring an heir, which prevents him from voting for a lynch (unless he changes his action before the end of the day), is super suspicious... Choosing not to even try to kill a Ghostblood with the town kill is kinda a kind of mercy, you know
  11. Well, the thief had better help us if s/he wants to win because we're not doing so good. Four townie deaths already... ouch Oh, and I just checked the writeup to verify. The thief only wants to steal one of each item, s/he doesn't have to keep one of each item by the end of the game. So, even though s/he loses the item after using it once, that's not a problem for their win condition. So, hopefully s/he will use the Reverser she very likely stole from Wilson last night (since we all know she had it due to Heiring) in a way that helps the town. List of living people who haven't posted yet: Alvron AliasSheep Macen Yafeshan Seonid Burnt Spaghetti Trelagist Can we please hear something from each of you today? I guess I'll try to poke people into talking by going down this list, alphabetically. That means Alv is first. I'll change my vote when Alv posts, or when there's a far better candidate. Oh, and ouch! We lost two Spanreeds already... I hope we have some more left. At least all the Artifabrians are still alive.
  12. Many people seem to think the "head of lines" refers to a Cryptic, but I always read that as referring instead to Taravangean, who was described by Shallan as having so many lines on his face, he looked like a crumpled piece of parchment. He often stood beside the healers as they drew blood. I read that as a clue to the identity of a major antagonist placed long before a reader could make the right connections, something Brandon does all the time in his books, especially with the epigraphs. But it could totally be read the other way too, especially since the "death rattle" is about Shadesmar, meaning it might not have even been a death rattle at all, but a proto-Lightweaver seeing Shadesmar before they died as their spren tried to save them by taking them there. At the same time, didn't Pattern say he was the first to form a bond since the recreance? When I hear "suckling child," I think of a child who is currently nursing, not just one young enough to nurse. I took that death rattle to be referring to a mother who contemplates killing her own child. But, I can see your interpretation too.
  13. It could! There are too many towers, crowns, and spears in this book. I could point to like, at least two more scenes that it could refer to.
