  2. I would be totally willing to be the one to slim things down, the only reason that I started this whole thread was because the last time I did something super big on the Coppermind (more than just editing a page) without asking an admin first, I just ended up screwing up a lot. So I really don't want to do this without explicit permission.
  3. Here is all that has to be done: Every month or so, somebody goes to one of the exemplary articles. They click the edit button. They click select all, and then copy. They go to the home page, select all the text of the featured article, and then click paste. That is seven really simple steps that have to be done once a month.
  4. What's a larkin?
  5. While we're on this topic, what are the dragon things that are behind the image? This is the picture I'm looking at:
  6. So, I was looking at my screensaver for about 30 minutes, trying to see if I could come up with any big revelations. This actually makes more sense than it sounds like, because my screensaver is image from WoR with all the orders from the knights radiant. Here are a few things I've realized/ wondered. 1: Syl really doesn't like pattern when she first sees him. Kaladin is very focused on honor, whereas Shallan is a member of the Ghostbloods. If you look at the image, they are opposite each other. It could be that their orders are opposite. This would make sense, because perfect honor is not a good attribute, neither is no honor. This way the orders balance each other out. 2: The Truthwatchers and the Bondsmiths are in the center. The Bondsmiths bring people together, so I doubt that they would have an opposite order. The Truthwatchers, if they are all similar to Renairin, seem pretty benign, so I doubt that they would have an opposite order either. 3: This image seems to be carved on stone. Does it actually exist? Will anybody eventually find it?
  7. I love this idea! Maybe one of us should PM an admin? I did, but got no response. I guess they get a lot of PMs. I'll try again.
  8. If they are close to the cognitive realm, maybe their relationship to the spren is more similar to the Parshendi? I'm not saying they have forms persay, but maybe something similar?
  9. Hi!

Just wondering, any chance we could switch the exemplary article in the shard to Kaladin, or some such article? She has been the featured article for a while.

  10. When Kal is doing his Katas in the chasms in WoK, all of his bridgemates are extremely impressed by his kata. They said that it looked amazing. That seems to imply that it's magic.
  11. I could easily see a high ranking Rosharian woman being forced to write with their right hand even though they are left handed. It's a fairly conservative society, and people actually do this on earth. They used to think in some places that it was far better to write with your right hand, and would force left handed people to write with their right hand. This actually happened to my grandfather.
  12. I am almost certain that ettmetal is lithium. Here's why. 1: ettmetal explodes in water. The only metals that actually behave in this way are alkali metals, which means that ettmetal could be lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium, or francium. 2: lithium, sodium, and potassium are the only ones that occur naturally in the world without human creation, and Scadrial will not have that tech for a long time, even in the south. 3: Sodium and potassium don't usually occur in pure form, so it would have to be lithium. Any objections? Ideas?
  13. I'm almost certain that there are ten Nahns, for two reasons: 1: There are 10 heralds, ten soulcast substances, etc. Ten seems to be a powerful number here, so I would be very surprised if there are only 10 Nahns. 2: Farmers are the second highest calling, so shouldn't it be a very high Nahn? I would imagine that it would not only be the beggars and whores who were lower than the farmers, but almost everybody.
  14. So would this mean the sun is the spiritual realm? That seems much more likely to me, because what I said earlier.
  15. Thanks for the explanation!
  16. I'll try to hide my spoilers, but the fact is, if you haven't read Emperor's Soul, just don't read this thread. And then read Emperor's sould, because it's a great book. When Allik Neverfar is using his connection Medalion to speak in the language of Elendel, he says that it will not work if one of the others wears it. He says that it has to be the person visiting. He says that "The visitor always has to wear the medallion, It's filled with Connection, yah? Bland Connection, to no place. But Connection can't just be connected to nothing, so when you tap it, it reaches out and connects you to the place where you are. Makes your soul think you were raised in this place instead, so your language changes" This sounds very much like Emperors Soul, The medallions are very much similar to the Sel magic.
  17. I thought the whole point was that metal on Scadrial was Invested. Our wiki says that "it is the method by which Investiture can be formed into magical effects"
  18. I'm currently on a trip in the middle east, and for a few seconds I thought he was talking about Jordan the country, and wondered if I could get a cheap flight in time.
  19. Do sandlings die when they eat people? If they had to restrict their diet to things with absolutely no water in them, they would have a very limited food supply. The vines are completely filled with water, so that makes sense, but I don't think a human's water would kill them. We are mostly water, but we are also kind of small.
  20. The sun could definitely be the Beyond, but wouldn't the Spiritual Realm have to be visible in some form from the Cognitive Realm? in SH,
  21. I agree with the idea that Nicrosil is extremely powerful, and a Nicrosil Compounder would allow somebody to become the Lord Ruler. You could essentially hack your own body system to become a full Ferchemist and a full Allomancer. However, I don't think that Lerasium would work in the same way. Why would it generate investiture? That makes no sense.
  22. I might be completely wrong, but I thought that the Beyond was the same as the Spiritual Realm, because (SH spoiler) another SH spoiler, If that's the case, then the sun is the Spiritual realm and the Beyond.
  23. I think Kaladin would be a great choice.
  24. Very hard to follow, especially because the extremely distinctive art style made everybody look kind of similar. For example, Ais's kid looked a lot like N'Teese. But I though the Sand Mastery was awesome! I think that the reason behind choosing white sand as a graphic novel was that Sand Mastery was very well shown visually. The outlining of the people doing the mastery was kind of cheesy, but the sand threads themselves were cool. And agreeing with Mestiv, why would the people living in the sunless land have dark skin, and the people living in the desert have light skin? That makes no sense at all! Also, where is Hoid?
  25. I just read the first volume, and there didn't seem to be any references of hoid. Of course, it could be that I didn't notice it, but it seems very unlikely. There was nobody who remotely appeared to resemble the descriptions of Hoid.
