Mistborn (TFE) If these are from any book series: I would have lived in peace, but my enemies brought me war (Hint: look at my location or profile image) If it has to be Sanderson: "I ain't grouchy," ____ snapped. "I just have a low threshold for stupidity."

Quick Fix Game 14: Corruption in the Senate
Bugsy replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Just in case my vote was changed, Alvron. I'll try and get on to vote for who I think is corrupt, but I can't guarantee it, since I'll be pretty busy today Edit: I somehow gained a bag of boxing last round, so I'm now assuming my vote was changed. Joe, any chance you can tell us how votes currently stand for Governor?- 687 replies

Looks like the poll is still open, we're less than 25 votes from winning! Seriously, have everyone vote that you possibly think would. I have a computer science class in less than an hour, so if they leave it open till then I can get about 50 votes, but they'll probably close it sooner than that. Vote, please!
-
35 votes from winning but only 10 minutes left! VOTE, PEOPLE We have 126 people on rn, we can do it if we all vote
-
Vote, vote, vote! If you have a computer and a phone, vote using data on your phone and Wifi on your computer. It tracks your IP address, so if you're going to vote multiple times, do so through different devices on different wifis. Vin and Elend deserve to win this battle, and they're getting robbed

Quick Fix Game 14: Corruption in the Senate
Bugsy replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Alvron seems to be the most likely suspect right now, plus if he is guilty we can then proceed to persecute those who set him up to get the items. I'd say he's our best bet for lynching as of now- 687 replies

I'm assuming this was in response to my post? If so, they'd be anonymous mainly to force them to waste turns occasionally in order to figure out who is who, which would serve to even the playing fields a bit This was meant to describe an ideal situation, if anyone would like to take and use it, they are more than welcome to make any alterations they so desire. I suppose it could be run with only orders we've seen relatively in-depth, or perhaps there could be veterans with multiple accounts in different games (Only people who won't abuse this). There could also be a group of neutrals who are CPU run

Depends. The rules say drugs keep players from speaking in thread or PM, but does this keep them from doing anything in the Docs? If not, they're practically worthless for a villager- 687 replies

I had an idea for an SE, but I won't have time to host it, so feel free to use this idea if you like . The Recreance: 10 factions, each of which have 2 sub-factions Factions: Windrunners Skybreakers Dustbringers Edgedancers Lightweavers Elsecallers Truthwatchers Bondsmiths Willshapers Stonewards In this game, 30% begin on the "good" side (the side opposing the Recreance) and 20% begin on the "bad" side (Those who want to make the recreance occur). Round up, where nesecary The bad side within each order receives a google doc to communicate in. Each order's group of bad guys know eachother's identities, but they don't know the identities of the bad side in the other orders. Each order of bad guys can send 1 message a day to all of the other bad guys, but they cannot reveal their identity or that of any other bad guy. They can also only mention 2 neutral or good players a turn, which prevents them from granting immediate knowledge of who are bad guys through process of elimination. These will be moderated by the GM The good side each have a knowledge of who on their order is good. They can also vote anonymously to surveil or lynch one player per order per turn. Both good and neutral can PM 1 player each turn. The PMer and receiver will be shown in the writeup NOTE: the bad side cannot PM anyone but the GM Each turn, the "bad" side as a whole can attempt to convert 1 player to their side (NOT 1 per order). Consensus must be reached within each order's group to vote for 1 player. One member from each order will then send the final decision to the GM. Each order's final decision is weighted equally, and the player who receives most votes will be attempted to be converted. If the player being converted is under surveillance OR is a "good guy", a bad player will be revealed to either the target (if the target is good) or to a random member of the good team in the same order as the target (if the target was neutral and under surveillance) The bad guy that is revealed will be in the same order as the target. If possible, it will be a member who voted for the target. If the target is a neutral person under surveillance, they will still be converted, but they will NOT be the "bad guy" that is revealed to the surveiling good team Good guys are impossible to convert. When the bad guys consist of more than 1/2 of the total order, that order abandons its oaths. The goal of the bad team is to convert orders, while the goal of the good team is to eliminate bad guys from orders through lynches. When an order is converted or purged, all members of the order leave the game and cannot be manipulated/surveilled Team victory conditions: Bad guys: Convert more than half of more than half of the orders Good guys: Purge more than half of the orders entirely Order specific victory conditions Good guys: Purge your order of all bad guys Bad guys: convert more than 1/2 of the order Individual victory conditions Good guys: Don't get lynched and purge your order entirely Bad guys: Don't get lynched and corrupt more than 1/2 of the order Neutral: Don't get lynched or converted and purge your order entirely Note: I am more than willing to alter this to improve it. I'm especially looking for better faction names than "good guys" and "bad guys"

Hated the flaws in the science aspect of it, too. If you have a population of any organism that share a common genetic disorder, inbreeding within those affected would only worsen the problem, not "cure them over time". Also, if the damaged traits were genetic, then in theory why would anyone choose to change factions in the first place? Both of their parents passed on the gene that gave the skewed outlook on life, so they should all belong to whichever "faction" their parents did. On top of that, it talked about how the factionless were largely divergent. I didn't really see why this is true, because just having unmarred DNA doesn't mean you're inept and unable to assimilate into a given society under the pressure of herd mentality -
Organic impulse basically means that it relies on input from your body (likely your mind) to take a certain shape or relax into a whip. Because it can actually be molded at will, however, it doesn't appear to be metal based. Also, keep in mind that their intelligence is hugely focused in the areas of combat and psychology as well as "slang smarts", so it's quite possible Elend is actually smarter overall. I'd agree that Darrow and Sevro have areas of interest that are far more applicable than Elend's, though I personally think the Golds would actually win, because Darrow also has incredibly fast reaction times that he developed as a helldiver, so he'd easily be able to block and dodge coins. Even if the Mistborn had Atium, he relies enough on instantaneous instinct it's likely he'd inadvertently pull the "splitting Atium shadows" trick used by Vin against Zane. Sevro would easily evade even tin-enhanced senses, allowing for a quick surprise attack that could definitely eliminate at least Elend. They also have satisfactory answers to steelpushing, because they can "fly" via gravBoots and knock coins from the air with pulseFists. It'd likely come down to a 2v1 of the Golds fighting Vin, and I'd have to give the fight to Sevro and Darrow. What I think would be an interesting development would be the use of the Gold's sigils (Bits of metal embedded in the hand) in the fight, depending on what part of the book they are take from. Darrow's sigils might actually be pushable, because he tries to keep from becoming like the golds, which would have the effect of separating the 2 cognitive aspects drastically

Adonalsium split into 16 shards (General knowledge, but still good to know) Addition to emperor's soul: Ralkaest (the unforgeable metal) is aluminum Correction for emperor's soul: Hoid was known as the Imperial Fool WoA: the footprints Vin sees near the well are left by Hoid Also, I believe Taln's scar is thought to be the same band of red stars visible from numerous other shardworlds including Scadrial and
-
I'd also say that Scadrial has a much more versatile magic system. They have powers for defense and disruption (lurchers), powers that enable the user to survive and fight more capably (Feruchemical pewter, Feruchemical steel, Allomantic pewter), and even the ability to literally manipulate time. In a war situation, this last one might actually be the most effective. Just bait a shardbearer into entering a time bubble and you could just have coinshots line up and fire hundreds of coins through it, crippling or killing him. Even with the coins refracting, chances are he'd be hit due to sheer quantity. Although Rosharans are capable when it comes to organizing warfare, allomancers would likely be able to steal some soulcasters, drastically reducing their abilities to field an offense. As soon as Scadrial fighters learned how to soulcast metal, they'd be near unstoppable. Also, I'm assuming that Marsh would enter the fight on the side of Scadrial. He'd undoubtedly win against shardbearers (He can compound Feruchemical atium, and chances are he can compound aAtuim as well. He's also likely to have become a gold compounder, assuming a sacrifice at some point in the 300 year time gap BoM spoiler:

Plus, keep in mind that in the aftermath of the Collapse, it's likely that food became so scarce very few horses survived anyways.

Not sure about WoB, but I've ran across a couple threads in which it was regarded as a given. I'll try and find a WoB if possibleETA: So, a quick search returned no WoBs. It appears I may have been mistaken, my apologies ETA2: I was confused as to what was confirmed and what wasn't, someone said that Peter confirmed Roshar's moons were artificial here and I grossly misinterpreted it to mean roshar was artificial, and that it's moons were gemstones. Apologies again, didn't mean to spread false information ETA3: Very off topic, but anyone know why that HTML didn't work? ETA4: So, apparently even the artificial status of the moons wasn't confirmed. In reality, it was suggested that their orbits are artificial. I done screwed up -

Try Red Rising, it's a pretty good book Back on topic: When you're sitting through church on Easter, and you suddenly think that if RL were the cosmere, G-d and Satan would each be shards who counterbalance each other and Jesus would be the physical embodiment of the Cognitive aspect of G-d who was placed on earth so he could act without being countered by Satan. Then you go on to think that Satan must have "walled off" the cognitive realm around earth, trapping cognitive aspects from reaching the G-d beyond and leaving them aimless cognitive shadows who are subject to the intense pull of beyond but are unable to submit to it, and that when Jesus died the sudden transfer of G-d's investiture into the walled-off cognitive burst through the dam, resulting in the freeing of the cognitive shadows and return to heaven with the G-d beyond, and that because he was a cognitive aspect, Jesus was able to create another physical avatar through investiture, allowing him to return to life NOTE: Sincere apologies to whom my post may offend, this is purely a hypothetical discussion, and as a Christian myself, is in no way intended to mock any religion -

You can hit the hide button if you like, it'll remove your post from view Back on topic: The number 16 has ramifications outside of the Mistborn universe (Adonalsium was split into 16 Shards) There's a strange band of red stars that is present in (almost?) all cosmere books and seems to be linked to Trell Trell is a God of one of the religions mentioned by Sazed in the first book The purelake religion bears strange resemblance to Trellism All magic systems work through manipulation of the cognitive aspect Hoid appears in almost every book in the cosmere Roshar's moons are infused gemstones + roshar is artificial (I think this is confirmed, at least) Spren are cognitive aspects that are invested enough to manifest themselves in the physical realm -
In neither does the cognitive aspect fit the reality I wish I had a 4 day weekend for Easter
-
If it does come down to Vin + Elend vs. Darrow + Sevro, I'm honestly not convinced the Mistborn would win. Sevro and Darrow use organic razors as their primary weapons, which aren't a metal-based. Also, although Sevro is small for his caste in society, he's still well over 6 feet and would be incredibly dificult to push. Adding on that the standard bone density of a Gold is 5x that of a standard human, even Vin with pewter might have trouble cracking their bones. Because the golds are each masters in close combat and accustomed to fighting others as powerful as they are, they'd also likely be more used to facing a powerful opponent like Vin than she'd be used to facing ones like them. I suppose an argument could be made that the Inquisitors kept her in practice, but I'd take Sevro and Darrow over 2 inquisitors any day. Their gravBoots and pulseFists are a good match to Vin and Elend's steelpushes, as they can knock coins out of the air and are likewise able to "fly" with the boots. So long as they don't wear a metallic Star Shell, it'll be a very close fight. I'd personally have to abstain from voting

Magic the Gahtering: Cosmere edition
Bugsy replied to Glamdring804's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I've never played Magic, but I assume there is some form of card that provides a passive benifit to its player. Perhaps you could create an instant called the Everstorm that reverses the alignment of these cards (Parshendi -> Voidbringer transformation) ETA: Some other ideas for cards Shardblade: Buffs 1 card that is not a Legendary Midnight essence: Weak, but compounding effect the more that are in play Nightblood: All 'dark' creatures in play immediately die Herald: Draw 3 cards (Because they returned lost knowledge) Odium: Find the top 3 'dark' cards in your deck and place them immediately into your hand, then shuffle the deck Koloss: Medium strength, if they kill a card you can sacrifice one of your own cards to make another koloss Kandra: Imitate another card you have in play, requires the same mana as whatever it's imitating Dakhor teleportation: Sacrifice one card to immediately play a card from your hand regardless of mana cost (Note: this card would be relatively expensive in and of itself) I have no idea how gamebreaking any of these cards would be, as I've never played before. Apologies in advance for all of my misconceptions regarding gameplay mechanics
