  1. What would hypothetically happen if Nightblood were to take investiture from a source who's intent wouldn't clash with its own? That might be interesting to see
  2. When you force yourself to read your friends' inferior book recommendations so he'll finally agree to read Sanderson
  3. Welcome to the forums! Also: Seriously. Don't even think about eating the cookies. They may look delicious, but they're really full of horrible things like spikes and raisins. Edit: So, I apparently stole The Honorspren's joke subconsciously, my bad...
  4. Either one will get you slaughtered on Tumblr Ipads are like the bottoms of barrels of toxic waste
  5. I know this quote, but I don't remember where from... It had something to do with mythology, I think... (Great, now I'll never be able to get to sleep )
  6. I think you might have the highest upvote:post of any Sharder on the site XD

    1. Young Bard

      Young Bard

Not compared to Brandon. 62 posts ---> more than 5000 upvotes.

  7. I wasn't aware of this... Logically, white is composed of all colors, so wouldn't it be black?
  8. Just make sure it has enough spikes spice
  9. The sphere in SH that caused lines to radiate from Kelsier in every direction did so because it automatically strengthened his connection to any form of Preservation's investiture. When he pulled on these lines, he called the investiture into himself, causing his ascension. Basically, the sphere itself contained only connection, not large quantities of Preservation's investiture, but it allowed Kelsier to obtain enough investiture by pulling it to himself through his connection that he was able to ascend. ETA: Because the spiritual realm, and therefore connection, is composed of investiture, the sphere could possibly be highly invested. It may not be Preservation's investiture, however, because we know investiture from different shards can substitute for each other (when disregarding intent). It most certainly could not have contained large amounts of Preservation, however, because such a discrepancy would undoubtedly be mentioned in the books
  10. Granted, have fun on the Titanic II I wish I could run a 5 minute mile
  11. It's mentioned in passing in BoMBoM minor spoilers Meme below:
  12. Granted. Your bane is that you'll never know what I posted below this because I'll edit it out before you see it...(I'm not actually going to post anything ) I wish for a new car
  13. This is a really impressive theory, upvoted I do have a couple of concerns, however. Atium is believed to be an invested metal, but Ruin could have metabolized it into his power according to WoB. Also, when investiture is the "building block", I take it to mean the most basic and fundamental aspect. If something else composed investiture, it couldn't be the base. Since investiture is described as transcending the realms, it leads me to believe it must also be what created them, because there would be no purpose for the PoC to 'create' the realms if they were immediately going to create something else that was not defined by the realms ETA: HoA chapter 12 heading:
  14. Has it been proposed that Nightblood could possibly be forged by Edglium (Endowments's godmetal)? It would explain why it's able to contain so much investiture.
  15. Looking forward to this. I'm especially looking forward to the cooperative aspect, but I'm not sure how well it'd work since the house war is starting and all. Might be difficult to justify allying with someone who your house would suspect of murdering its members. I really hope it actually involves strategy and not as much luck-of-the-draw Try the game "Pamdemic", I think you'd like it based on your other favorites
  16. YES. HOW DID I NOT THINK OF THIS(Is it bad that at first I read that as "Doctor" instead of "Dockson" and got really confused?) ETA: John Barrowman as Marsh
  17. Yes. They need to be in this. Honestly though, I'd cast Cumberbatch as TLRI see Vin and Elend as being new actors (at least relatively). Also, does anyone else see Bernard Cribbins as Mennis or even Renoux?
  18. Don't eat the cookies! They're sharp Anyways, welcome to the forums!
  19. There aren't really that many accepted theories that remain unconfirmed because most major questions are answered through WoB (Word of Brandon). There are a few, however, such as the thought that Frost (A dragon) was the letter writer in the a Stormlight archive. Check out the cosmere theories subsection and you should see some reasonable or likely theories, though A 'cookie' is what the Hemarulgists over at the Dark Alley call spikes. Don't eat them, they're sharp Some basic advice: The green and red arrows aren't like or dislike buttons, they're upvotes or downvotes on rep. Don't downvote just because someone's disagreeing with you unless they're doing so in an unnecessarily rude way. Similarly, don't upvotes every post just to be nice, but don't be stingy if you think a post deserves them Check out Sanderson Elimination. It's very similar to the mafia game found on other forums. There's a game starting soon if you'd like to join (http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/53982-treachery-on-the-terris-peaks/) Don't post twice in a row, use the edit option if you'd like to add to or edit your post Oh, and welcome to the forums! Edit: Whoops, ninja'd
  20. Why on earth would he avoid the cookies? They're so sharp tasty! Anyways, welcome to the forums! If you're good at making up puns or jokes, you might want to check out the threads at http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/24294-sanderson-memes/
  21. When you're running and you say to your friend that you wish you were born with Feruchemical steel or Allomantic pewter, and he replies "You shouldn't, I'd spike you for it"
  22. Not sure on that aspect, it could be possible that because investiture is unable to recognize what made the wound, it cannot detect the wound either. It could also be that a disconnect between the physical and spiritual means that the investiture, which works on a spiritual level, doesn't recognize the wound and the process must happen physically
  23. In my understanding, Identity is the process by which anything is connected to a spiritual aspect. This would mean changing Identity would cause a disconnect with the basic parameters that define you. I also see aluminum as simply lacking a cognitive aspect, which explains the fact that it cannot be manipulated on a cognitive level nor recognized by investiture
  24. I really like this theory! It makes much more sense than any I've thought of. My only issue is that it's a rather un-original twist, considering that a piece of stolen Investiture was a large aspect in HoA Slightly off topic
